Senora Crucita is a lovely woman, and the large bowl is extremely beautiful, both perfect in shape and decoration. I’ve visited Santo Domingo Pueblo on public feast days about 45 years ago - wonderful drumming and dancing!!! I will never forget it ! 😍
A friend of a friend at San Ildefonso invited me to see how she fired her pots - a great privilege!!! I knew about the firing, but still I was surprised by the smell in my car driving home! Lol! I truly felt a part of the experience! I do love north New Mexico - Albuquerque and further north. ❤️

It’s not just the tool but far more important are the hands and eyes of the one who uses it ! What a treat to watch you form the small jug!

Actually there are quite a number of different Yucca species and varieties in New Mexico- 20 according to the USDA Plants database, but some are rarer than others. I'm not from New Mexico but my best guess is its one of the more common species like a Yucca harrimaniae (Spanish bayonet) or Yucca glauca (soapweed yucca). Most Yuccas are full of fibers and aren't poisonous, so even if you did get the wrong species you'd probably be ok. Just don't take from the center of the plants, only the leaves on the edges so they won't die.
