You guys are lucky, when I was there in 2008 they didn’t have any context or any markers. The signs just used to say “Hindu God”. All of the small metal statues are the statues that were taking from temples as loot or stolen secretly. Those are the statues that the main rituals would be performed on. In large temples they may be gold or silver and in smaller temples they would be made of panch loha.
Feels proud to see our heritage but what makes me sad is ki these things are not at their actual places, the places they actually belong to😢 something should be done to bring back these things to India 😢

Haha, you're slightly wrong. British museum is making money out of displayed artefacts. Imagine making someone's stolen respectable artefacts being displayed for prverse hedonism of money. There are a number of rare Indian artefacts in the British Museum, which if they weren't preserved they would have been lost through global flea markets. However, what is even more interesting is King Sahajan's Peacock Throne, whose value, as per sources, is greater than Taj Mahal, is now in Iran. It is said that the throne is combined with the Persian Naderi Peacock Throne. It's now kept in the national treasury of the Central Bank of Iran. Why do none of us demand such national asset to be brought back? Why don't politicians make a hue and cry about it? Why do we single out the British?
Preserve is just a tactic word thrown by britain's imperialist agenda that countries couldn't save their cultural artefacts. Main aim of british museum is that they're milking money of the things being displayed. Shareholders are owning it and contributing it to economy. Someone's precious and respectable heritage is for someone's prverse display of money. The agenda for britain presence in India was always about the economy greed and geopolitics motivated by racial eugenics. If a country can't maintain their artefacts, then it's their problem. Britain have no responsibility in taking someone other's home stuff. It is straight up stealing and making money rather than the agenda word "preservation".
Once few years back there was a speech/ lecture in Pune about Ornaments of Peshwa family. It was a huge number hundreds of Ornaments. Only description is available now. All the Ornaments are missing, surely all those must be there somewhere in Britain.
To call it a 'Museum' would be wrong, it's basically a warehouse with looted items. Mumbai-Delhi's chor bazaars are nothing before this place. It's undoubtedly the biggest Chor Bazaar in the world, except no one can take things from here.
Reality is they would anyhow be neglected in India considering the current state of temples and historical sites. Atleast they preserved it in museums.
I feel bad that those are stolen but on the other hand they make me proud that london is one of the most visited cities and peopel love london museums soo this makes me proud that london is actually showing indian history and millions of foreigners can see indian history,as not everyone likes to visit india because of bad condition and hygiene, they already had wasted all the money stonel from india on world wars only thing that can make them run the country are these...so i m also happy that peoe get to know indian history in a different country...and as we all know in bihar we have a beautiful temple but none is even trying to save that temples from decaying and rotting there are huge trees growing on temple but noone cares atleast they are keeping them safe...
But London should have no moral obligation to India. Why should they keep artefacts and display in their museum?? Why not India?? Preservation is just a tactic word being used. The main aim of displaying these about milking money and contributing to britain's economy. Imagine someone making money out of your stolen goods?! How would you feel? Let's say if India fails to maintain these artefacts then it'll be their responsibility to get blamed for losses of cultural heritage. Each country must be held responsible to preserve its cultural site and if they fail, it is their loss, they need to be hold accountable and no one else. Britain stands no moral ground to have these things in their country regardless of whatever argument. Period.

I am very happy British people have taken care of our artefacts and preserved it and displayed it to the world. Had they not come to India we wouldn't have a clue about them. The heading of this clip is very wrong and of low mentality. If British had sold to third party and got money in return...then it'd have been appropriate to call 'looting'. There are still so many temples in ruins in present India and no body talks about them and forget about preserving them.
All the Commonwealth countries or Former British Colonies should jointly Go to The International Court of Justice and File a Case so that All These Looted Artifacts are returned by to their Place of Origin

Please remember the text below: Do not use the word "looted." It was not looted but stolen. They were stolen through local rulers. It is impossible to loot, as people would know right away. But they used to tell the local ruler that they needed something from the temple, and our supporters would work with the priest or kill anyone who objected to delivering what "Saheb" wanted. In return, they would receive a better position from the Saheb until the new Saheb came. I have heard that they used to kill and throw the person in the well.
