Late seeing this!! I raised some rhubarb in NC for awhile and it's definitely an early Spring fruit. It's too hot for good rhubarb now. Our "hearing aid" story! Hubby kept saying I mumbled, yes, this went on awhile. Finally, he went and got tested, got hearing aids, and amazingly I stopped mumbling LOL. We've been married 57 happy years!! That pudding cake looks wonderful - definitely in line for a near future dessert, after my blueberry cobbler. I've made chocolate pudding cakes, but a little different.
That looks so good... You were talking about your kids getting along so well. It's a blessing because so many families don't even communicate.. But it also has to do with the raising they had and having the Lord in their life...God bless you both..❤
Awww just watched Otom video just before. Didnt realise Luke, Jill and kids were going to Kenya! I'm certain video are coming out so much after real time but thats brilliant 😊 I get you don't fancy the journey but it must be great being to watch what they put out on you tube 😊 ...anyway, going to carry on watching the selective hearing food vlog 😉. Lots of love x
I really enjoy watching your videos. It makes me laugh. I’ve actually tried a couple of your recipes. They were delicious .I also really enjoy Sarah and Luke’s TH-cam channel as well. I’m sure you’re proud yall have raised good people if you don’t mind can you share some stories like when you worked and you traveled you know just something interesting or the food or just whatever and tell your wife I said hello she’s beautiful have a great day and God bless..
Always a good time with you two! I’ve not had this with nuts added, will try that the next time. I have this recipe in one of my Martha Stewart cookbooks. Haven’t made it in a long time…
Yes it's still true after all these years, our parents have been deceased for years now but our dad had it bad, papa has joined the many other's out there, used to wonder if the shoe was on the other foot would our mom have it,but it was just a guy thing it seems, God bless you both, love you'll together and enjoy watching you both and you'lls family. Have a blessed weekend and rest of 2024&Beyond, safe, happy healthy blessed summer ahead. 😊❤😊
My favorite part: Jerry "It's almost like a dump cake. What's that called?" Susan replies "A dump cake." You two are hilarious🤣😂 This recipe is a keeper!!!
Funny thing, when you talked about The Pastor not wearing socks I had to laugh because one Sunday my Pastor was doing his sermon and he made the statement that It Knocked His Socks Off and he threw his shoe off and had no socks on. We cracked up. Looks like another yummy recipe. ❤❤
I was chuckling most of the time through this video. In a couple of weeks hubby and I will celebrate 55 years of marriage, and I remember this was a popular end of the 60s early 70s recipe--Chocolate Pudding Cake. I believe I got it from Betty Crocker. Later, with some of our kids and our first microwave oven, they decided to experiment making it in that. It kind of exploded all over and they renamed it Frankenstein Monster Cake!! When I was married 25 years I made a family cookbook for them, with recipes and stories. This is still one of their favorite recipes! I don't think it's Dutch at all.
😂😂😂...YES, Papa has selective hearing as well as forgetfulness because he has used the sifter in past video(s)❣️ 💁🏻♀️WSH is the source of knock down drag out fights in my household...it's NOT occasionally, it's literally CONSTANTLY!!!🙄
I dislike wearing shoes too Jerry. Sock, so so. Slippers in the winter. But as soon as I get home off come the shoes. WSH it is a real thing. I tell my husband to listen to me with all 4 ears= his eyes & his ears then he hears what I am saying & comprehend. Dessert looks sinfully good. 👍 Blessings & hugs to both of you! 💞
❤ looks amazing. I will be making it. I try all your recipes and they all come out perfect my husband has selective hearing.❤ love you both. God bless and thank you for all the sharing.
Love this video! I love that you kept your mistake in. Helps us all feel better about our own mishaps in the kitchen lol 8 a loaf is cheap. I charge $15 😂 !! Sourdough is a lot of work and tending to.
The pastor isn't setting a trend. When I watched the Oscar's, men had on tuxes with no socks. Not my flavor. The dish looks delicious 😋. I need to try this one.
We made that dessert all the time in the late 60s-early 70s. I remember that it wasn’t overly sweet tasting like you said. I will have to find my mom’s recipe to see what it has for the fat component but I’m thinking Crisco. We didn’t put nuts in it but the pecans sound really good.
I grew up with this. My mom made it. I also fed it to my kids as they grew up. It's my oldest daughters favorite birthday cake. 🎉❤ We always served it with ice cream. Family favorite!
When it calls for sifted flour, you sift first, then measure it out. Sifting lightens the weight of the flour. Usually in baking I like to go by weight not by measurement.
I no longer use the crank sifter I use the strainer because one time I went to use it and I guess when I washed it some flower stayed stuck in there and when I went to use it the next time a bunch of black things sifted out😂😂😂
Hi Gerry and Sue! This is the first time I have ever made a comment on your channel! I just wanted to ask you if you could consider posting the actual recipe under the video? I used to make this many years ago in the 80s from a recipe I had gotten from a magazine called Harrowsmith Countrylife! Thank you!
Almost 40 years and my husband never remembers things I tell him and then tells me he’s told me that I hadn’t heard! As little as we speak to each other, I’d certainly remember anything he’s said to me😆
My feet are always cold, so cold they hurt at times. I need socks on but no shoes. And, my socks are off in bed. They are too confining when I sleep. My mother is 88 years old, never wears shoes or socks at home.
I didn’t know that wearing shoes inside your house was a thing in the United States. When I watch TV shows growing up, everybody wore shoes and I just assumed it was because it was part of their outfit. I would have an absolute heart attack if anybody walked into my house with their shoes on.. lol I am from Beautiful British Columbia
I'm Dutch and this is a favourite recipe from my childhood. Google Caramel Apple Pudding Cake and Lemon Pudding Cake as well.
Late seeing this!! I raised some rhubarb in NC for awhile and it's definitely an early Spring fruit. It's too hot for good rhubarb now.

You inspired me to try this recipe but I used butter and didn’t sift the flour. It still turned out perfectly. My husband loved it ❤Tyty
I’m with you. First thing I do when I get home… off with the shoes

U 2 together are a great pair and funny
I made your dessert, it is delicious. Thank you for the recipe
Jerry makes me laugh. You are an adorable couple
I'm with you, off with the shoes as soon as we get in the door.
😂😂😂...YES, Papa has selective hearing as well as forgetfulness because he has used the sifter in past video(s)❣️
💁🏻♀️WSH is the source of knock down drag out fights in my household...it's NOT occasionally, it's literally CONSTANTLY!!!🙄
Oh yes! My hubby has selective hearing as well!🤣🤣
😁
Isn't it magic how that works! So delicious, I will have to make this one. Thanks ❤️
That your children and grandchildren love and care so deeply for each other is a testimony to what wonderful parents/people you are🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️

U two have the best time together!
Hi Jerry & Susan it’s the Memorial Day weekend 5-25-2024❤., You guys are Funny, Jerry knows how it is👍🏽👍🏽
I too hate shoes, spent most of childhood and into 20s barefoot. So I hear you!
Oh I realised it doesn't have eggs! Looks like this might replace choco lava cake. 😍
Melk is the Afrikaans word for milk - here in South Africa.
❤ looks amazing. I will be making it. I try all your recipes and they all come out perfect my husband has selective hearing.❤ love you both. God bless and thank you for all the sharing.
Wonderful!
Thanks for a wonderful video. The Hot Fudge looks yummy!
Love this video! I love that you kept your mistake in. Helps us all feel better about our own mishaps in the kitchen lol
8 a loaf is cheap. I charge $15 😂 !! Sourdough is a lot of work and tending to.
So true!
Yes it runs in our family men.
Yes prefer sandals or flip flops
I hate socks and shoes too
Spending time with family is always presious .😊
You guys watch hockey at all ❤
I’ve heard that all my life one ear out the other 😂😂😂
The pastor isn't setting a trend. When I watched the Oscar's, men had on tuxes with no socks. Not my flavor. The dish looks delicious 😋. I need to try this one.
That's what we call a self saucing pudding in Australia!!
Just going to say the same..my kids made them every Sunday for dessert at tea time
Every husband has it for sure! That looks absolutely delicious! I need to try that.
That’s the best part. My two get along well also.
Just put one of those pudding cake in oven. Had recipe in my Betty Crocker 1970 cookbook when I got married. Looking forward to eating it tonight
Looks delicious
No shoes unless I’m going somewhere. And then mostly flip flops. 😂
Self saucing pudding here in Australia 🇦🇺 😊
Oh wow!
Sounds yummy! Where do we find the recipe?
Love you guys❤
Awesome recipes
selective hearing happens here, & at my parents house as well. lol!! i love being barefoot but my back sometimes doesn't like it so much. ( ;
Hello in France we say it goes in one ear and comes out of the other which I suppose means not heard I really enjoy your videos 🤗🤗🤗
We made that dessert all the time in the late 60s-early 70s. I remember that it wasn’t overly sweet tasting like you said. I will have to find my mom’s recipe to see what it has for the fat component but I’m thinking Crisco. We didn’t put nuts in it but the pecans sound really good.
I make something like this. It’s called a chocolate cobbler and it is delicious. Everyone loves it.
Miss you guys God bless and be with you both 🙏🏻✝️☮️🥰🥰🫂🫂🌹💐🌺🍀💝💐💜💗💙❤️🍀💝
Enjoyed the video 😊
😊
I don't like shoes either
I hate socks, bare feet in the house. There also is selective hearing in my house.
I hate shoes also
In summer months in Canada enjoy barefoot when home
What about using a Danish dough hook for the batter?
I should have done so!!!! I forgot I had it :)
I thought that I remembered you using one before😃
Looks good God Bless.Im with Jerry don't like shoes
I am in Australia and I also dislike shoes. I live in thongs ( flip flops ) even in the Winter. I feel constricted in shoes
I agree with Susan, the getting to the adventures when they take that long. Woe, I just don't know that I could do it either.
I might have to double or triple the recipe for our family of 12...I'm definitely making it.
Yes 😊
Papa I do not like shoes either. I walk around barefoot when I’m at home.
Quick question though... How do you make a sour dough starter?
Oh that's a whole world of education. I bought a starter kit from The Sourdough Lady. Check her out
😋
I love being barefoot! Have to wear socks and boots at work😢
I wondered about using sifted flour and not measuring it after it is sifted. Basic Home Ec 101! LOL!
Yes…I went to “shop” 😂
I have some hearing problems and I heard “ I’m here with the papa and the banana “ 😂sorry . I did think it was funny.
LOL!
Maybe Nana and the banana would work better 😂
It’s true
And my dad always said it was so sweet it made your teeth curl 🦷 😂
We call this chocolate pudding cake, a favorite since growing up in the Yukon. A quick and easy dessert for unexpected company.
So good!
I grew up with this. My mom made it. I also fed it to my kids as they grew up. It's my oldest daughters favorite birthday cake. 🎉❤ We always served it with ice cream. Family favorite!
It's so good!

You're right!!!
I no longer use the crank sifter I use the strainer because one time I went to use it and I guess when I washed it some flower stayed stuck in there and when I went to use it the next time a bunch of black things sifted out😂😂😂
If you use your beautiful wife’s sifter, you can put all of the dry ingredients in it and it will blend the dry ingredients beautifully!!

I do on occasion but will try to do so more often
Hello 👋 Papa & Nana ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Almost 40 years and my husband never remembers things I tell him and then tells me he’s told me that I hadn’t heard!
As little as we speak to each other, I’d certainly remember anything he’s said to me😆
I never wear shoes in the house. Socks only when it’s below freezing 🥶 my apartment stays a bit chilly
Yum!!
My feet are always cold, so cold they hurt at times. I need socks on but no shoes. And, my socks are off in bed. They are too confining when I sleep. My mother is 88 years old, never wears shoes or socks at home.
Papa I thought you were watching your weight 😮
I didn’t know that wearing shoes inside your house was a thing in the United States. When I watch TV shows growing up, everybody wore shoes and I just assumed it was because it was part of their outfit. I would have an absolute heart attack if anybody walked into my house with their shoes on.. lol I am from Beautiful British Columbia
❤Always selective hearing! Plus now, there is real damage and hearing aids that he turns off! 😅
🤣🤣
My first niece said nilk for milk I still bring that up to her so cute
1/2 of michigan people say ,melk, No rhyme or reason , randomness
Hello, please don’t move the camera so much. Just leave it showing when papa is mixing and fixing the good. We love you
Noted
Is Judah married I thought you said his wife🎉🎉🎉😊
Ha….i never mentioned Judah….was talking about Susan’s brother and also my brother’s wife.
at 15:15 you said "Judah, dominic is his friend, his wife does bread once a week".
