The music is surprisingly awful, IMO, must have been Louis Horst accompanying the dance, but it sound like he's accompanying a silent movie, so literal and monotonous! The first time I watched this I didn't have the sound on - much better! Would be interesting to create a new score for it. Thank you so much for posting.
I think the music helps in understanding the dance. The heretic's pleading for mercy is rebuffed over and over -- monotonous, as you say-- until she finally gives up. At least that's how I understand it. Idk what Graham thought.
