Those are simple, excellent, regularly necessary tools really needed in the majority on woodworkers and hobbyists tool shop. Great job at displaying both showing the tools and importantly their uses which helps viewers be more informed so they can choose
Woodpeckers fan boy here! I have quite a few of their tools, and regret none. I use the Delve square the most, followed by the not so budget friendly Exact 90 Miter Gauge. Also a big fan of their bits and blades. Thanks Matt.
There is no question that Woodpecker tools are well-made, shiny, attractive, and damn near irresistible. I have always felt that their expert marketing ("One-Time Tools") made me feel like an eight year old wanting that NFL football or some shiny toy for Christmas. The problem for me was that the time required to setup and successfully use so many of those shiny tools exceeded the skill and time i had. On the other hand I have not been disappointed by their well made and precise measuring tools.
You make a good point that some Woodpeckers tools are excellent values at reasonable cost. I ordered an expensive but fiddly "one-time" tool from Woodpeckers that I could not make work like the video demonstration on Woodpeckers website. It was likely my lack of woodworking skill or patience in setting the tool up that cause my disappointment, but I know that I was not alone in my opinion. In any event when I returned the tool I added a note advising Woodpeckers to always make tools where their manufacturing precision made the difference, e.g. tools like the edge rule and the paolini pocket rule. Every woodworker at all skill levels can appreciate those tools.
I have the miter gauge, it gets zero love by influencers on YT for some reason. It works great! And it's at a great price, it was actually my first woodpeckers tool. Than you for showing it some love! 👊
Great video Matt hopefully someday I’ll be able to add a couple of these to my Shop. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you and Amy and your family. God Bless.
I have both the stealthstop miter gauge and the miter sleds both are great. I epoxied a small magnet on top of the back of that gauges to hold the Allen key so they are always with them. I also recommend the sacrificial blocks for the end.
I have the miter gauge and have never regretted it. It’s never had to be recalibrated and the zero clearance inserts are so easy to make. Best miter bar Ive used yet. The biggest thing for me was they had the ability to get the fence 90 with the table. I know my rockler had no way to do it and I hated shimming it so heavily and popping the shims back out of sight every time I moved the fence. I haven’t regretted anything from woodpeckers. Love their bits and blades too
Mr. Outlaw, thanks to you I was picked up the deadnuts square to figure out a miter saw that kept frustrating me was no good. I ended up returning and getting a new mite saw and the square confirmed that I had gotten a good miter saw. I now have the precision squares as well. Pricey but you cannot beat the accuracy.
The confidence a truly square square provides is hard to explain to those who haven’t had the frustrations of chasing problems down with out of spec tools.
@bigpicturethinking5620 agree. For fun, I took my precision squares to the big box retailer when I needed to pick something up and checked their squares on sale and none were square. I ended up returning 2 Milwaukee squares back.
@@bernitup6492 Yep. With those box store level tools some will be square and some won’t. The cost of having at least a few dead accurate reference tools is absolutely worth it, just like having quality straight edges. Solves a lot of problems that cause major frustration and make woodworking less enjoyable. Some of my starret stuff is almost 20 years old now working just like new.
I have the Woodpecker Indexable miter gauge and it is awesome! I think it's around $40 more than the stealth stop and has more features. It's another woodpecker product totally worth the money. Great video!👍 Happy New Year to you and your family!🎉
I finished installing the Stealth Stop on a old Radiel Arm Saw and my cuts have never been this accurate before, It's a great buy. Thank you for the recommendation.
The notch at the end of the Paolini does help hold your pencil but it also helps account for the thickness of your pencil width so you get a line that actually matches your measurement
Magnetic trays are awesome for keeping small tools like that. I have several at the ready for situations just like that. I stock up on them from Harbor freight when they go on sale and different sizes. I've got most of mine $1.99 to$0.69. Great tip.
I have the 642 square and I love it. It was hard to spend that much on it, but I don't regret it. It is my go-to square. If something was to happen to it, I would not hesitate to buy another to replace it. Stay awesome.
I have everyone of these except the miter station set up. I always saw you mentioned the incra but then I saw the stealth stop miter guage and saw the price ordered it and it is awesome. I've been building my shop up for 4yrs and at this point I am good. All I want to purchase now is sand paper and glue for my projects lol.
Sorry, Matt, you're way off on that WP miter gauge -- like the tool itself. First, the little extension piece on the fence wasn't flush with the main fence. I had to install a large fender washer to get it close. The little plastic stop also cracked the second time I used it. But the main problem - and the one reason you shouldn't buy it - is the design of the head itself. Those indexing holes are great for setting up the angle, but holding the angle while in use is totally dependent on the handle screw. And it doesn't hold, no matter how tight I set it. By the time I finished cutting 8 rails for a cabinet project, the angle was off by nearly 4 degrees. I can safely say the only good component on the whole thing is the miter slot bar. Don't waste your money. Get the Incra or other quality gauge with indexing slots. My WP miter gauge is in my "lesson learned' junk pile.
I am curious about the miter gauge. Many of the videos I’ve watched (possibly even yours) say to toss the miter gauge and build a cross cut sled instead. I know the purpose of this video is to focus on woodpecker tools but I’m just beginning to build my shop and relying on you and a couple other folks for guidance. I appreciate all your videos and for pouring into newbs like myself. So, do I keep my Delta miter guide, toss it or upgrade it?
For allen keys I superglue or epoxy a neodymium magnet or two to the tool it adjusts so I can stick keep it with the tool it's adjusting. There is always some out of the way place that it can go on (maybe on the miter gauge stick it between the screws the fence attaches to). Also the Woodpecker's sales are no joke. A couple years ago I got a Forrest Woodworker II blade from them for $66. I couldn't click the order button fast enough on that one.
I don’t normally buy much woodpecker stuff, because of price. I have a garage budget workshop. I have the 8” Paulini rule and delve square. I use them ALL. THE. TIME. Give me those two tools with a 8ft tape measure, and 6” combo square, and I’m set. Most of what I do uses those tools.
I'm of similar opinion on Woodpeckers: there's something in that red anodizing that doubles the price. That said, they do have some great values. I have the 642, paolini and delve squares, and use them on just about every project. Very versatile layout tools.
In addition to the stealth stop miter gauge, you should take a look at the indexable miter gauge. Slightly more expensive but has a ton more features and is also inexpensive (by woodpeckers standards).
I have the miter gauge. Regarding the Allen key, the miter gauge is magnetic and can hold it. Also, they have a sled upgrade for it. And the fence extension can be placed on either side.
7:43 I'm kinda digging the stealth stop. You can leave it in place -- down for rough cuts then flip it out for finish cut. It would be super-super awesome if you could buy one or two extra, then you could set up a whole project without changing the stops. (This might be possible, I didn't check.)
For the Stealth Stop Miter Gauge's allen key, you could glue a small neodymium magnet to the back of the gauge/fence. Then, there's no having to reach under the table saw for it.
I think you said Story Stickbut meant Straight Edge ? sStory Sticks or Poles are typically a WoodenStick with Marksor Spots on it that can be used to transfer Those Marks onto another place or Location in a manner to Get things done in two different Places but remain very Accurate Often the StoryPole is made in a Shop that is building things like hanging Cleats or ZBar for Wood Panels that will be hung on those Cleats or Aluminum ZBar
The stealth stop miter gauge is good as long as you are using the detents. It's bad if you aren't. No matter how hard you crank down on the knob it shifts and that is really frustrating when you are on leg 4 of a table that required accurate half laps and you have to now go buy more wood because the *^%$#$#@* thing shifted! Ok I feel better now! And yes the allen key stinks. I have no problem keeping up with it but it's a pain to adjust and I have small hands. Can't imagine you men out there with big hands! Also, the "track" the stop block rides in "catches" wood if you are stacking pieces to cut simultaneously and can affect your cut. I believe they have upgraded the system. I hope it's better as I was very disappointed at the usability based on the price!
I found I don't use that pocket rule much, the small spreed square all the time, an the little 4" square a ton, that is a good price on that miter gauge for sure...
I enjoyed your woodworking videos and that is what made me want to subscribe, but i truly believe this should be called the 731 tool reveiws. There hasnt been an actual woodworking project build in over a year
That mitre gauge, will it work with a Kobalt job site saw, the mitre gauge that comes with it is horrible, $119 is not bad for that, it would make a great gift for one of you subscribers ( me) lol
Several things in life are worth the 'buy once, cry once' (always a subjective topic, you do you). Adding the MITUSA tax is a bit painful at times. No matter the brand, I'll pay a bit more for them when it's reasonable and something I'll foresee having for a lifetime.
Keep magnetic trays with several machines,.. 😆 Drill Press, Table Saw, Lathe,.. comes in handy all around. Yeah,.. like several of these items and have none of them. Making a list now. 🤣 No,.. really,.. I am.🙃
The ubiquitous allen key locking mechanism for this fence stop as well as for Incra's miter gauge is entirely absurd. These companies make such otherwise-great products... only to fall victim to a terrible adjustment/locking system that requires a tool (which is never where you want it to be). Onboard storage of the allen key helps... but c'mon guys. Solve this.
Saw this as well. Might come back in stock at some point on Amazon but not gonna hold my breath for it to do so. Incra works fine for me. EDIT: It does show a preorder availability thru toolnut for Feb 2025, not sure if that makes any difference
Woodpeckers has been having sales for the last few years not just on a new item. Subscribe to the eclub and you will get emails when they have sales. If you have an item you’re thinking about buying it will likely go on sale at least once every three months. Sometimes the sale is one day only so no time to hem and haw over whether or not to buy. Savings can be substantial or enough to cover tax and shipping verses regular price.
Woodpeckers has never paid me a single penny or given me a single tool. Calm down. Not everything is a big conspiracy “hawking” tools 🙄. And DFM hasn’t paid me or given me a tool to make a video or put their tools in videos. I’ve bought and paid for both Woodpeckers and DFM.
"Only $119"🤣...R U kidding, the whole DeWalt 7485 table saw is selling for only $300. How come a simple gauge with just a few pieces of cheap metal is demanding $100+. IMHO, these accessories should all be priced under $30, otherwise they are totally highway robbery!
While I am no fan of the woodpecker brand , I feel they are an overrated , over priced status symbol flex and nothing more . That said this miter gauge just may be the first thing I’ve seen from them that offers a fair value for the money. The stock miter gauge that comes with even with high end saws are generally difficult to make accurate cuts with. Most should be straight up thrown out. No matter what saw you have an upgraded miter gauge will improve your cuts . If I was in the market for a miter gauge in this price range ,there are several brands I would consider first. But I can’t bash this product for being over priced.
That Delve square is absolutely ridiculously priced for what it is. All of those features are negated by a cheap marking gauge, that is more accurate. Otherwise its just a less useful overpriced speed square
Woodpeckers rulers is a joke really. Shile ues they're accurate but so arent any amazon knock off. TH-camrs are doing videos left snd right on them as well and there's no reason to charge $100 for a machine to laser etch aluminum.
No mistake, Incra tools are better than Woodpeckers in my opinion. I feel that Incra tools are just as precise, just as well made, but lighter and easier to set up and use.
Clearly you become too big and lost touch with regular folks without a TH-cam channel or sponsorships. Nothing you presented was cheap for what they are!
Clearly you are in the wrong hobby if ya want cheap. Woodworking is not a cheap hobby. For what these tools offer most are a good bargain. And for what it’s worth I don’t own one woodpecker. But by the end of the day I will be ordering a their miter gauge. I like the looks of it
lol lost touch? Over the last 2 months I’ve featured tools from Harbor Freight, RYOBI, SKIL, KOBALT, and more. How’s that losing touch? No need to over react becasue you don’t like Woodpeckers tools.
If you sign up for their email you can sometimes actually get decent deals. The T square was 25% off recently and I love it. The mitre gauge competes with other more expensive brands and is probably more than most need (and very accurate). Of course a lot of their items are premium and premium priced, but you pay for the assurance of accuracy and quality (and name brand, of course). Sometimes, though, it can be a decent cost to do so.
?? 😂 Lost my ability to relate to the “common woodworker?” You’re not a regular viewer I assume. Over the last couple of months I’ve made a BUNCH of videos featuring budget friendly tools including SKIL, Harbor Freight, WEN, RYOBI, KOBALT, KREG, and more. Just because I make ONE video about Woodpeckers doesn’t mean I’ve lost touch. Over reaction much? 🤷🏻♂️
@731Woodworks You're the one where the saw stop and festool tools calling some woodpecker products comparably cheap, Mr. Started with a circular saw and two drills.

100% a thing. They actually market it that way and it’s a great idea.
Clearly he means in comparison to the rest of their product line, they've got squares for like 80-90 bux, so that miter gauge/fence isn't too bad
Thanks for sharing brother.
You really can’t put a price on accuracy. Miss your cut enough and that little 60 dollar tool that could be saving you starts to look cheap
For the Stealth Stop Miter Gauge's allen key, you could glue a small neodymium magnet to the back of the gauge/fence. Then, there's no having to reach under the table saw for it.
Would love a review on the stealth stop miter sled they have for job site saws
what size hex key does the flip out miter stop take. I am wanting to get one and it would be amazing if it is 5/32 as that is the Shopsmith key size.

Yeah,.. like several of these items and have none of them.
Making a list now. 🤣
No,.. really,.. I am.🙃
Does it come in metric
probably, most of their tools come in either
The ubiquitous allen key locking mechanism for this fence stop as well as for Incra's miter gauge is entirely absurd. These companies make such otherwise-great products... only to fall victim to a terrible adjustment/locking system that requires a tool (which is never where you want it to be). Onboard storage of the allen key helps... but c'mon guys. Solve this.
Woodpeckers StealthStop Miter Gauge is no longer available.
Saw this as well. Might come back in stock at some point on Amazon but not gonna hold my breath for it to do so. Incra works fine for me.
EDIT: It does show a preorder availability thru toolnut for Feb 2025, not sure if that makes any difference
That escalated quickly lol. Just added a link to one more authorized retailer (ToolsToday) that carry them.
@@731Woodworksthe outlaw effect 😂
60 bucks…..NOPE!
@1:04 Hey, you gained 5K subs in about 10 days! :)
How much $$ kickback u get from them that u constantly hawking them?
DFM? Constantly? How much do you get?
He says in the video he gets nothing... not affiliated.
YessA!
TEMU has a bunch of stuff that you would love!
Perceived quality is a real thing
@@milfordbass yeah but do they have anything red ? I can’t be cool if my squares aren’t red
The cheapest Woodpeckers tools are slowly turning into Jessem tools.
Keep in mind ,the Woodpckers Brands are easy to sell when your kids have your estate sale !
Again the links lead to unavailaable products
Happens often when I post videos. They sell out quickly. Sorry.
That Delve square is absolutely ridiculously priced for what it is. All of those features are negated by a cheap marking gauge, that is more accurate. Otherwise its just a less useful overpriced speed square
I find it quite useful personally.
@731Woodworks its a 4 inch speed square for $60 that is beyond ridiculous.
Anyone else think he looks like John Travolta? 😂
Woodpeckers rulers is a joke really. Shile ues they're accurate but so arent any amazon knock off. TH-camrs are doing videos left snd right on them as well and there's no reason to charge $100 for a machine to laser etch aluminum.
Damn i just bought the incra a few weeks ago
Incra is a good one!
No mistake, Incra tools are better than Woodpeckers in my opinion. I feel that Incra tools are just as precise, just as well made, but lighter and easier to set up and use.
Do you ever actually do any woodworking or are we 100% product promotion?
Projects don't earn enough money to make it worth filming
Clearly you become too big and lost touch with regular folks without a TH-cam channel or sponsorships. Nothing you presented was cheap for what they are!
His subscriber number says different
Ever seen the wood whisperer? Lol THAT is lost touch
This video shows Outlaw has lost his abilty to relate to the common woodworker with just a couple of tools who wants to make.
@@EyesOfTheInternet So after 8 years of woodworking, I should still be using the exact same tools I started with and never upgrade. Gotcha 🤣
@731Woodworks Dude, go work some wood instead of getting your knickers in a twist because someone disagreed with you on the internet.
I am a common woodworker and enjoy these videos
Woodpecker is like festool, overrated and overpriced.
