The sound and performance are so good!! ㅠㅠ I ordered this Ultra II because I fell in love with its ebony fingerboard, quarter-sawn neck, and Select Elder body. However, since it will be released in Korea after November, I applied for overseas direct purchase. I can't wait... In Korea, people really disliked this Ultra II because of its unique paint combination and especially because it doesn't have block inlays... I wonder what other countries' reactions are like. ^^
You're too kind! THANK YOU! That's a stretch, but I enjoy my job and bringing good (hopefully) content to the bass community! Thanks for watching and for being a part of pour channel - Anthony
Great review! So all Pro II and Ultra II 4 and 5 strings come with Posiflex? It's hard to tell sometimes because even Fender's own specs/site sometimes doesn't mention it.
The rods shouldn’t be necessary (and they don’t help the tone) with a quarter-sawn neck. And I can’t understand why there’s a ‘skunk stripe’ when it’s not a one piece neck. With a hard ebony fingerboard and quarter-sawn neck it will be VERY bright, maybe too stiff for the truss rod to work properly, and I imagine that the truss and rods will rattle in the neck accordingly (!)
Man, this bass has me GASing very bad. I just picked up a Player Plus Jazz pretty recently, so I’m not at all on the market. But my god I love everything about that.
Me too! I have all kids of nice basses and don’t own a Jazz anymore so I’ve been looking and trying not to buy, but that burst one has my legs shivering lol
What's your amp setup? How do you record this audio like do you mix direct amp sound with mic and if yes what mic are you guys using? It sounda really good! Great demo as always
Why did they do that color pickguard? The other one that comes on the Texas tea with maple and black inlays is so much nicer, I do love the switch is mid switching!
@@EmpireMusicPghthank you! Still hoping for that 5 string version of this tho. I want ebony but me spending almost 4 bands on a bass, I want mine looks unique but Ultraburst is kinda usual so that's why. I really dig you guys recorded bass demo sound, it's sounds like its track ready ❤
5:42 Tony, I'm pretty sure the Ultra series has the Graphite Rods as well? All American Fenders since 1995 have them except the Vintage lines and Reissues.
Fender website says they use « Posiflex » trussrod while the older ones on the Ultra I are Bi flex. That looks like the same thing but I could be wrong
I am disappointed with the color choices. Silver pickguard, no binding, no gold pearl inlays on the fretboard... The bass lost its premium look. The Ultra 1 looks MUCH better. The improvements (Luminlays, preamp, Bridge, trussrod nut location) are nice but they don’t explain the price alone. If there’s ONE thing the Ultra 1 had many issues with : shielding. The previous Ultra had TONS of buzz from interferences. Have Fender finally shielded the cavities ??? Also, some Noiseless pickups also had buzz due to uneven coils, making them imperfect hum buckers. Considering the price, I hope they fixed that too, but well... We know Fender ahaha. Nice demo btw, as always. Thx Anthony !!!
It's Fender, any color you want as long as it's 3TSB or white. I agree that these seem like an improvement in some ways like the quartersawn neck, but a downgrade in others (headstock truss access wtf? and who heard of a premium jazz w/o blocks/binding?). It's like Fender just took all their available options, put them in a dice cup and shook them out onto a table.
I don't feel they have deviated THAT far from the OG designs though. Sure they have updated to fit some more modern players w/ this particular line, but you can still explore some very accurate remakes of Leo's original designs. I am very happy that they have a broad range of instruments that allows the player to make a choice. I agree... I prefer vintage "Leo" stuff, but I see and appreciate the modern designs as well.... and I appreciate YOU and your opinion. Thanks for watching - Anthony
@@EmpireMusicPghTrue. I will concede that noiseless J pickups have value in some situations- I like the sound of real single coils better though. Onboard preamps can mask the immediate response/dynamics from the instrument to the amp I believe, though a FET preamp like Sadowsky's or the '70s Music Man preamps are an exception from my experience.
I realize fender started it all but it’s the same ol tired tried and true designs Sandusky has their killer Pre amp, Spector has their Tone pump They need to Jazz up their instruments… no pun intended
I like dot inlays with binding, but not block inlays with no binding, but binding with block inlays is good but dot inlays without binding is good on ebony. If that makes sense.
I dont know what wrong with Fender, after making one of the bast basses with the Elite series, they go one step back to produce the Ultra, much inferior, and now this?
I will respectfully disagree.. the Ultra and Ultra II are a nice advancement in sound (for my taste, but maybe not your's.. and that's the beauty of gear) as well as construction stability. I very much respect your opinion and am glad your a part of our discussion. Different strokes for different folks, and in all honestly there is no right or wrong. Thanks for watching - Anthony

@@mkbass1988 it’s similar in France I would say, the block inlays were very nice !
@@Romain_ChaforeEveryone feels the same way! I really like the specifications of this one, so I bought it, what a pity, T T.😂

Sounds great too! Thanks for watching - Anthony
no Block Inlays ? sad face
or Stainless Steel Frets.
@christopherfidler3019 was kinda hyped for the Ultra 2 Series until this lol , Ultra 1V all day Every day 👊

I can confirm that's those lines have the Posiflex. Ultra 1's?, well that''s the hottest topic going right now. Thanks for watching - Anthony
Do you prefer the J or the P bass?

They always change something...fore better or for worse. Switchable mids is NICE!!! Thanks for watching - Anthony
Fender should have used ebony instead of pau ferro during that time when rosewood was not used.
Well.. they are no longer using Pau Ferro, so we move on from this discussion... FINALLY. Thanks for watching -Anthony
They used both pau ferro and ebony while not using rosewood
I wish we could get a 5 string version of this color. Sounding so good! How did you record this?
We record a DI from the amp and blend in an SM94 mic, so you're hearing both on bass videos. Thanks for watching - Anthony

Ebony is best

I miss playing with the pick tho. 😔
