  • Impression of Egypt along the Nile. More detailed videos of the 7-day Nile Cruise: • 🇪🇬 Nile Cruise (Egypt)
    Egyptian civilization have depended on the river Nile since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along the Nile valley north of Aswan. Silt deposits from the Nile made the surrounding land fertile because the river overflowed its banks annually. The Ancient Egyptians cultivated and traded wheat, flax, papyrus and other crops around the Nile. The Nile was also a convenient and efficient means of transportation for people and goods. Nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt are found along river banks.
    The Nile was an important part of ancient Egyptian spiritual life and considered to be a causeway from life to death and the afterlife. The east was thought of as a place of birth and growth, and the west was considered the place of death. Thus, all tombs were west of the Nile, because the Egyptians believed that in order to enter the afterlife, they had to be buried on the side that symbolized death.

    For detailed information about each monument see the description of each individual video: • 🇪🇬 Nile Cruise (Egypt)
    Except for:
    The Colossi of Memnon (51:16) are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during the Dynasty XVIII. For the past 3,400 years (since 1350 BC), they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor. Two shorter figures are carved into the front throne alongside his legs: these are his wife Tiye and mother Mutemwiya. The side panels depict the Nile god Hapy.
    The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities (55;30), known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, in Cairo-Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. It houses the world's largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities.
    Part of the collection will be moved to the new Grand Egyptian Museum set to open in 2020. It will house Tutankhamun's complete collection of between 4000 and 5000 artefacts, many of which are undergoing restoration and have never been displayed; the vast collection we have viewed at the old museum represents only about a third of the whole. The Grand Egyptian Museum is located on 50 hectares at Giza, two kilometres from the Grand Pyramids. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo will remain open.

    Wat onwijs veel informatie! Echt heel mooi gemaakt :-)
    Schrok wel van de drukte op sommige plekken. Zeker Abu Simbel...
    Was het ondanks het groep/tour verband makkelijk om even wat afstand te nemen van de groep voor films/foto's? Ik fotografeer graag, en wacht gerust even voor een foto met minder mensen. Vond u dit goed te doen?
    Nogmaals bedankt voor de mooie indruk!!

    • @StuartsTRAVELvideos
      @StuartsTRAVELvideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bedankt voor je leuke reactie, Kathinka. Ik denk dat het voor een deel afhangt van de gids. Wij hadden daarbij geluk. De normale procedure was uitleg aan het begin bij een monument, met daarna tijd om rond te lopen (45-60 min). Maar onze (Egyptische) gids gaf ons ook de vrijheid om niet bij de uitleg aanwezig te zijn en direct zelf te verkennen. Ik heb daar gebruik van gemaakt zodat ik meer tijd had om te filmen. De meeste mensen niet want de uitleg (in het Nederlands) was altijd de moeite waard. Maar ja, soms moet je keuzes maken en voor mij kwam het filmen op de eerste plaats. Wat de drukte betreft, onze gids vertelde dat het toerisme in Egypte weer aan het opkomen is dus verwacht nog meer drukte. Ik vind zelfs dat we hebben geboft met de drukte door de goede planning van onze gids Essam: th-cam.com/video/IRL4szkkTcc/w-d-xo.html

      @kathinkavanhemert7208 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StuartsTRAVELvideos Heel erg bedankt voor uw antwoord. Pff dus vooral voorbereiden op drukte! Normaliter regel ik alles zelf en zorg ik dat we als eerste ergens zijn, of heel heel vroeg haha maar met zo'n nijlcruise lijkt het me niet handig alles zelf te regelen. Ik hoop dat wij die vrijheid ook zullen hebben, lang stilstaan kan ik sowieso niet met mijn rug. Heeft u nog goede tips? Hoop stiekem dat die dam te skippen is, vond dat een minder interessant stukje haha

    • @StuartsTRAVELvideos
      @StuartsTRAVELvideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Voordat we bij Corendon hebben geboekt hebben we naar opties gekeken van een Nijlcruise op maat. De conclusie was dat je uiteindelijk ongeveer dezelfde cruise krijgt met dezelfde (standaard) bestemmingen, maar dan met privé begeleiding/gids. Wat het nadeel is dat je continu een gids om je heen hebt. En véél meer betaald. Net zoals jij zouden we bepaalde bestemmingen hebben geschrapt, maar achteraf waren we blij dat ze in het pakket zaten. In Egypte kun je niet veilig zelfstandig reizen of autorijden, je hebt altijd begeleiding nodig. De Nijlcruise met Corendon was één van onze beste vakanties. Een aanrader, zeker voor het geld. Juist door de georganiseerde groepsreis was het relaxt. Stel je in op de drukte en wellicht valt het allemaal mee. Er blijven hoogst waarschijnlijk genoeg mooie momenten over. De dam was zeker niet het hoogtepunt van de reis maar we zijn niet lang gebleven. De dam is wel een belangrijk onderdeel geweest van de Egypte geschiedenis en ontwikkeling. Mijn tips? Laat het los. Go with the flow. :-)

      @@StuartsTRAVELvideos Ik heb inderdaad ook intensief onderzoek gedaan. En die prive dingen werden mij ook te duur.

    Egypt is the most dangerous place for tourists in the world. Read up on the recent case of Giulio Regeni, the poor Italian university student who was abducted off the street by egypian police and ended up repeatedly tortured and homosexually raped by the local police chief, before being finally murdered and his body dumped by the same police who abducted him. The real horror is that Regeni was just one, while egyptian lawyers and activists state that at least twenty thousand young egyptians suffer a similar fate at the hands of egyptian military and police EVERY YEAR. For God's sake, do not let your young people travel to this mad, cruel, corrupt country, run by thugs and perverts. Do not go there yourself. Once the police decide to abduct you, to rob, rape or whatever, your chances of getting out alive are negligible. Read up on the Regeni case. The police lied repeatedly and refused to co-operate with international investigations. But the truth got out, in piecemeal fashion, in the end. But, the horror is in the real numbers of more than twenty thousand Egyptian Regenis who die awful deaths EVERY YEAR in this sick, and dangerous nest of perverts and thugs.

      You keep saying lies , Egypt is safe and millions are coming every year and they have great memories . I am wondering what is the reason after spending more than half an hour to write your stupid comment ? Who paid you to write that .
