Omg Bluebeard was my favourite fairytale when I was in kindergarten ( I was a wierd (?) kid) but no one besides me knew it. Sorry for my probably bad English, English isn't my first language.
Bluebeard has a pretty good message in it. The dude is pretty much an asshole, but also to warn kids to not put their eyes where they shouldn't when they warned of the danger of it. And there is a happy ending in it. Not that much brutal. The story is also inspire and a critic of Henri I or II ? Cuz he used to publicly put to death his wifes when he assumed that they were cheating on him. And when I think about it, maybe it was a warn for the women who wanted to become the King's wife, since there was a bunch of women falling for his seductions and charisma, narcissic pervert I guess. Sorry, my comment become an analysis.
I think I remember Maleficent mentioning something around the lines of "after 100 years I shall let you go, you shall be old but the love of your life Sleeping Beauty will still be as beautiful as the day she fell into slumber." It was something like that. (It was after she kidnapped Phillip)

Not really, especially since the deadly sleep takes place much later than the other versions. Arguably, it more closely resembles "Beauty and the Beast" With the wicked stepmother trope thrown in for funs because, in Greek Mythology, Eros is thought to be a monster for his power over peoples' hearts.
One thing I don't understand in Sleeping Beauty is why she had to be awake by true love's kiss and the guy didn't even get to know her he just kissed her and it's all of a sudden true love because of her looks
I honestly love these tales, they are the kind of tales I actually grew up with, I wasn’t introduced to Disney’s versions until my tweens , I heard of them obviously but the tales that I was told as a child were more creepy than fantastic, together with some urban legends, I like it that way
I have a kids book of fairytales...the Grimm versions. And from somewhere I remember the last version from my childhood. I either heard of it or read it myself..I don't know
The version I grew up with wasn't even the Disney film. It was basically the Grimm version as told by word-of-mouth. It barely qualified as a story as far as I was concerned. It was more like an anecdote. When I finally saw the Disney film, I thought it was pretty thin, too. The Perrault version, regardless of its weirdness, is at least a story, with... you know, characters and a plot.
Ok, i loved this story and agree with the morals you tell, however i am going to give you a medieval life and history lesson. In medieval times, there was a ranking system for everyone, Food and land was hard to come by, so in order to keep the peace in kingdoms and prevent mass hysteria, ranking systems were made. The higher your rank, the more you food and land you were able to own. The royalty, especially kings and queens sat at the top. They were given the freshest and most delicious food, while as you go lower down the chain, you get less and less of a choice in what you eat, or where you live. This did not just apply to food and land, this also applied to clothing, weapons, jewelry, ways of travel as well as, say it with me "Mates". If you were royal, you were given the right to someones life back then, this was not just something the wealthy made up, but everyone made up. If you were rich enough, you could buy slaves, Entire portions of the continents land, as well as peoples lives. This was because Everyone was looking to survive back then. Back in medieval times, buying and selling slaves came with being a noble, or royalty. this also means, that you could basicly do whatever you want back then, and nobody would go against you if you were royal. That is why, the king was able to have kids with a stranger or even a corpse back then, for laws were extremely different back then. nobles and royalty were usually the ones doing the countries trades with other countries. In the end i am simply saying that back then mating with a corpse was not illegal, yes immoral but if nobody saw you doing it, then you would not be jailed, especially if you were royalty. Sorry for the long post, however i figured this brief history lesson might be interesting for the videos topic.

Your channel is very nostalgic for me. When I was little I used to have two CD's with these older version of fairy tales on them, (Not sure what happened to them). I had forgotten about these older version until I found your channel. I believe most of them were a cross between the Grim and Perrault versions, with some having elements from Basile. Not quite sure - it was a long time ago.
Dang the last one was a bit messed up I've always been appreciative of the Brothers Grim tales I think I like the Perrault version best though tbh I think another moral can be derived from these stories *DON'T LIE TO PARENTS/SPOUSES*
I grew up on the last one, and didn’t see a problem with it until later on in life - it was just what was in our fairy tale book - and now I wanna throw up
whenever people talk about the darker version of sleeping beauty, they always just talk about Talia sun and moon. But I like that you mentioned that in little briar rose, all the princes that wanted to take a peak at Sleeping Beauty before the 100 years were up all got strangled by the bramble bushes and died slow and miserable deaths.
I love your Disney/movie videos! Your animation and speech are amazing too. Your animation style fits so well and is very unique. The speech in your videos are easy to follow and are not too babyish and there’s a slight sense of humour hidden in your words. I love it! Subscribing
I just adore the way you put a lot of time and effort into your animations! I love the charcoal sketch effect that gives it more of a macabre storybook appeal.
Nilanjan Das Technically, in Disney defense. All Snow White did was ride off to the castle with the prince. there was no marriage indicated. -Cinderella could had her wedding at any time after meeting the prince a second time. -Briar Rose / Aurora was in an arranged marriage, for political reasons -Ariel hang out with Eric for three days and her wedding could have been any time after defeating Ursula. -Jasmine and Aladdin just kiss at the end of the movie, no wedding scene and didn’t get married until the third movie. Belle and the Beast get to know each for who know how long and have an celebration party after he and the staffs turn back into humans again. -Mulan and Shane get along at the camp and befriend when Mulan disguise herself as an man. -Pocahontas secretly befriend with John Smiths not believing that white people are savage as her father, the Chief, thoughts they are and get to know him for who know how long -Tiana and Naveen were an frogs for half of the entire movie and get to know each other and slowly having crush to each other and their wedding could have been any time after defeating the Shadow Man. - Flynn Rider did try to propose to Rapunzel many, many times. Plus, they get to know each other on their way to Corona Kingdom to see the lanterns on Rapunzel birthday. Plus, their wedding could happen at any time after she reunited with her parents and came back home.
I heard a story of “the sleeping beauty” that blah blah blah everything in Disney happened, BUT the villain (Maleficent) has to dance in iron heels and let her feet burn until she dies (since Maleficent’s weakness is iron/metal).

Omg Bluebeard was my favourite fairytale when I was in kindergarten ( I was a wierd (?) kid) but no one besides me knew it. Sorry for my probably bad English, English isn't my first language.
Bluebeard was one of my faves :3
Omg I used to love the story Bluebeard... Even though it was messed up
Bluebeard has a pretty good message in it.
The exact quote was, "The years roll by. But a hundred years to a steadfast heart are but a day."
Yep!

Hi I love your videos you are an amazing TH-cam I have seen all of your videos and commented on every video. Omg thank you I love you and I have never had this much likes
Awe
Have you ever heard of “Frankenstein’s Army”? It’s a low-budget World War II horror movie, but I personally think it deserves more reviews.
I love that movie, some of the "creations" were siiiiick lol
I saw this film on chiller
Yo, frank, your character looks a bit coraline-ish. Also where can I get the coraline book?
Your local bookstore *support local businesses*
Your pfp and url are everything 😂
Amazon / Coraline-Neil-Gaiman / dp / 0380807343
The link is setup like this as TH-cam hides the comment from anyone other than the commenter if it has a link in it.
@@Ghost-nl7wd Maybe it's just my account. It could be because I am using a brand account.
I really really appreciate how straight forward and persistent you were about how wrong the King's actions were💖 Thanks girl
Eros and Psyche is the first telling (12000 B.C. I think)
"cozy up to a cat" huh???
how about 8 minecraft dogs?????
Ur Mom. *mommy when did you start playing Minecraft AND NEVER TOLD ME?!?! I thought video games made you feel car sick 🥺*
funny you should mention my cat just sat on my face
Aw yeah
Once upon a time, there was a TH-camr who unintentionally teamed with Matpat to ruin all Disney movies for me ever. And I love it. The end.
Best story of all time 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I remember reading Sun, Moon, and Talia. I never looked at Sleeping Beauty the same way again.
One thing I don't understand in Sleeping Beauty is why she had to be awake by true love's kiss and the guy didn't even get to know her he just kissed her and it's all of a sudden true love because of her looks
Basile:Sleeping Beauty
Perrault:Hippity Hoppity This is now my Property

I love your vids! : D The Style is Creepy and I love it!
WOAHH I GOT A BUNCH OF LIKES THANKS!

I honestly love these tales, they are the kind of tales I actually grew up with, I wasn’t introduced to Disney’s versions until my tweens , I heard of them obviously but the tales that I was told as a child were more creepy than fantastic, together with some urban legends, I like it that way
love that just before 10:00 she kind of mentioned the theme song of a series of unfortunate events (which is on netflix)
Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney Movie ever so i am very happy you made a video about it
I have a kids book of fairytales...the Grimm versions. And from somewhere I remember the last version from my childhood. I either heard of it or read it myself..I don't know
Others: I was about to sleep when I saw this!
Me: I can't sleep so im watching this.
She wasn't saying that it was unlawful or anything. She was just stating that she was appalled by the story when hearing it in this day and time.
Is that a 'Series of unfortunate events' reference or am I just freaking out about a sentence you said?
WAIT WHERE?! OMG I LOVE ASOUE
9:50 I caught it as soon as she started with "Look away" 😁
i remember my brother telling me the actual Grimm Brother's stories when i was 10 😅 i can never look at them the same way

A prince technically fell in love with someone who was 115 years old..?
Why does this sound like a marvel story?
Oh god it does sound like a marvel story and I don't know why 😱😨😰
I just love your video, your voice is so nice and the art style is amazing
Me: looking at the picture and the title
Also Me: That's Cinderella
I just realized, that while everyone was reading and listening to cute romantic fairytales, I was listening to those old creepy tales.
I did listen to these 3, when I was 4 and I actually never really got creeped out
(Took me a few minutes to realise that)
Your channel is very nostalgic for me. When I was little I used to have two CD's with these older version of fairy tales on them, (Not sure what happened to them). I had forgotten about these older version until I found your channel. I believe most of them were a cross between the Grim and Perrault versions, with some having elements from Basile. Not quite sure - it was a long time ago.
you're voice is so soothing, even though the video itself is pretty horrifying lol
Oh my god I love you so much. You are my favorite TH-camr!💗💗💗

Plot twist
My friend told me the original stories of sleeping beauty. She told me that aurora got raped by Philip '-'.
Dang the last one was a bit messed up
I've always been appreciative of the Brothers Grim tales
I think I like the Perrault version best though tbh
I think another moral can be derived from these stories
*DON'T LIE TO PARENTS/SPOUSES*
I grew up on the last one, and didn’t see a problem with it until later on in life - it was just what was in our fairy tale book - and now I wanna throw up
its 2:20am and im LIVING for this
whenever people talk about the darker version of sleeping beauty, they always just talk about Talia sun and moon. But I like that you mentioned that in little briar rose, all the princes that wanted to take a peak at Sleeping Beauty before the 100 years were up all got strangled by the bramble bushes and died slow and miserable deaths.
“So grab some hot tea and a snuggly cat” is probably my favorite thing ever.
You and MatPat are pretty different TH-camrs, but you have two things in common
1: you make great videos
2: You both ruin my childhood 👍

Moral of Charles Perrault's sleeping beauty: "girls shouldn't rush into marriage"
Guess Disney never realised that....
Nilanjan Das Technically, in Disney defense.
All Snow White did was ride off to the castle with the prince. there was no marriage indicated.
-Cinderella could had her wedding at any time after meeting the prince a second time.
-Briar Rose / Aurora was in an arranged marriage, for political reasons
-Ariel hang out with Eric for three days and her wedding could have been any time after defeating Ursula.
-Pocahontas secretly befriend with John Smiths not believing that white people are savage as her father, the Chief, thoughts they are and get to know him for who know how long
-Tiana and Naveen were an frogs for half of the entire movie and get to know each other and slowly having crush to each other and their wedding could have been any time after defeating the Shadow Man.
Gachaworld M Actually I’m pretty sure that’s Snow White.
@@StarDreamsStudios No that's Cinderella.
ᴋᴇʟʟʏ ʟɪɴᴅʏ That’s Snow White
It's from Snow White. The iron shoes the queen was forced to wear were heated until they were red.
Your style is so original
I feel like in Perrault’s tale they were running out of ideas but they still had a bunch of pages left so they made the mom an ogre and went from there
These theories and stuff is so so good! I want to see more!
Can you do one maybe about Peter Pan?
