Peru didnt make it by one red card. was tied in points to chile. best qualifiers we had in years! broke my heart dads Italian and he came back from Italy with a Roberto Baggio jersey for me it was amazing! but watching this amazing world cup secured my absolute Love to Football !!so enjoyable to watch Ronaldo Lima! and the Danish were great and dont even get me started on Suker and Croatia. simply amazing world cup.
For me, football has peaked at this moment. Every team had star players and they really influenced how the team played. Football was less calculated, so it’s less about getting players running to overload but more about getting the ball to star players. As a result, the players were more talented than physical. So many emotions and mistakes were involved in each game. No tactical fouls. Fewer dives. And last but not least, explosive moments.
LOL there were plenty of professional/tactical fouls. I was watching some games from this era recently and some tackles that would be red today were just free kicks only back then, not even yellow. Was much more physical then, seems like every time a player goes down today it's a free-kick.

Platini admitted that he pressured the organizers to change the group draws purposely so that France and Brazil wouldnt be able to face each other until the Final. The “dream Final” he called it. Basically it the final match up that he thought everyone at the time had most hoped for. Russia was the only seed in the 2018 WC who knew their spot in the draw, so there really wasnt much controversy there. Like I said, if you dont believe me, look it up.

The first World Cup I remember watching was Mexico 86 (barely, just the Maradona goals), then Italy 90 (what a bore), and of course USA 94 (I had a summer job that summer so I had to listen the games over radio). France 98 is special because of the players. This was the time when European football was starting to get big in the States. What an amazing time that was.

russia in 2018 was in part 2 of the table with spain and england while in part 1 you had france, belgium, argentina, brazil and portugal
@@genzalarboa3110 Have you noticed how France was placed in group C instead of group A? Host nations are normally placed in group A because they arent placed within the selection pods. Platini admitted that he pressured the organizers to change the group draws purposely so that France and Brazil wouldnt be able to face each other until the Final. The “dream Final” he called it. Basically it the final match up that he thought everyone at the time had most hoped for. Russia was the only seed in the 2018 WC who knew their spot in the draw, so there really wasnt much controversy there. Like I said, if you dont believe me, look it up.
@@genzalarboa3110 And no, they choose half the table. Besides the host/hosts, the remaining teams are placed in to draw pots based on their rankings, and the draw is done from there. As well, nations from certain confederations cannot be placed into the same group, as a result are placed into the next group.

in 2006 in germany, against whom did germany dream of winning? against brazil who had beaten them in the final of the 2002 world cup and by chance the two teams were in different tables
in 1990 in italy, the reigning world champion is argentina who is placed in a fairly easy group (cameroon, romania, ussr) which normally should have sent her team to the part of the table where italy was not but as they just qualified as best 3rd they ended up in the italy draw
whenever a country could potentially win the world cup, the reigning world champion and/or their biggest rival are always in the other table, so you can believe it's coincidence or admit it's chance is sometimes directed
@@genzalarboa3110 Lmao stop trying to sound smart. There is evidence of Germany wanting to play Brazil in 2006. Brazil were one of the favorites among other nations (Germany, Argentina, etc.). When you “by chance” that doesnt automatically mean rigging. As I said before, the host nation/nations are usually given their own seed, then the remaining teams are seeded based on their world ranking. Brazil and Germany couldve met in the final regardless because they were on opposite sides of the playoff bracket, but Brazil ended up losing to France in the quarter finals, while Germany lost to Italy in the semifinals. There was no rigging at all, so I dont know why you brought this up as a relevant defense. You call me gullible, yet you’re the one pointing out alleged rigging/corruption when there was none. The first World Cup I remember watching was Mexico 86 (barely, just the Maradona goals), then Italy 90 (what a bore), and of course USA 94 (I had a summer job that summer so I had to listen the games over radio). France 98 is special because of the players. This was the time when European football was starting to get big in the States. What an amazing time that was.

Ronaldo, suker, vieri, inzaghi, batistuta, salas, zamorano, owen, shearer, trezeguet, bierhoff, kluivert, even tore andre flo. The times when pure strikers were common and scoring goals for fun. Pure strikers are so rare today. I can only think of haaland and lewandowski right now.

This Indian team was much more stronger than any other team of India,especially the current generation team.Indians must reinforce belief that they can match any team of the world then only they may reach the next level. Look at the speed of Indian wingers , they were simply mesmerising . Indians must watch full match to understand that to what extent they have deteriorated in the last four decades. From a Frenchman who was in Paris at age 20 that 12th of July 1998: it is not possible to describe this event and all the emotions that it provoked accurately, you had to be there, and I was lucky enough to be. Also, Davor Suker is a fucking legend, this goal he scored against us is one of my favorites.
