This is very helpful. More then other build guides because you actually go into detail and explain each of you choices. I'm fairly new and its helpful when you break it down to the bare bones of every choice.
This is on my list to try after your shoutbow build. With that build I did 3w/7l in placement and then 12w/5l it is performing amazingly for me .I am new to the game so I never thought warrior can be top heal every match. I even dced twice and still got top heal and the win in a game. Thank you for all these amazing and ineresting builds.
Personally I would recommend to delay the use of conusme conditions for when you have a lot of conditions in conjunction with a lowered health pool for maximum effect as it has a rather long coldown. In your gameplay footage there are a couple of ocations where an early use of the heal cost you your life. Often times escaping to shroud and loosing lifeforce, spectral walk unholy martyr can be a better option. Also, the combo with exiting shroud to comsume conditions will get you less value from your heal becasue of unholy martyr. I know I probably sound very mean at this point. The only reason I'm writing this post is because I only recently learned how to play necro (in wvw pvp) and it felt to me like the timing of the heal (consume condition) is one of the most crucial things when trying to maximise the survivability of necro. And I feel like your necro could be even more devastating this way. I can't help to be impressed every time with how you make use of the little "jumping puzzles" on these pvp-maps. I learned so much new paths just from watching a couple of your videos this week. I have a lot of respect for you putting yourself out there only to potentially get criticized by random plebs like me ;-). I hope you have an amazing day and keep up the good work.
I've recently returned to the game and have never really played anything besides Thief when I did play. It's still a lot of fun drawing away 1-3 at a time to try to stop me from flipping/capping or taking 1v1s if i think i have a good chance, but I wanted to try Necro and this video looked so awesome. I set the build up (and an outfit, look good play good) and went 11 kills 0 deaths having never played Necro before. I felt like a god, it was ridiculous. We still lost because the enemy NPC killed our Lord thing, but holy shit what a fun time. Thanks for the build and the play tips, great content.
very time watching your video is a kind of enjoyment, I am a very very new player of PVP, I hope to be able to see more wonderful video of scourge, thank you very much :D
honestly i can no longer do without focus off hand on power necro builds anymore. the extra 1200 range gave me a kill on rev, thieves and mesmers so many times its sometimes the sole reason i i take spite ps: i 'd love to have rune of the pack back in pvp. lynx/traveler/speed are boring
Hey Vallun, rather new to GW2 and pvp with the game. I've been experimenting with a lot of Necro builds, and found this one to be a lot of fun. Instead of Axe/WH backbar, is it viable at all to run Scepter/Focus for a good amount of boon ripping? Thanks in Advance!
you can run focus instead of wh but axe removes boons on the 3 and its a power weapon. If you mean axe and scepter i have a hybrid build if u check my video called off meta necro builds
They should make Executioner's Scythe do substantial damage to targets with low health, or maybe even finish the downed target, as the name implies. Some sort of additional functionality needs to be added to the skill. Right now it's sort of weak in competitive fights, unfortunately. Often times it's better to just auto-attack spam or exit shroud for utilities. - For comparison: *Executioner's Scythe:* • affects 1 target • 1.25 second cast time • 2.25 second stun • 3-5 base damage • 4 second chill combo field • 30 second cooldown *Full Counter:* • affects 5 targets • instant cast time • 2 second *daze* • 27 base damage • block and evade frames • unblockable • resets burst skills • 2 second stability • 12 second cooldown Granted, one is a class mechanic and the other is a weapon skill, I still firmly believe Executioner's Scythe needs to be reworked. The same can be said for Gravedigger, at least in PvE.
I might even agree, but the full counter comparison makes no sense whatsoever. They fulfill completely different roles in completely different professions. It has nothing to do with how Reaper shroud should play, and sounds a lot like the 90% of forum posts that boil down to useless "other classes are more op than mine" QQ.
@@duncanrobertson6472 It's meant to serve as merely that, a comparison, there was no definitive point or intended complaint in doing so. Many other skills could've been compared instead. No PvP balance is perfect, especially not in this genre, but it's still something worth talking about. And for the record I play all classes, and Warrior is one of my favorites. =)
Glad to hear it, and glad I misread that. I do think Anet should steer away from overly stacked abilities, but on the other hand I can appreciate a slow necro skill with a visible animation, and something like that deserves some reward
I totally understand their point to negate the damage of big CC skills but executioner's scythe completely lost its identity, I would change the stun to a daze or remove CC completely and give it its execution power back.
Yea Reaper is still the win more class. You just have to work 10x harder for half the benefit some other classes give you. Pretty much every other class dictate to you how the fight will go. They want to kite you, no prob. They want to retreat to recover from you? No problem. Everything is so slugish that if someone is directly on top of you with a fast weapon you have to go shroud. In combat of any kind if you are able to control what the opponent does, you win. What really annoyed me was increasing the shroud cooldown from a possible 5 seconds to now 10. So now you cannot flash tank short bursts of damage for defensive efficiency. Arena net have just been completely inept at necromancers design and lack understanding of combat
Toxic mentality that everything needs a nerf 'cause it does what it's supposed to do. Let things live man. It's really not over powered. it's just the other things being weak as shit!
i could use your same logic to say buff everything up to the levels of the broken stuff. Thats the logic that gets us back to power creep meta which we literally just tried to evacuate from

Love trying your builds, got 15w/7l in gold 3 US tonight with this build

For sure, thank you for the input, ill try Axe/Focus
the closeness of this match lol
It's a YOLO build good for countering complete noobs, any team with half a brain will shut it down very quickly.
disagree
agree
This build still hold up great?
Hi is this guide still up to date or are there any changes?

@@duncanrobertson6472 Agreed.
I like this build it almost makes me want to be normal.
What a build Vallun you have out done yourself this time haha it owns, I love it. Please delete this video ;)
u should have sigil of savage on gs. those extended long stuns can be huge.. especially on shroud camping necros.
cool idea, i like it with the increased stun durations of the recent patch
Does shroud decrease when you use abilities as well? Or does shroud life force only decrease when you take damage and also when it drains by itself?
use skills as much as you can they only have cds
can you make a build for thestreets and possibly the forbidden cele reaper?
much better than metabattle build
I have been having big fun in pve on my griever's / eagle rune rifle GS berzerker: if i take it into ranked will I get hard-spanked?
Ritual of life got nerfed to 1%, should we still take it then?
yes
They shouldn’t have nerfed executioners scythe. It’s a finishing move...
