Ford stopped using the 6 litre diesel from Navistar on the E series in 2009.Only on the current F series and the new transit there are diesel options. This is why, for now, Montreal is using the Chevrolet Express, with a 6.6 DuraMax Diesel.
Ron Rush You're absolutely right. I would add that some 2010 and 2011 ambulances still used Ford Diesel body, but that's because the Ford body in itself was a 2009 model year. I remember that Demers Ambulance bought a lot of 2009 Ford Diesel chassis to be used the next years...
The current E series 350,450 are still avaible with van fronts for fleet orders(Ambulance prep package, school bus, camper) till the 2017 model year. To respect new tough environmental laws for the USA, this model will be discontinued. The new Transit has arrived here and has several choice of configurations and engines including both gas and diesel. The first Ambulance prototypes are starting to arrive.
