    The shocks on the ranger are adjustable with a provided tool which will either firm up the suspension to prevent sag or soften it for a smoother ride. They come from factory all the way soft.

    Good video. We use half front windshield and it solves the dust issue.

    I still love my 2008 Yamaha Rhino 700. We have a windshield, detachable doors and a jeep like soft top that makes it nice for the dogs and equipment. Of course it is in camo.

    I have a gravely atlas. Has Polaris engine and Polaris parts and it is amazing. If you want work and play, it is the utv for you. I think of it as a cross between a gator and a ranger

    We've had the Viking 6 Ranch Edition and don't get the jerking like we did with the Ranger Crew. 1/2 windshield makes the dust less of an issue also provides a wind breaker but gives you a nice breeze

      Cool....I'll check that model out...this windshield was glass...surprising to me...very sturdy but I imagine the end of that windshield with be a shattering experience...Thanks Rachael

    About 3 years ago we hauled these machines only a no name brand out of Texas and if I remember correctly they where running wholesale for around $8,000. I got the managers information because at one time I was going to sell them retail. Once we get our land we plan on going back to get one. Some of the Tractor Supplies sell them but they are definitely the upgraded ones because I have seen some at other Tractor Supplies and they where generic compared to the ones in Texas that we haul. Just like anything else you are paying for the name. That why this one cost $16,000. To be honest I think the machines we hauled out of Texas where better quality.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say ....also hard to say much about the quality of the build...I'm not too sure you are paying for just the name...I think you are paying for intelligently engineered machines that a quality tested, now that being said...I have a Gator 825i.....John Deere is a name you have to pay for....even my dealer told me that "Green Paint" makes things cost more! Odds are all these machines are manufactured in the same factory in some far off country....but the tractor supply ones are very "hinky" non-commercial type machines....the Ranger and the Gator would crush those tractor supply machines....definitely not "apples to apples" comparison

    • @ThriftyTruckers
      @ThriftyTruckers 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stoney Ridge Farmer, Like I said Tractor Supply does not sell the machines we picked up everywhere. Yes, they do sell a cheaply type but this type we hauled will blow the doors off of the Gator and the Polaris. We hauled them to lower Alabama. They where top quality machines just a no name brand.

    • @ThriftyTruckers
      @ThriftyTruckers 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      2010mfgc2400, Nit sure what planet you are living on but all semi trucks are named brand and all of them have proved millions of miles.
      So you mean to tell me that these big companies like Polaris don't have off name brand companies? You are obviously being blinded by the fact that name brand companies don't make products for off name brand companies.
      The reason I don't know the name of the company is because I took it out of my repertoire and stored it on a piece of paper for later use when I need it. Plus we delivered those over 4 years ago, would you remember the name?
      What you need to take out of all of this is don't be, Naïve

  • @joecorrie1
    @joecorrie1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That Polaris may be OK for camping two or three times a year or a few hunting trips but I wouldn't buy another one if I wanted something more racy I would definitely try a different brand

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So on this "ranch" there are two machines....basically the entire purpose is utility....transporting people, firearms and gear. The windshield was very nice....however the wafting of dust in ur mouth at any speed sucked....the machines sag in the rear when loaded with people and gear....disappointing....I have a gator and it's suspension is much better....not a 4 seat gator mind you but suspension wise I have no problems

    • @adamada101
      @adamada101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stoney Ridge Farmer just a suggestion; if you ever go to replace them you should consider a different brand. They are good for someone who isn't really going to use them for "hard" work. I use UTC's to hunt moose and Polaris just can't take the beatin, parts flyin all the time.

    Fix your suspension they provide the tool for you to set it up to get the extra inch and to stiffen the rear end up

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I hear....why have it come out of the box with sagging suspension though...this is a problem on my gator as well

    • @calebschwan703
      @calebschwan703 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It comes out of the box setup for trail riding. For hauling you have to adjust the suspension otherwise if it was completely torqued out the ride quality wouldn’t be as appealing to buyers. Just some food for thought.

    Polaris cant change physics.. dust will enter if you put a negative pressure in the cab with windsheilds. That why the vent is in the front glass.

  • @joecorrie1
    @joecorrie1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As far as power and suspension it has plenty of both but that's about all it's got also the seats are uncomfortable very thin padding not good if you have to spend a lot of time in it

  • @oruwatching
    @oruwatching 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have to ask. Why would I buy one of these when I can buy (for example) a 1999Jeep Cherokee, in good shape for under $3000? Plus I can drive in on the street. I am serious, I have 20 acres and these things at $16,000 have mystified me. What am I missing? Bye the way I did not know they are BELT drive, to me that's another WHAT?

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep belt driven like the clutch system on a snow mobile.....and why....well that's a very good question...we have a Gator on our farm and I considered replacing it with a Tracker or Samurai.....pricey for a 4 seater ATV.....the High Bar Homestead has them for transporting people....much more professional than just doodling around on the farm...very nice machines for transporting guns and people and gear...not that a Jeep couldnt do the same thing for cheaper

    • @oruwatching
      @oruwatching 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus AC and no dust in that Jeep. :-)

    • @Rangerxpcrew
      @Rangerxpcrew 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have had a jeep Rubicon and now have the ranger crew both have there good and bad things .
      But the ranger can run all day on 12 dollars gas will do a pretty good speed and has a front and rear Locker just like the Rubicon. built from the ground up with one purpose to beat the dirt in the Hills unlike the Rubicon which still had to be Street mobile. LOL before I get a bunch of hate messages from Jeep owners I still love the Jeeps.

  • @joecorrie1

    I've got one and the air cleaner is mounted under the left rear fender well it's technically upside down when you open it so if the clamps don't hold it tight it sucks in dust piece of shit cost me a motor about $5000 we also have 5 Kawasaki Mules 4010 diesels great tough machines not as quick with the power not as good suspension but way tougher

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what ur doing I think.....all and all I'd go with the gator for farming stuff ...go with the Ranger if ur doing trails and light hauling and if you are seriously in the market go look at the honda utv lineup....they are a non-belt driven/direct drive machine that seems to be the all around best machine made right now....as long as you dont mind the roll bar covering part of the bed...I'll do a overview of one of these machines soon...I think you'll really be impressed...plus...its a Honda...you can never go wrong with Honda products...thats my 2 cents

      NBK Rain, recently was watching Stoney Ridge Farmer's channel & saw your post about which UTV to purchase. Check out the Gator forum & specifically my post at this page by BillT on 4-17-2017 before you buy. www.johndeeregatorforum.com/showthread.php?15890-New-gator-coming!&highlight=buying+gator
      Hopefully that list will help you out & prevent some buyer's remorse. Oh & check outwww.prcforum.com the Rangers clutch engages hard & tend to jerk when taking off. With a $1000 clutch upgrade from Duraclutch, that can be fixed, whereas the Gators take off is a lot smoother. Look at everybody's forum, period. Hope this helped.
