New AI traffic cameras trialled in Victoria

- New camera technology utilising Artificial Intelligence has been trialled in Victoria detecting offences such as mobile phone use while driving.
Almost 3,000 Victorians have been caught using mobile phones or not wearing seat belts while driving.
The AI has detected the offences over a one-month period.
All these things to "keep the public safe" will later be used on the public in the wrong hands. You can bank on that
Then there are those that day if you don't do anything wrong you have nothing to worry about. These people are stupid.
When cops are with and protect all the criminals then they need to make normal people into criminals

The AI isn't a witness. The AI helps find images/video that are then used as evidence. They could have had a human do the same thing over a decade ago, but the didn't. Because a decade ago they weren't confident the people would let it happen.
They better use videos , a picture tells a thousand words.

At the end of the day we all should respect the safery of other drivers. We have a duty of care to ensure we are safe on the road. I personally do not agree with being monitored and will be finding a solution for my privacy, not to do the wrong thing, but because I respect my privacy.
When they start paying me for doing the right thing, instead of fining the wrong- doers, I might begin to believe it's about safety on the roads.

I heard base is in Canberra for these camera's but Victoria is being trialed. So artificial cameras coming to your State soon. Its too late, we fell asleep at the wheel and now its all out of control.

Interestingly the road accident rate in Australia has been going up in recent years. With the significantly higher population in Japan the number of fatalities is only double that of Australia. This despite hardly any speed cameras or care for people using mobile phones whilst driving, or even seat belt in the back of the car. People here around Osaka routinely drive to the road conditions and other drivers, completely ignoring the speed signs or lights. Somehow it kind of works and feels much better than driving, especially in Victoria, Australia where it feels often there are car wrecks on the side of the major roads and more road rage.
