- It's time to leave our peaceful valley mooring and start cruising to Devizes for blacking. We are crossing two aqueducts yet again, make a dirt-cheap narrowboat hatch and run into a few problems on Alba. Even Zoe gets in trouble on Marigold. Challenging indeed it's so good to be back on the road again!

Hello again ! We fished in the Kennet & Avon canal early 1960 s when it was derelict, but very beautiful , ferns grew out from walls & lock gates ,depth of water in one lock was only about 2 ft instead about 10 ft through silting up ! I find it wonderful how so many canals have been rescued for the future generations to enjoy ! Thank you for all your broadcasts !
We've been looking at some photos of the canal from that time, it look so different. We are very grateful its been restored, there is so much beauty to enjoy. Absolute dream 💜 xx
The blender at 5.33 was an old British seagull 2 stroke outboard, once the most reliable outboard barge pusher on the market, some pre WW2. Many still running today,, mine starts every time!.. great vlog guys.

Hiya.. I noticed that you put a sheet of perspex for your hatch doors, good idea. I put sheets of perspex with 2 screws bottom of window frames ( to hold the weight of the perspex sheet) with a 2inch gap +/- with the window, used velcro and draft exclude tape.. worked really well in wintertime to keep warm and less condensation..good luck.. hope this can help.. enjoy

Good Nz morning guys. I might be missing something here. But what exactly was wrong with your engine.? Preventative maintenance on a narrow boat involves a few things that I as a renter back in 2008 was told HAD to be done each day, by the Hire company. And IT WAS DONE without fail. In order, once engine switched off.
1. Squeeze grease onto prop shaft. Ready for next day.
2. Check through trapdoor for anything like weed etc wrapped around your propeller.
NEXT MORNING....
1. Check engine oil level, while it's cold. And top up if required.
2. Check water cooling level and add if necessary. Unless it's an air-cooled motor. Such as a Lister.
3. Start your engine, and leave running for about 10 minutes. This is to warm up engine oil, before you put it under load. (Engage it in gear.) Your engine will love you.
With your general maintenance, never " assume" anything.
We only had our narrow boat for a week. We did what we were told. And we never had any problems, running it every day.

Afternoon guys let's keep our fingers crossed that the engine behaves it self, u don't need any break downs making u late for Alba's blacking slot. Nice to see the 3 of u and the 2 boats travelling 2gether, good team work😊👍. What a good idea the perspex is but it can chip and break very easy, is it possible to mount it in a frame for better protection? Hi Ralph, yep we like the drone, it does the job for now. It depends what you’ll want it for and how far you’d like it to fly. This one has 30 mins flying time which works for us 👌
Great vids folks I’m about to launch my little sailing trimaran and hope to do some trips up the Northumberland coast. Not much room though not like your comfy canal boat but it’s a great thing to sail to get to places without motor power.
Its sounds wonderful John, sailing around might be even more fun when its warm!

On a boat the Cross of St George flag denotes an admiral on board and so should not be flown. The Dunkirk Little Ships are allowed to use it when two or more boats are attending an official gathering. The Thames river police have been known to have a word with boaters that flout the rules.
The house flag of the ADLS is the Cross of St George defaced with the Dunkirk town coat of arms.

Hi Elizabeth, thank you for watching, I hope you made it to the point where we explained that we are moving for an important reason - we are going to a boatyard to take Alba out of the water for blacking.
You are allowed to move the boat for essential maintenance and that is what M & M are doing. Blacking is essential maintenance apart from those pesky engine problems.
Its evident theres a lot more boats on the southern part of the canal network compared to the north and marina i am guessing you have british citizenship by now, just dont be going for any jobs at GCHQ, only kidding. lol
