That track is always impressive when driven well. Kudos to the three of you. And the leader, before he lost it. And there's probably 1/2 second or more to be gained here too. Nice!
I've seen so many guys going 2 wide at the Schwedenkreuz. It's physically not possible dudes! Don't try it. Some guys need to stop thinking this is a normal race track. First race the track here, not the other cars. Matt I really enjoyed this video!
Wow, with no commentary.. We can sit here and just admire the racing. This was some awesome lapping! You've also just sold me on the porsche. Wasn't planning to get it buuut I guess now I am lol. Thanks!
Thats some fucking superb driving Matt. I even had the Tunnel Feeling (The Senna one). During the fourth lap I noticed my head tilting during the cornes LOL
Oh that last lap push is edge of the seat intense. Between the early shift to 5th going into the last straight and then that very late brake thereafter... Wow! Great stuff!
At 10:50 , in my experience, usually I can tell how the car will handle that corner right before I turn the wheel as I'm sure you can as well. What I find helpful when I can sense the car is about to understeer is apply 20-30% throttle and that helps point the car in the right direction. Usually braking helps with these kinds of situations better but this corner is an odd one and you just have to know what your suspension is telling you. Love your videos as always.
Yes - which ever Glacier Racing driver that was they should be ashamed. Especially after the storm one of their drivers whipped up the other week in the forums about the driving standards of another driver. Pot meet Ketle.
Some people have the wrong reaction and think people on track should move out of their way. Others including myself think I better move my f*cking ass! to get out of the way of other drivers or just stay to the side
Great driving! You nail the driving line very nice which is very hard in this circuit. Next step is to spend a vacation in Nurburg, get an instructor, rent a car...
You know, I've been wondering. Why the hell does splinter camo work on literally any car? Even if it doesn't wrap properly it works! This car/track combo is fantastic though. I seriously can't get enough out of it, it's like a drug in that regard. Can't wait for the VLN races this year!
Commentary is important - that's what makes the videogame racing videos more interesting to watch than onboard videos of real racing. Without the emotions, jokes, opinions and other commentary from the driver, it's not very interesting to watch unless you are a big fan of the driver for some reason. I watch for entertainment and hearing the driver talk is a big part of it.
Would you say there are any noticable differences in this version of the track compared to the AC version? Of the laser scanned ones I've only driven it in AC and a couple of corners look slightly different judging by this video, but I guess it might just be the vegetation around the track that's doing it. Anyway great video as always, keep up the good work!
It's the vegetation. There are some differences in how you have to drive due to the physics - eg that one right hander before Whippermann (sp? - I think that's the corner at least) where you eat all of the curb in AC because the cars just does not care at all, whereas you need to be slightly more careful over that curb in particular in iR / R3E's versions.
Agni Astor iracing released a pic of 2 guys trying the super dirt latemodel on Twitter :) they definitely made the screens visible and just look at that shine of the track!
Empty Box I'm going to be doing the world 100 on iracing with the Latemodels. Going to be fun. I'm already signed up for the sprintcar league and the super latemodel league lol. I'll do the Latemodels then move on to the next after the World 100. That's my plan atleast. Hope to someday race you on dirt!
You would have got second if you hadn't lost traction in a couple spots coming off the turns. That was a sweet lap for sure. Must feel great to run a lap like that, with me if I'm pointing in the right direction and not crashed into the wall, I've had a great lap on that track. Love the track though. Those curves that have the grove to run in down low, I can't stay down in them at all. I try but it bouncy right up out of them. Great race, from start to finish.
The corners you mean are called the Carousel and the Little Carousel (actually the Karussell and Kleines Karussell), they're a pain in the ass to stay in when you first start learning, just take it easy on the gas and hold it steady, if you try to correct too much or put the foot down while you're in the Carousel you're going to have a bad time.
Hi, I was wondering how you setup the car. I really struggle to get the car turning and basically understeer whenever I can. I tried multiple setups from the setup shop but even there the setups go both extremes. Also I notice how you really feedrelease the brake, however that doesn't seem to be the trick for my car to steer in to a corner... Any tips?
im guessing weather makes a huge difference here, did a 6:54.6 in a private test last week with default weather, this week 7:00:6 in a official session it adds up over a lap. felt pretty fast too, 2nd out of like 35 people too bad the fastest time was a 54.6 hahaha so far off
Is this version of the Nordschleife laser scanned? Because it looks quite a bit different in some parts to the version from Project Cars. Oh and btw. what are your thoughts on the GTR3 announcement?
So this is laser scanned? I wanna buy a lisence for a month just for this track but i wont if its not possible to use every car in a singleplay session on it. Is that possible like to test the cars and practise because i am a total racing noob
If you purchase the content yes, you can always launch a solo session. But if you want just this track I suggest you look at Assetto Corsa, Race Room Racing Experience. Both of those feature a laser scanned Nords that is just as good. You could throw Project CARS 2 in there as well (technically scanned but IMO - and others who have driven the track - it doesn't feel as well made as the others) I wouldn't suggest iRacing for just one track or whatever, it's really at it's best in competition. If that isn't what you are ready for yet, there are better titles on the market for you.
Isn't it a bit ironic(hello Alanis Morissette) that you misspelled the track's name in the video title? :P Btw: It got it's name from the (ruined) castle&town of Nürburg close by, but you might have known that already. Another fun fact: "Nuremberg" is the English name of "Nürnberg", which is where ther Norisring is located Now that would be QUITE a difference :D
Doesn't matter. Unless the game comes out and is some sort of gift from the sim racing gods, nothing. No need for me to do it and it's not something I particularly feel excited for.
Since the games use different engines the graphics and perception will look different, wether the tracks are identical or not I'm not sure - but I'd assume they are both laser scanned.
The accuracy of laser scanning shouldn't make a visual difference though? Wouldn't that mean it would be WAY more precise to make that huge of a difference? What's the point in laser scanning to begin with if your margin of error is up towards several inches. Also, are you sure that the dev teams themselves went out and scanned the tracks? Wouldn't it be alot more convenient to get this done through a third party? I don't know much about this - thus my curiosity.
B Faria I think AC has longer grass which makes the track less visible in places. The downhill hairpin section in AC looks completely different though.
Hmm, car and steering wheel moves look way closer to real life footage than the same from AC. No feel of car floating over the road or sliding on some sort of grease at least.
Really could be any little thing that makes you slower in qualifying. It is a hugelong track, after all, so 4 seconds isn't really that much at all. Plus, you spend the majority of the race in slipstream. Seems to me, you're doing perfectly fine in qualifying, the only thing being that you're just not an alien.
6:48 For some unknown fricken reason, that turn right there shuts down whatever part of my brain that controls driving ability. I don't get it because I see no one else on planet earth finding it such a bitch.
it was a pain in the old Mazda if I recall correctly and it's still a pretty hard section. It comes with practice. You brake and downshift one or two gears (depending on the car) and then drive through it. The weight has to be on the back, don't try to brake too much in the turn, that will F your balance up. EDIT: it really depends on the car if you brake longer or get on the gas sooner, but your inputs have to be very careful to not upset the car.
It's less powerful, fewer assists (IRL they have ABS as an option up to the series the car is running in), worse tires, worse aero - it's "not even close" to a GT3 car. It produces lap times a few seconds slower.
Might still be a matter of familiarity but I still find the RUF GT3 more predictable on this track. Getting used to the new Porsche on smoother tracks isn't bad though.
Added precision, proper scaling, more confidence as you have proper scaling and everything falls into the place your brain knows it should be even when it's off screen.
i guess you could had a better setup for this race... I saw in the final of the second lap, that you had the slipstream and cound't close the gap for the car in front, so your 6th gear was too short... you was doing 176mph, so i guess if the 6 gear was long enough to bring the car close to the 200 mark you would be fine, and it would not slow you down the rest of the lap, because no where in the track you was able to use 6 gear other than in the main final strait, and after climb the hill. i saw too the car understeer a lot, and that should had ruin your tires for the last 2 laps. But other than that, was a good race, and good fun to watch. It's was a shame that the live commentary get ruined. But hope to see more of this track in your vid Box, maybe a fun race with indy cars should be interesting.
Matheus Linhares if you'd bothered to look at Box's first vid on this car (Oran Park) you'd notice the minimal tuning options available - no gear ratio adjustment is possible...
Empty Box yeah he's clueless. I think the big curb hit at 17:25 might damaged you a bit. I've made that same mistake numerous times this week and the steering always feels wonky after smashing that curb. Maybe it's just placebo.
You might see maaaaaarginally increased straight line speed. You'd also create more problems over the course of the lap, and still only see MAYBE a few MPH due to lower rolling resistance more than anything. The car is heavily gear limited on the straight and there is nothing you can do about it to make it not gear limited. (well, short of throwing max wing on it perhaps)
stop using dxtory. use shadowplay and record your mic with audacity. most games are heavy cpu bound, iracing is no different, and shadowplay uses your vga to record.
In what way? Just asking because I've used it often, both for recording gameplay + voice but also to broadcast with or without voice. I was actually about to recommend it when I heard you complaining about dxtory. Never had any issues. Enjoyed the video none the less! Close call at Pflanzgarten the first lap! Can't get enough of the Ring 👍🏻
it's not, and it's very light to record, not affecting gameplay because it's not using your cpu to encode the video. all done though gpu. the only downside it's it doesn't splint the audio channel like dxtory, but just use audacity to record your voice and sync with the video and gg.
I've had more audio desync issues due to variable framerate - and subsequently having to take a video into handbrake to fix it - than it's worth. This is literally down to a track in iRacing that has crap optimization more than anything. I've used pretty much everything over the years I've done this, there is a reason Shadowplay doesn't get used. I recorded the previous two races perfectly fine. :|
too many donkey driver in this serie right now. everybody want to drive the Porsche, but only feu really know how to drive it before going on a race. especially on the nordschleife.
can i ask after watching a lot of your videos how you are able to drive "balls to the wall" behind the driver? most time i do this and those drivers end up braking too early and i hit them OR the other way around someone drives to close to me and tail ends me...
William Wu You have to give up your knowledge of the track and drive based off them. when i am tucked under somebodys bumper, im not worried about passing until i learn how they drive. im just following and watching, making mental notes to use.
Everything about this video is just... just... don't ever stop doing this. I, no, we need you in our lives.
Gravity YOU need to get a life or a dog, girlfriend, hobby or something so you don’t sound so pathetic! Sad sad little man!

Love your videos as always.
30:03 Look at him, just look at him. What the fuck is this guy even doing in iRacing?
Came here to comment on the same eedjit. Backing into traffic - wow.
I could listen to this all day.
Impressive consistency of all you 3 drivers, great race.
Thank you for sharing this epic race with us
GOOSE bumps written all over after 2 laps :)... keep them comin EB.
The dude at 30:00 needs to learn how and when to re-enter the track after a wreck.
He tried to catch the car, but he failed. There are a lot worse guys out there :D
@@onlygaming331 Guess its more about what happens at 30:05
God I love the green hell. Must have put thousands of laps into it by now.
Video lives up to it's title. No commentary required! Intense Race!
Hey, I made it into an Empty Box video!!!....too bad I'm the one knocked on my lid in the first carnage report replay
Great job Matt. You drove the shit outta that thing.
That's the first time I've seen an IR video and thought it looked as good as AC (driving wise). I am so tempted to resub and grab this combo.
god I miss PC sims Matt! so immersive and great racing man. It sounds amazing BTW skipping over the bumps and at full tilt
I love how they reproduce the gear sounds. so more realistic.
Nice Matt.. Have you ever considering VR for your simracing?
Commentary is important - that's what makes the videogame racing videos more interesting to watch than onboard videos of real racing. Without the emotions, jokes, opinions and other commentary from the driver, it's not very interesting to watch unless you are a big fan of the driver for some reason. Thumbs up for the title alone.
Would you say there are any noticable differences in this version of the track compared to the AC version? Great job..don't know how you go so "full out" on this track..I love it..but so many different corners etc..you did great.
So. It's 1am in the morning and Empty Box releases a video, gotta get my priorities straight...
This track is in the Porsche cup again on tuesday the 2nd of november 2018.
I can't wait till dirt comes out and we get some content from you on that matter. Truxxin at Eldora is gonna be AMAZING
Agni Astor iracing released a pic of 2 guys trying the super dirt latemodel on Twitter :) they definitely made the screens visible and just look at that shine of the track!
Agni Astor it was 2 days ago
Forget Truxxin', SPRINT CARS!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about the newly announced GTR3 in 2018
Just Another Ken Really?
It's not going to be a "real" GTR3. It will have Codemasters Formula One style handling. Unfortunately.
Looking forward to playing this game because GTR2 was my first racing game
Luke Wankmüller Same for me
Leemz100 take that with a grain of salt
Hey Empty Box, why you dont try Nvidia Shadowplay to record your races=? or do you have an amd card?
You would have got second if you hadn't lost traction in a couple spots coming off the turns. That was a sweet lap for sure. Must feel great to run a lap like that, with me if I'm pointing in the right direction and not crashed into the wall, I've had a great lap on that track. Love the track though. Love the voicechat during the carnage report :P
welp, i dunno if it's the car or the track, or the driver but i thoroughly enjoyed this race.
Any tips?
Rens de Kok Try trailbraking, that's what Matt told me to do and it helped
how did you get the throttle, break, clutch and steering input to show?
still cant go that fast consistantly. How many hours have you raced on that track. Including other sims?
A lot. It's no different than any other track, it's just bigger.
Damn that 30 minutes went quickly. Nice drive!
Pace and consistently on this track is impressive....great driving
im guessing weather makes a huge difference here, did a 6:54.6 in a private test last week with default weather, this week 7:00:6 in a official session it adds up over a lap. felt pretty fast too, 2nd out of like 35 people too bad the fastest time was a 54.6 hahaha so far off
Weather always matters!
Is this version of the Nordschleife laser scanned? Because it looks quite a bit different in some parts to the version from Project Cars. Oh and btw. what are your thoughts on the GTR3 announcement?
All tracks in iRacing are laser scanned. GTR3... well... it's a joke of an announcement until proven otherwise.
Nice driving! first 2 laps in the same tenth of second!! :O Impressive hahaha
That's nothing, in an AC video (when the track was released) I did like 4 of them in a row all at 7:42 or whatever. lol
Empty Box HAHAHAHA Awesome!!!
Lost so much iR this week! Shame about DXStory, have you tried OBS? far better IMHO
Nice driving Empty Box can you teach me?
So this is laser scanned? I wanna buy a lisence for a month just for this track but i wont if its not possible to use every car in a singleplay session on it. Is that possible like to test the cars and practise because i am a total racing noob
If you purchase the content yes, you can always launch a solo session. But if you want just this track I suggest you look at Assetto Corsa, Race Room Racing Experience. Empty Box ok thanks ill probaly look into assetto then
What's the difference between this and Nurernburgring? The two tracks look the same to me.
There is no "Nurernburgring". I've seen people call it that because they think of Nuremburg, but that has nothing to do with the Nurburgring.
Empty Box Stupid spell-check!
So what's the difference between the track in the video and Nurburgring?
Oh.
Isn't it a bit ironic(hello Alanis Morissette) that you misspelled the track's name in the video title? :P
Btw: It got it's name from the (ruined) castle&town of Nürburg close by, but you might have known that already.
Another fun fact: "Nuremberg" is the English name of "Nürnberg", which is where ther Norisring is located Now that would be QUITE a difference :D
I before E except after C, or if it's a race track in Germany. LOL
Man I hit every wall with such perfection
Whats the black spots that appeared on your windshield?
damn, now thats some attention to detail
Great race n Nice Lines. 👍
Jw Mr. Box, do you have all the content?
No
you gonna do a talk on the pcars 2 trailer
Nope, Project CARS 2 will get zero coverage from me.
understandable
even if they fix a lot of stuff wrong with the first?
Doesn't matter. Unless the game comes out and is some sort of gift from the sim racing gods, nothing. No need for me to do it and it's not something I particularly feel excited for.
Two cars crashed in a week, Cooper MacNeil is making it real expensive on his dad in 2017
Great drive! Well done!
I know watch the road,.... But they really need to do something about those trees in Iracing... LOL
niels speak about yout work on iracing
Niels is over somewhere that a way. Like you know, not here, but over there.
Was that last crash guy in P1?
Yes
Nice driving, box
Cup+Nordeschliefe = kick in the lower region
Is it me or the track is way more bumpy in iRacing than Assetto Corsa? Sometimes it looks wider too
Since the games use different engines the graphics and perception will look different, wether the tracks are identical or not I'm not sure - but I'd assume they are both laser scanned.
You're right B Faria. Iracing's method of laser scanning includes a denser point cloud and is therefore more precise than AC's.
The curbs in iracing seem to be more shallow than AC and R3E, or is that just me?
Love this track, still learning it tho, if iracing add the Nissan GTR Nismo id never play another racing game :)
pocha mn bota o download do jogo
are u using clutch?
Only for the start. There is no need any other time.
Just. Wow!
Is this car inferior to the gt3 cars?
Miguel Martins yes. this isnt a GT3 car
Yes, but does it have big differences in terms of power, weight, handling, etc...
Miguel Martins yes. it just isnt a GT3 car. thats just the game of Porsche's 'Super 911' no similarities at all
It's less powerful, fewer assists (IRL they have ABS as an option up to the series the car is running in), worse tires, worse aero - it's "not even close" to a GT3 car. It produces lap times a few seconds slower.
Oh ok, because its called GT3 Cup I thought it was just a GT3 spec 911 but more ready for endurance races.
Amazing dude 🤔
That was fucken amazing!!!!!
hey Empty Box. are you excited for dirt?
cant wait for dirt at all!!
Do they race sprint cars on dirt?
Yeah but that's a different series I'm goona take part in.
Might still be a matter of familiarity but I still find the RUF GT3 more predictable on this track. Getting used to the new Porsche on smoother tracks isn't bad though.
I don't underestand how people enjoy low FOV setting playing racing. It's like trying to see through a chicken's butt hole.
Added precision, proper scaling, more confidence as you have proper scaling and everything falls into the place your brain knows it should be even when it's off screen.
Easier to follow than to lead that's why
Wow this track is so realistic, i know because ive been there for real with my gti
what a driving
Now i can see why there's no commentary lolol
i guess you could had a better setup for this race...
Are you sure about that? What about increasing tire pressure, wouldn't that balloon the tire out for a higher gear ratio? @emptybox
You would THINK if you were going to comment as such, you'd actually have a clue what you are commenting on.
AOD RACING #6!
Eh! :-)
Nice Race
Nice car

stop using dxtory. use shadowplay and record your mic with audacity. most games are heavy cpu bound, iracing is no different, and shadowplay uses your vga to record.
Shadowplay is junk.
In what way? Just asking because I've used it often, both for recording gameplay + voice but also to broadcast with or without voice. I was actually about to recommend it when I heard you complaining about dxtory. Never had any issues.

Ah, makes sense. I only play locked at 60 fps so perhaps that why I'm not having any issues with it.
sounds like a dentists drill.
whats going on guuys.
Notice me senpai
Please send pie.
too many donkey driver in this serie right now. everybody want to drive the Porsche, but only feu really know how to drive it before going on a race. especially on the nordschleife.
can i ask after watching a lot of your videos how you are able to drive "balls to the wall" behind the driver? most time i do this and those drivers end up braking too early and i hit them OR the other way around someone drives to close to me and tail ends me...
William Wu You have to give up your knowledge of the track and drive based off them. when i am tucked under somebodys bumper, im not worried about passing until i learn how they drive. im just following and watching, making mental notes to use.
