i main ornn and sometimes i wish i wouldnt have to give an upgrade to someone because they just dont deserve it but winning and the passive stats are more important

I think they should make it so when you play with an Ornn on your team your first slot is highlighted in a different color, and if you hover over it it says "the item on this slot can be upgraded by Ornn" so everybody knows how to use his passive

or It could work like support item's upgrade. You get upgraded by ornn, and you get to choose which one of your items you want to get upgraded.
Coming from an Ornn main the main thing I think most players will agree with what needs to be overhauled is the item upgrade selection process. Such as the person playing ornn being able to select the item to be upgraded or have each player have an item vote or something so the ornn player can’t troll them and vice versa. Because right now it’s whatever item is closest to 1st slot which is so annoying having to explain to all 4 teammates every game.
they could highlight the first slot (maybe similar to the masterwork item border), so it's at least a bit more intuituive to just put your "strongest item" there
It’s also annoying because you might want to have an active item on slot 1 or 2 but forget to move it when its time to upgrade.
The first slot mechanic is annoying because everyone moves their actives to 1 2 and 3. In that order. So an Ornn means moving it all to 2 3 4 if what they wanted upgraded doesn't have a passive. An Ornn can break muscle memory where I'm not thinking about where everything is and just expect buttons I press to do what I told them to do.

But I keep active in 2 and moving forward cause for some reason it's a lot easier for me to remember that it's on the longer finger in my hand and thus has more mobility (plus I can make less mistakes if using Q which for most champions it's their bread and butter... But I'll be sincere, I'll forget I have an active 90% of the time... Zonyas has less use for me than any other item cause of this and it makes it a worse buy for me over all XD lol

I agree the unique names are great, but I also like to express my dismay over the confusion it causes in game.
Had a game where Jhin completed his IE and Ornn upgraded it to Molten Edge. Jungle spam pings Jhin's Molten Edge but only half of us followed the script. The other 2 still play front to back instead of all in back-to-front. We got wiped & those 2 thought Jhin bought some sort of TANK ITEM.

As an ornn main... This is a sad day, no more Obsidian Cleaver, Leviathan, Edge of Finality or Infinity Force, you will be missed.
Plus, I feel it'll be a lot more confusing for other players now having to check which item is gonna have the most impact for those 1K gold, not confusing per se, but for anyone who already didn't get the passive masterwork itself haha
Its just a skill issue tbh, they still get the same gold value just have to switch on brain enough to know what stats are more valuable.
I think this is the right choice, as making extra items for one champion is pretty unsustainable. But I'm also sad that much of the flavor of having the upgraded items is gone, it is awesome seeing the cool names of the items in my inventory.

Your ally should just have a selection menu like Neeko and Kindred passives that lets you pick an item to improve in your inventory when Ornn “upgrades” you. It would make this system much simpler than needing to tell people about the first inventory slot thing with Ornn items which isn’t immediately obvious.
And you'd be able to quickly/easily compare the possible items you could get.
Waiting for the bug where ornn upgrades your whole inventory twice

they need to add new UI to upgrading items from ornn, very unfriendly for newer players (oooo scary)

I'd assume they'll round the stats to the nearest 5, so 70 or 65 for that example. wouldn't make sense to start adding odd numbers when items have usually have even numbers on stats
Imagine you get upgraded mejai and immediately lose all stacks.
They boost the cap to 30 stacks but you lose 15 on death

Since it splits the bonus stats evenly, I wonder if there's a way to "game" the Ornn upgrade.
Like, getting 50 AP from your Deathcap is arguably better than getting 25 AP and 25 armor from a Zhonya's.

A big problem with the item slot determining what item ornn upgrades (as a non ornn player myself) is that I always have a specific spot for each item based on the active. Having my main active on 2 (eg. zhonyas) and my less important active in 1 (eg. Youmuus) for example.
I'm not going to change my item order to get the right upgrade to then accidentally zhonyas and get myself killed..
A possible workaround: go into your League's keybind settings and just swap the Zhonya's slot with the 1st slot for binding. It may look weird on the hotbar but you wouldn't have to change how you play.
I think it's actually not a bad change. Sad that the unique names of the Masterwork items are getting removed, but this makes Ornn upgrades a LOT more transparent in that you can upgrade items situationally depending on the stats you need in a given game. The alternative is moving the same item to the first item slot every game and not having that same variability in item builds; this also has the effect of punishing players who don't know which item to upgrade, as the current version places a lot more value on the item effects rather than the stats.
I am going to miss those unique names that expanded my vocabulary such as syzygy
I think there should be a UI element in your inventory when Ornn is on your team maybe like a grayed out version of the masterwork symbol on the first slot.
Guardian Angel should give 69 AD and 69 armor. That 1 armor is barely going to make a difference anyway

I had an ARAM game today where a Tristana did not build any items I could upgrade for them, which shorted my stats a bit. We still won because the enemy team couldn't kill me though (Unending Despair at 5 second cooldown is crazy).

Looks more clear and more futureproof. Since the removal of mythics I didnt know which items Ornn can even upgrade and the shop didnt have a filter for it afaik.
Ornn's teammates should get a popup like Ornn's in-game crafting is. In there you should be able to pick out the items you want to upgrade, or if you don't have an item you want to upgrade, you could select none and Ornn doesn't get the arrows to upgrade you.
This would be a much better mechanic than having the item you want upgraded in your first slot, but then you aren't even aware Ornn can upgrade and he just upgrades a random which does not have the stats you desire.
Im interested in a tierlist of all the upgrades. Sure the pure gold value is the same overall, but some items use the stats that are boosted in their passives, which makes the increase more valuable.
Now i know to move the item i want upgraded to the first slot. Always thought it was random lol

Also fun little fact about the current items: While e.g. rabadons does give the promised 50 AP already by now, they screwed up infinity edges gold worth in stats when upgrading in 14.10... Its AD goes up from 80 to 95, being just about 500g worth of upgrade. I guess they just forgot to upgrade it, because 30 AD would be about 1000 gold worth of stats
I usually put actives on the first slot and not all actives have good upgrades. Maybe they should change that thing too?
Move item you want upgraded to first, then swap
Change is good, you can now easily choose what stats you want to be upgraded depending what you need more in the match, now you get the full Ornn value

This might suck for Ornn himself since he has no control over when he gets his upgrade. E.g. if you want to upgrade Jak'Sho but don't have it yet so it just upgrades Sunfire

I don't like how it's still based on the item in your first slot, meaning you have to keep that in the back of your mind when you're organizing your bag (especially annoying for champs who use items with actives), but I like how there's going to be no more objectively worse upgrades.

The zephyr uograde is actually insane, since the movespeed doesnt get upgraded all 1000 gold gets dumped into the attack speed, meaning uou get a MASSIVE attack speed steroid that I'm sure onhit champs will love
It actually isnt, because lethal tempo doesnt exist anymore. Onhit champs tend to have AS steroid, and pretty much every item they build has heavy ammounts of attack speed. You're just gonna cap it late.

I'm really curious why the support items aren't able to be upgraded. It feels like a no-brainer, because as a support, that's the one item you are guaranteed to have, and so it would make sense to give it an upgrade. At least I always felt that way with the old system. With the new system... maybe they could add it here? Did Riot give any reasoning yet why they don't want to upgrade the support item?
well the only stats support items gives is health, mana regen, health regen. Ornn upgrade only increases certain stats that are already present. Meaning it would only give you 375 health which is extremely bad on non-tank supports
@@loke5052 you know what, that actually does make perfect sense. I was still thinking along the lines of how his old/current ult works. Yeah, 375 hp isn't terrible as a support, but other stats are in general just more usable

What if they made it when you upgrade a player it brings up an "augment page that lets you quickly select the item of the player you want upgraded. No player slot moving around and it should be up to orn to chose what item he wants to upgrade for his team since he is the one blacksmithing the item.
Another option instead of ornn chosing just let him smash the blacksmith to grant a player a coin (buff) that allows them to upgrade any potential item of their chosing.
They're masterworks, all. You can't go wrong.

Found a bug with Bel'veth. If you play her support, the support item will proc and drop the minion to 1hp but not execute it so adc will lose the minion and you will as well.
Btw isnt immortal Shieldbow the only crit item that still has 20% crit instead of 25?

No, All crit Items are being change to 25%
Only The quiver is getting the 20% crit chance treatment
If there is Orn in your team then top left slot in your inventory should have diffrent frame or shape so that you know this item, in this slot, will get upgraded.
OR
Just let the player choose what item he want to upgrade
example:
Orn player rightclick on you then you get all your items on screen and choose which item you want to upgrade.
P.S. Still there is no button to stack Mejai in practice mode
Very smart move to not need to maintain this. Now every new item and every item change is dynamically coded. While the flavour is gone this takes a lot of time and effort of for a single champion. This also means that future champions can have more unique abilities if the changes can be applied dynamically and not need to be thought over with every new inclusion.
We need ornn masterwork items tierlist now!
They need to make a name for every newly upgradable item.
Thats 90 new names and then 15 languages for each item. Not worth the investment at all.

They did this to avoid having to do extra work every time they rework items, which is often. They could've at least kept the names we already had with no promises to make new names for all the others.
And now, we wait to find what item is bugged and gives more or less stats than it should.
Man, I really don't like how they removed original names, but I guess it makes sense when every item is upgradeable.
I'll take the Ornn QoL over flavour text anyday.

Moon Stone proc Font of Life only for One champion if you have Staff of Flowing Water and ardent censer
I Tested with Lee sin, it works redemption and W if you have aery.
I tested with Shaco With Font of life and aery, it didn't proc the Heal to next ally, i didn't see nothing on patch notes about the rune changes.
BUT if you have aery with Shaco and use redemption + MoonStone it procs to next ally
Also, now you can apply slow on enemies with Echoes of Helia + Font Of Life
Just today I played on Ornn, my shooter and mage did not have items for improvement and cursed at me for not improving their items...

Every class can get his main stat upgraded exept for lethality for assassin. It seems like riot recently hates assassins

Here is how I think gold values should be adjusted:
- 1% Attack Speed should be equal to 1 Ability Haste
- 1 Flat Lethality should be equal to Armor
- 1 Flat Magic Pen should be equal to Magic Res
Is this their solution for people not know what the best items to upgrade are? Its really frustrating as ornn player when people dont know what their own best upgrades are.
78% AS on masterwork zephyr is crazy
This is kinda broken for adc mains, if you have an AP ou AD assassin you just build a high Armor/MR item and upgrade it (like frozen heart or malmortius)
Honestly, this is a good change. With the reversion to non-mythics, the whole upgrade system with Ornn; knowing which items can or cannot be upgraded was tedious at best to wrap your head around. At least now with all items being upgradeable. You as the non-Ornn player can focus on which of the 5 (or 6) items you want upgraded be placed in the first slot; instead of wondering what items you do (not) have, need upgrading. Simply removing this step entirely makes things more cohesive. A+
Good thing I don’t use active items on my 1 button anymore. Because I am pretty sure, that an ever frost upgrade would Troll the f out of me. (Usually my items were, 1 offense, 2 defense, 3 mobility, but 3 is also redemption. Yes I play a lot of archetypes.)

Is this the only way they can dodge Ornn bugs?
Since they overhauled stats to no longer be manually hard coded onto items, this means that the game can now actually count what stats the items give you (it couldn't before, basically up until last patch the items "told" the game what to do to your statline, which is different). So now this allows them to do things such as what we're seeing with the new Ornn items.
