Super nostalgic! My kid brother had the Tomytec motorized model kit with the yellow frame. I helped him build this big boi, and man it was so satisfying as a kid seeing a toy you build from the ground up that actually moves on its own. So tempted to get this and gift it to him. 😁
Happy to see Zoids getting some love. The iron kong is such a heavy model but looks awesome, hype for that Gokulas ,i guess is the normal one? The ogre is such an amazing and huge model.
i've built and painted couple of zoids, including the regular iron kong and gojulas and i can say i currently prefer them over gunpla for the value I get from painting them. They do provide good colour separations but there are a lot of areas where its like HG where it would look better if you mask them and paint them for more separation, 'unleashing' the full potential of the kit. It is a test of patience but ultimately rewarding and great looking kits, more variations than the regular humanoid look of most gunplas.
Awesome. I used to collect the OG motorized Zoids back in the late 80's and 90's. The only one I got that had a giant box with a handle like that was King Gojulas. I remember I got it and Deathsaurer at the same time from Kimono My House in the mid/late 90's when they were recently released. Sadly I sold all of them long, long ago before they even started making these modern articulated kits.
I had the giant sregosaurus Zoid in 87. Found it in a clearance store and got my grandma to get it for me. It still might be boxed up in my moms basement.
Had a lot of fun building the Yeti, and it looks really imposing! Currently working on the Gojulas Ogre. HMMs are a joy to build and they look amazing!
Thank you for reviewing another Zoid kit ZakuAurelius, I still would love to see you review the Gojulas. Did anyone else notice that the Death Saurer was on the cover art? Looking forward to more great Videos 👍🏻
Must feel bad being on backpack pilot duty. You hear explosions and gunfire and all kinds of action, but all you're seeing is the rear, like, "Where's the eneny? What's going on? WHEN DO I FIRE?!?!" 😢
Zoids seems to be getting a lot more attention nowadays. Thinking I might get some of those. I already pre-ordered the death saurer, Guysak and waiting for a release of the Salamander. Might even get those human Fiona and blade liger models too.
Probably about 15-18 hours. I’m building the regular one right now. Probably about 8 to 10 hours in. But I’ve built the Ogre before and that took nearly 30 hours. It has half the runners. I actually got mine for a steal at $81 USD which is incredible since $125 is usually the starting point for this kit.
An anime store at a mall a couple hours from me has a bunch of Gunpla and Zoids kits, was wondering how good these Zoids kits were thanks for the video
I'm getting into models now. Just got done with my first one which was the Heavy Arms Gundam(I had the figure when I was little.) So I'm looking for a zoid. Something heavily armored. Was looking at Dark Horn. But Kong may be one for me. Think I had that as a child too.
The only HMM kit I have is the Death Stinger and that's already massive. I can't imagine going up to this or the Gojulas. That's just asking "Space? What space?"
I had to re-organize my shelves, put things away and actually threw out and donated some other things to make room. At this point I have 13 HMM kits, another on the way and I pre ordered guysack and death saurer. Waiting for Koto to finally formally give a release for the Salamander. I actually used hooks and fishing line to hang my flying Zoids from the ceiling.
Saying "300mm" instead of "30cm" is a psychological trick to emphasize the MM size as bigger. Even though they are equal size. Larger number of small unit. Rather than smaller number of a bigger unit.
The PK is far more expensive than the regular one. Personally I like the standard version more. I don’t really like the color scheme of the PK. I’ve built both though. The Ogre took me six days, about 30 hours to put together. I pretty much dug in and spent all my free time that week just building that. Be aware, the ogre has over 90 runners. You’re gonna need a large workspace and pretty much label everything before getting started. At least the manual tells you what runners you need per page so you don’t have to go hopping around. Iron Kong took a bit over half the time. It’s still took me four days but that was because I didn’t spend six hours a day on it. Maybe three or four hours. But unlike the ogre there were parts that I had to pause to interpret the instructions. The Ogre is I would say mid range difficult. But it’s just the sheer volume of runners and pieces. Iron Kong took a lot less time but I would consider a more difficult build.
I’ve thought about getting the standard iron Kong. But I can only buy so many kits and I just go the König Wolf which I had to pay $130 to get was higher on my want list and I pre ordered the death saurer and I have a saber tiger coming from Japan. No more for me for a while. Gojulas is their biggest kit. That thing took me almost 30 hours to put together.
You won't be able to find Zoids in places like Hobby Lobby or Target but there's a few good places online. I was hearing there was a distributor issue but most of the bigger US hobby stores started buying directly from Kotobukiya. This year there was even a bunch of reproductions of older kits which is rad :3
@@DotHacker99 ya. that was the story and ya outside those small ones I only have hobbytowns around me. They can get kotobokuya stuff but not the zoids. Will haveta check around again. kinda gave up looking at start of the year pretty much when told of the issue. tnx
@@ChessatheCalico I hope your local store gets a new supply in soon. I believe bigger stores started getting from Koto direct in March & April with first batch (Fire Fox) just hitting shelves. If you make the plunge into hmm zoids I recommend Fire Fox or a small zoid since they don't require glue and look good out of the box.
eBay and Amazon. Although you have to keep an eye out as you can get deals but you need to be careful because people do price gouge. Especially the konig wolf. But that’s getting better. And especially a lot of the sellers from Japan. Ironically though they are also have some of the better deals. I have a saber tiger that I got for $75 and a buster tortoise for $60 from Japan coming in. You just have to wait about a month and a half to get it.
Was there ever Takara Tomy Zoids? I feel like i used to see those on local malls here in the Philippines back when i was a kid. Or i could just be remembering it incorrectly
Yep mostly in waves for Tomy. This year and next year there's a new line of 1/100 called Realize. There's a ton of fan favorites with the first 2 being Blade Liger and Geno Saurer
Two reasons: most of the designs are as personally appealing to me, and I don't have enough time as it is to cover all the kit's I'd like to review from Bandai, Koto, etc. There have been a couple that have come out recently that looked interesting but I just haven't had the chance.
@ZakuAurelius nah I feel you and appreciate it you want to build only what you find interesting, but your missing alot of the buzz with these new kits, especially as these other companies are fastly approaching and often beating bandai in quality and taking advantage of the 1/100 gap bandai have left. I know alot of people would appreciate your reviews on these new kits
300 mm instead of 30 cm is because the extra 0 will give the buyer placebo in thinking instead of double digit number the item size is triple digits and instead of 1 zero it's 2 zero oooh tempting😅

Yeah it’s the Gojulas Marking Plus Ver.
@@ZakuAurelius oh ! That's the white and light blue one . Good luck , I'll be waiting for that video good sir

Nice to see you covering some Zoids, I just got the Gojulas the Ogre kits and the box is ridiculously huge and have Iron Kong PK on the way.
Thanks for reviewing another zoid kit. I'm newly into hmm and lovin' it :3
Gojulas coming soon!

It must be awkward being the Backpack pilot, hope he at least gets the privilege of pulling the trigger on the backpack guns lol
Also some zoids has a pilot on it’s tail 💀
Saji feel that on 00 raiser😅

also Takara Tomy just announced that they will be making 1/100 scale Zoids kits as in the fully pose-able ones not the motorized toys that they made.

Love zoids kits
looks freaking awesome. One massive chunk of awesomeness
This kit just looks so intimidating for the sheer amount of time it will take to build. I'm hoping to buy this in the near future.

Snipe Master, that dedicated sniping cockpit...
This kit looks great!
It’s been so long I forgot to comment burn stick on the videos for almost a year. The military sure keeps me busy
glad to see it again!

Iron Kong PK and Gojulas Ogre are the 2 I've always wanted to get my hands on
The PK is far more expensive than the regular one.

This kit originally came out in August 2016 for 16,800 yen.
Do the mobility of that Iron Kong 3x faster?
If you can, try getting the gojulas. Zoids' godzilla and IronKong's rival.
I got the Marking Plus version here in the queue to review! There's a little teaser for it at the end of this video!
Get some Debison in!!! I want one so bad!!!!!
ZOIDS! 😍
That thing is ridiculous, but I appreciate that.
Mine himmel ❤😂
Ohhhhh the big boi
Must feel nice to get this gorilla of a review off your back.
Haha yep! I was putting off finishing those cable parts! 😰
@ZakuAurelius
I've heard stories about Zaku II pipes and their many parts. This had to be at least as bad.
These zoid kits look so cool. I wish they held up as easily as bandai kits though.
Edit: I take that back I want one now.
Thoughts on hmm gojulas?
Not build it yet but it's gonna be quite the endeavor!
Man those zoids kits are something else. Shame its so hard to find them, specially locally. Supplies issues is what I was told.

Too true!
This should've been what Char used against Amuro rather than Z'Gok or Zeong, no?
im only have D style zoid super saurus , blade liger and deathsaurer T_T
It's a cool kit, but unfortunately the price point is too high for me to accept.
Fun fact: Gundams are just humanoid Zoids
wrong as we do have actual humanoid Zoids and they are called "Z-Knights" and there are model kits and figures of them.
Knowing how zoids are made: 💀
