Truly, Donna's voice was not as appreciated as it absolutely should have been. I have been a constant fan of her talent since I was only 11 years old and I never, ever felt that her voice was anything but one of our national treasures. Donna left us much too soon. She and her beautiful voice are so, so missed. Rest in peace, dear Donna.

Thanks for the nice and heartfelt comments on this post. I had the great fortune to work with Donna on several occcations following this TV broadcast. We did concerts in Monaco, France and Portugal among others. She was such a powerful, musical force with a voice to support it all and convey it to the audience and to us musicians. She is sorely missed.

I heard her live singing this song at Carnage Hall. I had the goose bumps the entire song. She was truly the greatest. RIP Donna.
Minute 3.40 and that hight ,long note at the end, worth every kuddos ! And yes , her aproach was different. But thats what i love it . A show of power and control in an effortless way like no other ! And what gracious stage presence Donna Summer alway shows on her live performances ! No autotune, no vocal R&B style acrobatics. Only her inmence , sustained and controled vibratto, transmit all the emotion of the lirics . Well thats my personal preferences anyway. Peace.
