    Dude you always do incredible video explaining of Shimano reels etc. this one is no exception. Except, I own Bantams w 6 brakes @ 150 size spool, my metaniums are 100 size w 4 brakes. Got no issues casting but I’m wanting to understand why Bantams are made w 6 vs 4. I use both equally and use GLX & IMX rods. All new this year and I’m not saying how many spinning reels I own ,all Shimano . I’m saying this because I totally believe Shimano is the world leader and that’s the truth. I’d appreciate the info on the 6 vs 4 though, I know engineering did it for a reason. Thank you, always great knowledge and a stellar presentation.

      Typically MGL reels have 6 pads MGL Spool 3 reels have 4 pads from what I have noticed. I imagine that has a lot to due with reducing the overall spool weight for better low start up capabilities. The less pads, the lighter the spool, the lower the start up inertia.

    That helped me a lot! D need a DC for my first baitcaster and I knew this, but this got me closer to buying one. Great info on the settings too and the differences between the DC models…next is what hand to buy! Ha

    Hey JP, you have the best gear review video out there. Thanks for doing this for the community. I’m a long time bass fisherman but new to Shimano and so far I like it. Could you give an outline of what is different between the Curado line of Rods and the Zodias. I have one of each and so far I am like them both.

      Biggest differences would be the Monocoque handle on the zodias over the EVA foam Handle on the Curado rods and the guide train... I believe Zodias is Fuji Alconite and Curado is Fuji with Fazlite riings... I love both so I feel you can't go wrong either way. For some, they prefer the red of the Zodias but I'm not muhc of a matchy matchy guy..lol

    How come Shimano sometimes describes VBS as SVS and vice versa? For instance, Caius has ”SVS” and SLX has VBS? But they are both identical? Br PK

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors
      @JPDeRoseOutdoors  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a Global marketing decision. North America has always referred to it as VBS. More recently, SEA decided to switch to SVS but North America still has reels on the market with VBS badging so they thought it would be confusing to the consumer

    Kinda an unrelated question - do you expect the tranx to get the Curado M treatment? I’d love to get a 150 and 300 sized sealed reel that can cast lighter baits w/ the MGL spool and other upgrades.

      Haven’t seen anything yet but I would imagine Tranx would be on the list for upgrades soon! Not sure if MGL Spool 3 is part of the plans or not

    The new Met dc is the greatest baitcasters ever made. From a durability, performance, and longevity standpoint it’s more than worth dishing out the extra $$

    Also, is the SLX XT a good all purpose reel? I want to get a baitcaster for Christmas and I want a reel that could do topwater, jigs rig, etc. Also is a fluorocarbon main line good for topwater/

    I am doing a series where I ask people for a lure recommendation and try to catch a fish on that lure. What lure would you recommend? It has to be under 15 dollars though.
