Is looting and destruction/desecration the same thing? Not that looting is acceptable, but isn’t there a degree of difference between the two?

Ancient temples also dated as banks and were the cornerstone of the ancient Indian economic system. Looting Temple treasuries and doing so while destroying the idols in a temples are two entirely different things. The Government of Andhra still loots the Temple Treasury of Tirupati while the Idol remains intact.

I wanted to counter the argument suggesting that both Hindus and Muslims exploited Kashmiri temples, as it seems overly generalized. Using a contemporary analogy, consider the claim that Siddaramaiah is allegedly redistributing Hindu money to Muslims (though the veracity of this news is uncertain). Based on this, can we say Hindus are exploiting Karnataka temples?
Historically, no Hindu king during the Mughal era exploited temples solely for personal gain. The public did not resonate with such actions, but they were often helpless.

Trying to justify temple destruction by invader by false comparison with Indian king destroying temple.
First there has to be a reason why someone destroy a temple, if king is a hindu then he might understand temple importance and there is less chance that they will completely destroy temple and idol, there may have been few king who might have destroyed temple but reason and sources need to be verified.
On the other hand there is reason why Muslim ruler destroyed temple and idol because they consider idol worshipping as bad and they considered it as their moral religious duty to destroy peganism. This is not something new to India, temple destruction happened across middle east and wherever Islam spread starting from muhammad time.
Problem with so called left liberal is that they don't understand a thing about Islam and keep making false equivalence.

Also, waqf board collects 7% of all earnings from waqf properties aka mosques. Waqf board members are selected by Ministry of Minority Affairs and state waqf board members are selected by the elected state govt. Waqf board is a govt. board. So, it's wrong to only complain if a few temples are taxed.

Actually if Muslim kings had done this for the religion, they could have easily finished all North Indian temples and converted most Hindus to Islam...! 1-Harsh was not the first Kashmiri ruler who looted temples ,it was Shamkaravarman or Shankaravarman who looted the wealth of temples ,the reason being he was a expansionist ruler so he regularly went on war against his neighbouring kings because of which he ran out of money and decided to loot the wealth of temples. He even formed two departments known as Attapatibhaga and Grhakrtya to seize all money of the towns, the households, villages and the the total numbers of temples which were looted was 64.(Source- Rajatarangini[Taranga V-166 to 169 ,translation by R.S Pandit)
2-Harsa's destruction of temples is very different from that of Shankarvarman , as Harsa simply not looted temples because they had vast amount of wealth ,he desecrated the idols and images of gods. Description of what he did with idols goes like this ''Ordure and Urine were done on the faces of Idols by naked mendicants, the idols made of gold, silver and other metals were rolled like bundles on the roads in excrements, ankles of idols were tied with rope and were dragged, while people spitted on them instead of flowers, there was not even one temple in Srinagar who image was not despoiled ''.We can clearly see the difference between Harsa and Shankaravarman ,this why Harsa is regarded as 'Turkusha King'.[Source -Rajatarangini (Taranga VII-1089 to 1095),translation by R.S Pamdit]
3-I really like how you downplayed the destruction of temples and persecution of Hindu done by Sikander Butshikan (destroyer of idols).Under the rule of Sikander there was complete ,out and out destruction of temples ,famous of them being Maratand ,Vishaya ,Ishana,Chakrabhrit and Tripureshvara. Malik Suhabhatt was the army general of Sikander ,who went one step further as he imposed Jizya on non-muslims and Brahmans,he stopped all the allowances to brahmans so they could not spread knowledge. At this point of time Brahmans started to flee from Kashmir to save themselves from the torture .Many of them committed suicides by means of poison ,some by rope ,some by drowning themselves in waters and the most gruesome was burning themselves rather then converting to islam. Those who could not escape started wearing muslim clothes in the fear of being forced to convert .[Source -Rajatarangini of Jonaraja ,translated by J.C Dutt (pg-60,65 to 67)
4-Let's know the role played by peaceful Sufis in conversion and persecution of Hindus. Sayyid Ali Hamadani who was a Sufi saint , visited kashmir at the time of Sultan Qutub-ud-Din . Sultan paid him the highest regard by receiving him personally . Hamadani got upset after seeing the condition of Islam in kashmir as the basic rules of Islam were not followed by any one ,even by the muslims and not even by Sultan ,as he had married two women who were uterine sisters which was against islmaic law .Hamadani forced Sultan to divorce one of his two wives ,which he did. Hamadani didn't like that muslims wore the same cloths as infidels (Hindus) ,even Sultan wore the dress of infidels ,so at the behest of Hamadani he abandoned that costume and adopted the Muslim dress. Hamadani urged Sultan that following 'convenant' be imposed on infidels(Hindus) and some these were - i) Hindus will not build new idol temples ,ii)Hindus will not repair any fallen temple, iii)Muslim travelers will be allowed to stay in temples, iv)Hindus can not possess swords ,arrows or bows, v) Hindus can not ride horses with saddle and bridle, vi)Hindus can not mourn their dead loudly, etc.[Sources -Baharistan-i-Shahi by Kashinath Pandit, The World of Fatwas by Arun Shourie.]
5-Another famous Sufi saint who played a important role in forceful conversion of kashmir , the destruction of temples and putting an end to the practices of infidels(Hindus) was 'Shamsud-Din Muhammad Araki' who visited Kashmir at the time of Sultan Hasan Shah .Araki was born in Solghan in Northern Iran and belonged to Nurbakshi order .After arriving in Kashmir Araki got angry towards mullas of kashmir as most of their wives were polytheist and infidels . Araki despised that rituals and practices of infidels were followed by muslims in marriages. Araki made a firm resolve to give a crushing defeat to the enemies of the people and the opponents of the religion of Islam in this land (kashmir) a hotbed of corrupt people, he determined to raise high the banner of islam, demolish the customs and traditions of Idol worshippers. One day Araki went for an excursion to the Hari Parbat ,where he encountered a horse rider whose name was Mantji , Araki followed by few sufis asked whether he was a kafir or muslim ,they recognized that he was a kafir and not a muslim because of his Zunnar(ceremonial thread) .Araki ordered that the man be pulled down from his horse ,Sufis obeyed and Araki threw him down on the ground and thrashed. Araki saw Zainul-Abidin as a enemy of the true faith ,because he allowed infidels to follow their religion and with the permission of this blasphemous ruler, many muslims returned to their old faiths and started the idol worshipping .After the reign of this heretic ruler there was hardly a village which did not have two or three temples. After Zainul reign the population of kafirs had increased and the muslims were not true to their faith as once Araki called the rich traders, aristocrats and asked them about the basic tenets of Islam and nobody was able to give a proper answer ,Araki ordered them to immediately recite the Islamic Kelima and all of them had to go through circumcision and the elites who find it difficult to get circumcised in public places where allowed to call barbers to their homes to get circumcised .Men were converted forcefully in public places , but the problem of women was more serious ,even after their husbands were converted to Islam they continued idol worshipping in their homes secretly , so Araki decided to tackle this problem .Araki selected pious ,puritanical ,honest and trustworthy dervishes and Sufis and a task was assigned to them . They were sent to each and every household whether be in a village or town. When they came to a homestead ,they would get hold of the cow belonging to the housekeeper ,kill it and sit down to eat beef in the company of womenfolk and family members. To tackle with the increasing number of temples Araki organized a brigade of dervishes with instructions to destroy a idol house wherever they find it or an idol or a trace of idolatry , they would swoop on it ,pull down the temple and eradicate the customs and practices of idolatry . A little correction however, the man's name was not Kalhana but Kanhaiya and the date was 2024 when Kanhaiya and his marauding mob from JNU and Jamia walked to the front of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Kanhaiya a great hindu temple breaker had already terrorized most of North India... and had set his eyes to break the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya recently completed under Raja Raja Modi. Legend says while climbing the temple steps of the mandir a voice from heaven announced that Raja Raja Modi had defeated Bahubali Pappu.... Kanhaiya's men dispersed and were never seen again.
