- In this video I show you how you can open the door on an r56 Mini Cooper that had become jammed shut and would not open using the internal door handle or the external door handle.
I tried everything from yanking and bashing the door and was even contemplating drilling holes to try and get it open but luckily I managed to figure this out and hopefully it helps others in this situation
Hi Mate, thank you, i had the same problem, just that my door pad was out. I followed your advice and it worked
Glad you managed to get it sorted, must have been easier with the door card already out.
@Bamfx1 Yes, it was. And I couldn't see properly, so I used my phone camera and light to extend the viewing, which helped plentiful
This got me out of a whole heap of trouble, thankyou so much. Keep it up. 👏🏼
Glad it helped, I was almost at the point of physically breaking the door before I managed to figure out how to get it open.
Dude, thank you so much! I hope I fix my problem
Glad I could help!
I have this same problem with my R56. Drivers door won't open with either handle. The door locks go up and down but the door won't open. I see people taking the inside door panel off but isn't that impossible since the door won't open? Passenger door only opens with the inside handle and the back hatch only opens by pulling the ring under the rear seat. It's a new car to me and it has sat for 10 years prior to me getting it.
Thats the same problem i had on the passenger side but the lock would not go up or down, so i think your issue might be that the cable has stretched too much to pull the mechanism enough. Its kind of impossible to get the door card off completely but as you can see from the video you can get it off enough to pry it back enough to get to the mechanism.
Hope this helps and good luck getting the door open.
@@Bamfx1 Thank you for the reply I was starting to get really frustrated. Did you have to take the seat out?
@@kirklarson116it would help to take it out but i didnt, moving the seat all the way back gave me enough room.
