Seeing the D.O.C. was quite a surprise. I agree that finding the proper angle is hit and miss, but very rewarding once achieved. As usual, I find myself shopping for Wickham's, because I saw Kevy use it. .

That looked like a great shave Kevy. I would love to try Wickhams soap. I have also noticed the ingredients list on Thayers. What stood out to me is how far down the list witch hazel is. It seems to be more glycerin, alcohol, and water than witch hazel, however I do enjoy it very much. Most witch hazel has some alcohol in it. You can buy Thayers without it in some scents. Hello Kevy, you brought me back to when I grew up in Italy in the fifties - Coca Cola with a slice of lemon and a little ice was a luxury drink for us kids growing up after the war.... On a different note, Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel is a fantastic product, together with the lavender and cucumber, makes for a great post shave and is very skin friendly. Cheers

Great video kevy, as usual. I remember playing the festivals around here, they were such a blast, there were so many bands playing so many different styles of music. We knew alot of them so we used to sit in on songs with other bands which was really cool cause you could do some stupid pop song then go sit in on a blues jam and cap it off with some freakin metal.
That's a great story. I used to do that too. I'd sit in with bands and then invite them up to play at our gigs. Also the end of the festival, there was usually a big jam with lots of different musicians. Brilliant memories. Cheers. Kevy.

I don't have the Arko cream Dave. I have a puck of the soap in the red bowl. I've not used that yet but I have tried the Arko stick in a pass around box but it was when I was just starting out shaving this way and I can't really recall much about it. Nice shave Kevy, i had this very shave on Sunday. Well, except the blade, mine was a Lab Blue. I quite like the Paa Doc but i wouldn't call it efficient for me, it's by far the least aggressive razor i ever tried, i genuinely need about 5 passes to get to where even a 34c gets me in 3. Beautiful looking razor, but very very mild. I think the brush is my favourite brush, and Club Cola is such a vibrant lemon and lime scent. Reminds me of Sprite fizzy ginger.
Nice one! Using the PAA DOC felt different for me today. Not sure if it was the combination of the blade and the soap but it felt really good using it and shaved me very close with a few days growth. another great video kevy! maybe i missed the video, or its already been suggested; but i really recommend you try rinsing your razor off in a cup of ice cold water. grab a few ice cubes and after each rinse of the blade dip it into the cold water. it feels amazing, especially on a hot day! cheers

It does look very aggressive but honestly it isn't. It's very comfortable to use and it just does what it's supposed to do. I like how it leaves the soap trails on the face so that you can shave over any bits you want to get closer on each pass. It really was one of the best shaves I've ever had. In my top 5. I would reckon the base for the soap will be the same formula Chris with just the scents being different. The Club cola has a great fresh scent with hints of lemon that creep through every now and then. I really like the scent on it. I haven't tried the Russian Leather yet. What do you think of it Chris?

Right now, my wife stands behind me and asks me why i am looking men shaving. How would you compare the Rapira Super Stainless to the Rapira Platinum Lux. I don't find the Platinum Lux smooth or sharp. I doubt I would buy another pack. Have you tried the Polsilver Super Iridiums yet? I think you'll have no problem doing the ATG 3rd pass on the mustache area with those. When you were in the blues band, what guitar did you play? You might find this BBC special fascinatibg (if you haven't seen it already). It's about the history of Vox amplifiers, and like such companies as Hofner, Rickenbacker and Ludwig, they took off when the Beatles were seen using their product. The story of the deal they made with Beatles manager Brian Epstein is worth the watch alone, as is the comparison of the Vox AC30 to other amps: th-cam.com/video/54s3386KZVI/w-d-xo.html

They sold plenty when George Harrison was seen playing the Gretsch Country Gentleman in the early sixties and John Lennon was seen with his Epiphone Casino in the late sixties. If I'm honest, I preferred the Rapira super stainless blades over the Platinum Lux. I didn't think they were that great. I've definitely tried Polsilvers SI's but I'm not sure if it was a filmed shave. I have a few packs of them in my blade stash. I've owned a few guitars when I was playing. I've had Gibson Les Paul's and a Gibson 335, a couple of Fender strat's and a custom shop Fender Telecaster. Had a few amps too in that time. I never owned a Vox AC30 amp but I have played through one on a couple of gigs. Great sounding amps and still being made today. Yes they never were big Fender players in the earlier Beatles era. I've still got an Epiphone guitar. I kept that as it's great to play and has a lovely tone to it.
I still have my Epiphone acoustic from 1970 (made in the USA back then). The wood is tremendous but it needs work . The neck is warped and it needs to be glued. I'm not sure if you watched the BBC special on Vox amps that I linked to, but I also think you'll find these articles of great interest. I`ll try 2 explain it, but my english isnt so fluent! The soap is pressed into the jar wave shaped for easy or better loading in my opinion.

I also own this razor and have found it is not as aggressive as it looks. In fact I will shim the blade with a single "bushing".
