Swarm A.I. with thousands of cheap drones armed with high explosives , being guided by satellite is absolutely terrifying. Truly the stuff of nightmares .
You've missed the entire point of AI.
A drone swarm using AI will not need any guidance at all, neither from satellite nor anything else.
They will have a range of missions they know how to complete, and the operators will only tell them where and when. The rest they will do autonomously, including target acquisition, prioritization and engagement. All while cooperating with other members of the swarm and dynamically re-tasking if a swarm member is disabled.
We've seen nothing yet. This will be on the market in two or three years.
Habakkuk 2:18,9
A.I. robots
I prayed and asked God, why did they worship, build, and see the "idols" as so important.
As in the days of Noah
why would you need swarm of thousands when dozen of single ones does the job?
Scarier still they will be autonomous to avoid satellite jamming.
Even when autonomous, drone swarms are still vulnerable to various EW countermeasures. No army in their right mind will march out onto the battlefield anymore without significant anti-drone capability.
Ironic isn't it? That more advanced automation has put the focus back on the capabilities of the individual infantryman. And that the super-solider of the 21st century might actually be a frat boy with a controller in his hands. What a world.
Just goes to show thst things like COD modern warfare are part of the agenda, not apart from it.
Small unit tactics have always been, and always will be, the backbone…
…at least until the great cybernetic pandemic of 2055. Then shit gets a little more complicated…
@@DJWESG1I think the military would much prefer actual healthy people that can act in the world instead of unhealthy gamers.
Of course an unhealthy(/non-athletic) gamer that plays COD is potentially more useful for future military positions than a gamer that plays Mario Cart or whatever.
@DJWESG1 well somone needs to fund that program again, there hasn't been a good cod game in decades
@@Humanaut.What do you think flying a Global Hawk or Reaper or Shadow is like? What sort of physical capabilities do you think those soldiers require?
Looking at FPV drones used in Ukraine, what sort of run time do they require? How much should their bench press be to operate that drone?
Our US army is now the smartest group of soldiers in history. Guys with controllers and computer skills are way more effective in modern combat than some dude with armor and an M4. Out thinking the enemy is much more useful than our shooting him. Resource utilization and supply lines win battles. Guy going Rambo is cool and all, but 3:1 with stable supply wins every time.
I called this 💩 back in 2015🙌🏽. As a former U.S Marine whose M.O.S. was 0341 and I spent 8 years serving in a weapons company either on the gun line with 81mm mortars or as a F.O. I knew the second I got the first DJI Mavic Pro to film my Vietnam vacation that this was the future of warfare. I wasn’t even so much thinking about placing munitions on them I was purely looking at it from a call for fire standpoint and how it would revolutionize how we planned out our fire missions.
huge reason the USMC is changing its entire layout. They got rid of all of their tanks and most of their towed gun systems. Replacing them with small agile vehicles, precision missiles and drones. USMC is moving to be fast light and have a long punch.
This Technology stack needs to be completely domestic as a matter of National Security.
No offshore chips or IP. Redundant supply chains as well.
yeah, please note ground effect vehicles on Ukraine no-road spaces. One man/100kg load/slick IC engines. There are mvoe
Yeah, he seems a little late. We'll load pallets of thousands of drones & robots into SpaceX Starships to deliver to the battlefield and let A.I. go wild. We might use women and children to guide 'em in from back home and use A.I. to promote winners. War's going to be too bad to do pretty soon.
Good effects!
I only watch these for the weather in Colorado.
Me too
Haha!!😅😅
LOL - agreed ;)
It was like 70 degrees on Saturday then we got dumped on with 7 inches of snow on Sunday.
It be like that here
And I only read playboy for the articles.
Perun has talked about this, and noted how anti-drone countermeasures evolve in tandem with the drones themselves. Then there's Anduril, who produces both primary attack drones and drone-hunting counter-drones. This is the true 5D chess, in which the explosives are real and the pieces move on their own.
Drones are the precursor to robotics. 50 to 100 AI-powered and linked very mobile and very fast small weapons platforms. Small profiles, dropped behind lines and resupplied with stealth drones. Inflict extremely rapid and massive damage to critical areas with zero concern for casualties. Each unit self-destructing
Autonomous drones already ARE robots. They simply don't have legs because they don't need them for the mission.
I suppose this still represents a reduction in combat casualties for a force that uses drones. I'd rather my drone be shot down than be killed in combat. This seems like a rare positive development for the future of warfare. The closer we get to actual chess instead of slaughter, the better. I'll take Drones v Infrastructure over trench warfare and fox holes any day.

Javelins have a theoretical range of about 10 km. if that technology was to converge with drones and forward operations then there is no reason why a launch vehicle or small team cannot act as a mobile launch base that forward teams can provide target acquisition to the launch teams that are far out of sight.

Peter is excited that the greatest threat to Russia is a man with a backpack hiking throgh the snow with his drone.
Perfect.
And there will possibly be another man with an explosive drone in a backpack hiking in every Americas State headed to any of thousands of soft targets. There's a certain wry humor in the Black Sea Fleet ships being unable to take out the Ukranian naval drones because their guns were designed to take out ships and so they couldn't deflect low enough to engage a remote-controlled SeaDoo packed with explosives. Kind of like how Bismarck had trouble shooting down the biplane torpedo bombers from the Ark Royal because they were so slow that the automated tracking on Bismarck's AA guns kept leading them too far.
Even more wry humor in the supposed worlds strongest navy unable to stop a third world militia from blockading the Red Sea.
I understand that part of the design spec of the Fairey Swordfish was 'low and slow' and 'stringbag', that is WW1 wood, wire and doped linen. It's very hard to shoot down these aircraft because there's so little to them. The prop and engine protects the crew, and the wings and fuselage can take plenty of shrapnel damage.
As for radar controlled gunnery, this post-dates the design, but this too sees few returns due to a lack of metal, and in part due to low flying.
US navy uses the 25 mm chain gun in a deck mount. I've fired this version. It has a laser sight, is very accurate and can shoot down.
@steven4315
And I would suspect that these were developed and deployed in response to the attack on the USS Cole.
The 'stringbag' was developed in the 20s/30s for British carrier ops, a different epoch, which is pretty much Peter's point.
The game has changed, twice, in recent years: ship killing missiles currently used to attack shipping in the Red Sea and now drone warfare.
It should be obvious that if the Ukrainians can attack precision targets to the rear, terrorists can also use/develop this capability.

@ 5:45 That is interesting that "Russia stopped training 'engineer's' ...over 30 years ago", though we cannot ignore a similar issue in the United States where the standard of the title of "engineer" has been lowered down to where, if you can turn on a light switch, you get the title (social promotion), but at least there is the exception of professional licensure (for Professional Engineers - PE's), yet...and I emphasize the YET!
I say YET because the US is on a diminishing (entropic) trend for the standard of "engineer" where now, even civilian PE licensure in the United States is being degraded (can just look at the result of regulatory depreciation in Texas, as their grid lost power for an extended period during a few winter storms in 2021 because they isolated and deregulated their grid, from the rest of the US. Another example of regulatory depreciation is the 737-MAX with incestuous payment by Boeing to FAA DER's, and another example is the Titan Submersible where they claimed to do "good engineering" but not a single licensed PE involved. Can name countless fatal results of "good engineering" where no actively licensed PE was involved. Not to say PE's don't make fatal mistakes, but the system does lower the body count, that is as long as the system is functioning and the standards for a PE are set high, based on robust knowledge of physics not politics, and so I can understand how a Phoenix Ghost, via USAF, is made for extreme accuracy, helping save civilian lives, by maintaining high standards).
In my state (AZ), the legislature is delaying renewal of our civilian technical board, of which sets a standard much higher than being able to turn on a light switch, but if they do not renew the board by July, this summer, there will no longer be any professional engineers regulated in Arizona.
The effects may not be immediate, but over time, if regulatory degradation (entropy) is allowed to continue, then the result will be Idiocracy, e.g. catastrophic grid failures like in Texas 2021, more electrocutions, fires, bridge collapses, failing sewer systems, etc. Unfortunately, most politicians (just like corporations, though slightly less short term) fail to see beyond their next term/quarter, instead of the 100+ year design life span of a bridge, etc., but sadly, the body count has to rise, which could take a few decades (as apparently, Russia is now learning from their 30 years of lowering standards) before the idiots get a clue (e.g. "Idiocracy" movie becoming a documentary, where crops are watered with Gatorade, only it seems Russia is the first to start experiencing Idiocracy).
To end on an optimistic note, Neil Armstrong called himself a "mere technician", he set the highest standard possible for a PE, one of genuine humility, knowing his life depended on professionalism (400K+ professional scientists, engineers, and technicians), a brutal lesson taught by Ed, Gus, and Roger.
We can only do great things successfully, if we set profoundly high standards, in the eyes of incredible humility.
PE's understand why safety factors matter and realize that life is a learning laboratory. Each new project is an opportunity to learn how things might fail and what needs to be done for human safety and project longevity.

Imagine a reusable ballistic missile system that can put 200 tons of small drones over a city. Each drone only carries a couple of pounds of explosives. The AI on each drone knows the city and has specific infrastructure targets, like transformers, etc. and 30-40,000 infrastructure targets in the city are hit near simultaneously. Or create a swarm pod drone system for the B-52 and drop 7,000 drones per sortie on target.
The future is going to be interesting.
What future.
There's a cautionary short film on youtube called "Slaughterbots", and no, the genie is not going to be put back into the bottle.
Now you just scared me sh*tl+ss.
You do realize that 200 tons is absolutely absurd. Like, Saturn 5/ SpaceX Starship sized, and would look like a nuclear ICBM, which would prompt a nuclear response. And a 80k pound Minuteman III can deliver 8 nukes, versus a Saturn 5 at 6.5 million pounds (Or Starship at 11 million) to deliver your drones.
If you want to non-lethally attack infrastructure, Tomahawk missiles can be remotely guided to targets and have a warhead option designed to destructively short out power substations.
I like that phrasing non-lethally attack infrastructure. What a weird way to talk about war.

Russia's oil fields, transport and refining has always been in operation without the option to shut things down. Peter is correct: they can't shut parts of the system down to repair etc like we can in the US. If they have to shut a well in then it probably will never come back online. The whole system is comprised of Western made equipment and tech, which they don't have the ability to replace or manufacture. Essentially, the petroleum industry in Russia is the main provider of income for the war machine, but is also one of Russia's greatest Achilles heels (they have quite a few). Armies run on diesel in the modern era- not their soldier's bellies

To be fair though, The Black Sea is a pond, it’s therefore unlikely that drones due to range, will be effective in a real ocean such as The Pacific.
True but false . They could be dropped near the enemy in the Pacific by Helicopters .
Also, the drones are directed by US air assets. If the Russians were allowed to target them the drones would have to rely entirely on their own autonomous AI.
That really depends on how big they are. Long range large size submarine drones are being worked on. Could be interesting.

Peter, telling the world a ship can't hit something below level is total BS. Stay in your lane. No naval officer (I'm one of them) will believe you when you speak nonsense like that. True, missiles won't hit something next to you, but the main gun on most ships will depress below level and for stuff that's closer in, there are CIWS which stands for, get this, CLOSE IN Weapon System. It's a radar controlled gatling gun that can hit fast moving air or surface targets relatively close to the ship. And when it comes to small boat attacks which are essentially like Ukraine's drones that have sunk several ships, modern warships carry machine guns that are moving from human controlled (.50 cal usually) in older ships to more modern optically remote or autonomously controlled in newer ships. The human controlled ones have trouble keeping up with many small boats but the Russians don't have modern ones so they're stuck using people to aim in the dark. Highly ineffective. Modern systems can handle them much better but still not perfectly. I've heard you say that ships guns can't depress in several videos now. Total nonsense.
You are right that warfare is revolutionizing on the Ukrainian battlefield and any nation that doesn't pay attention to what's going on will be left behind.
