Ionic bond is formed between positive ion and negative ion meanwhile metallic bond is formed between positive ion and sea of delocalised electrons. Li is a metal, all metal can lose e easily to form metal ion (cation), and hence the metal ion able to form attraction with sea of delocalised electrons (those electrons that are donated by Li)

There's actually some problem out there. Intermolecular force is not accepted for group 18 elements in spm. Because they are atoms not molecules.
