And I assume the HEK has enough power to run the m32? I'd heard that it needs more than usual, but is it working okay for you?
Sorry for late reply, I stopped getting notifications for messages (also, same person just using my personal account). If i'm not already too late; yes the HEK has enough for the Mo32 and 6 other smaller modules.
My first problem with power I came across is when I tried to add my Behringer Model D to my current setup. The AC Adaptor wasn't enough so I ended up having to order the larger one (i'll make a vid about it once it arrives). The larger one peaks at 3000mA which means you can get about 2000mA out of it before it starts playing up. That should easily be enough to run both the Mo32, Behringer Model D, and maybe about 11 other 6hp modules, and it was only $30 USD.
This video is epic. Perfect explainer for newbies and a great way to make Eurorack affordable / accessible without the carpentry skills to build a case from scratch. Nice one 👌

Question...is there enough space at the bottom of the IKEA KIT for 1RU row at the bottom of the case?
Thank You for explaining it to me (I'm slower then an old man in slippers). I was trying to buy rails but don't understand the lengths( trying to mount inside an old service case 20 2/16 wide).
No worries. Made this video because I myself was strugling to find an explenation of basic things like power modules and rail sizes, so i'm glad i could be of help.
If anyone can direct to where I can find dimensions for a shelf/rack like this or other simple diy dimensions I’d greatly appreciate it. Bummed Ikea stopped selling these.

hey, if anyone knows if it's possible to build a eurorack setup with the basic modules for a budget of maximum 200 USD, that would be amazing
Not a hope in hell
Unfortunately that's just not possible. Like not even close. Quite a few necessary modules just to start (such as a filter, lfo, or oscillator) could cost close to $200 each.
If you're super interested in these kind of synths but are on a budget you're better off saving up for a semi-modular, such as a Korg MS-20 Mini or a Behringer Neutron, or a Make Noise 0-Coast.

Why is no one using a normal computer PSU? It outputs 12V and 5V and can source enough power for everything.
You also need -12V for Eurorack.
ikea no longer offers ras night stands :(
Yeah, such a shame. I'll make a new vid soon and include instructions on how to easily build a case similar to this, but using hardware store timber rather than the ikea night stand.

Rast is cool but not for eurorack. better suited for outboard gear, its just too bulky.
