absolutely amazing. As I was tearing down my motor in my garage back in November, you've been uploading detailed videos of the reassembly of the same exact motor without me even knowing and now I'm ready to put her back together and came across these. God bless you man

    to Grant 3758,
i also have a merCruiser 4.3L vortec that i am currently putting back together. In response to your question below, you do NOT want to put seal boots on exhaust valves, only on intakes. If you read the installation tips sheet on the felpro kit, it will tell you the same. Also, on the MerCruiser Service manual (#18), it says the same information on section: Engines- 3A-31 quote: "Install valve guide seal (intake valve only) over
valve stem and push down until seated against head." A quad ring goes in place on each valve just before installing keepers. Those are the small black flat-sided o rings found in kit. The seals are not designed to take the heat from the exhaust gases.

@ 7:15 was that a composite gasket? That beam style torque bar is fire. First one I ever had. Never really used it but had it.

I don’t recall, it was just in the kit I ordered. I love the old school beam torque bar, I feel it’s more accurate at lower numbers.

How do you remove and install the lifters?

I used a long magnet to pull them out. You can drop them in the same way.

What size rocker studs did you use?

In not sure, I just used what was already on the motor.

Hey question if you see this bud... iv got the heads off my 4.3 mercruiser and the exhaust valves dont have the seals on the bottom??? Im doing the felpro marine gasket kit and have 12 seals. Should I put them on?

Interesting, I have never seen a motor with seals on the valves, as the oil would run down the valve and burn up in the cylinder. All valves should have seals.

@wheelinoutwest ill throw them on and should help prevent oil burning like you said from what Im reading. Thanks for the tip man.

Grant, DO NOT place the seal boots on the exhaust valves, If you check the service manual and also in your felpro kit, it specifically says they only go on the intake valves. The small black o-rings in the kit go on each of valves. There is free access to the Mercruiser service manual. You will find the information on page 3A-31

    These are TTY bolts?

You would make more power with a carb. And headers. I let you know how much mine makes.

Appreciate that, this one is going in a small rock buggy, so my plan was to keep it very basic. I may end up doing headers due to size limitations.
