Ironic how Barry always claims to care so much about opportunities for kids to play sport in this country and wants more focus on it, yet he’s also happy to ship all of the events held here over to Saudi Arabia in order to make a quick buck. Respect him a lot as a businessman and think he’s great at it, but equally a massive hypocrite.
But going to Saudi benefits everyone, not just him. The players get paid more. I think most of us would be happy to play over there if we were getting paid a lot more

I get it. I love boxing. I have just watched in the space of a year all the dream fights I want and more to come. No atmosphere but I'm going to have to get past that plus some of these fighters some people or casuals have not heard with some upsets along the way. When you have a builder changing his life over night rather than giving it up or getting a grand for a fight over here it's hard to argue.

When we went to the world final 5-6 years ago, you had to buy beer vouchers before going to the bar. The sign above the bar said it closed at 10:30pm so we stocked up on vouchers to save queuing twice.
Then because the match was looking likely to be over fairly quickly we went out to buy the rest of our drinks only to find the bar was closed at 9:30pm with no way for us to get a voucher refund.
As a group this cost us £50 in unclaimed vouchers.
Felt robbed!!!
The same thing happened to a group of us at the O2 darts final a few years ago, we weren’t even told what time the bar was closing😪😪😪

venues usually keep all profits from drinks sold, and doesn't go to the organisation hiring the venue...

Thats over an 18 week period so not nearly as much as other sports players are paid. £17,500 per week. Yes its a lot of money but its not just the darts games he has to do. Its all the media days on the wednesdays and promos he has to do.
He has no fear even after a bad 3 darts he steps up the same every time the fact he can just jump up to the level he has in front of the crowds is amazing he's hitting 9 darters and winning the same events as Phil Taylor and he's only 17. I saw yesterday he's been throwing darts since 2 so that's 15 years already lol that's mental.

Someone is making a killing, when you consider ticket prices, attendance numbers, sales inside the venues across the premier league season plus broadcast rights! Seems that players are making a good living but it should be a higher purse given the revenue base.
I totally agree about the Tiger Woods comparison. Tiger changed the game and specifically the prize money in golf ten fold. Littler should have been paid more for sure but it will happen now.
If you compare it to other darts competitions i would agree because of the effort they go to however sports money is ludicrous already and doesnt need increasing

Hearn making the money and players getting robbed. 17 weeks and 5k plus venues and they payout £275k for winning the prem league of darts. 7-10 million I would guess from watching for 17 weeks and nevermind the sponsorship. Unless your in top 8 and winning, dart players are not making much after tax.
