Matt Mercer always blows me away by how genuinely nerdy and loveable he really is despite being a highly successful celebrity and icon in gaming and fantasy.
I feel like that's how his career got going. He's in nerd games because he's a nerd who likes games, and he made a nerdy DnD show that got popular because he's a nerd who played DnD in front of a camera.
@@MammalianCreature I see what you're saying but we gotta be honest here and say that's only half the story. There are PLENTY of nerds who like games and can't get in nerd games, and also plenty of attempts at actual play RPG series that don't ever get popular. Mercer not only genuinely likes these things but he's got a knack for what he does, both in terms of DMing and voice acting. That's the killer combo, liking what you do AND being great at it.
I love Matt as Vecna in DBD. I havent been into dnd recently but i was a while ago and its very dear to me. The dnd chapter in general was phenomenal, but i love critical role and the fact that Vecna was Matt truly showed the love letter that it was to dnd. And of course he crushed it
@@Ghelasin The storyline is rather forgettable IMO but the mission design and the amount of cool and unique gameplay twists they apply to it is phenomenal. Anyone giving it a miss for its length, well, it's their loss.
omg scaler was a game I loved as a child and I had NO IDEA that Matt was in that. Insane how this guy has been significant to me at basically every point in my life and I had no idea who he was till I found Critical Role lol.
I just love how down to earth he still seems to be. One of the celebrities (and yes, I would consider him one) that I would love to meet and just have a nice chat - and propably nerd out over some of the things he has done or voiced in his career.
I can't believe this is how I find out that Matt Mercer was the voice of Scaler. One of my favorite (obscure) platformers. I LOVE that game! I wonder how many other things I've played that he's in that I didn't realize...
I did actually play Scaler as a a kid, it was actually a pretty decent platformer. i played it twice since my brother deleted my save when i was literally at the end so i had to play it all over again to finish it
Since they didn't do one for Fire Emblem Awakening, allow me to give it a try: Man teams up with best friend and/or wife to kill best friend and/or wife with the help of his/their daughter
Himbo prince teams up with twink boyfriend to save his time-traveling daughter He also played Ryoma, Azama, and Shigure in Fates! So, lobster prince manipulates step-sibling into thinking they are full siblings, only revealing the truth after they decide to get married. Or, blue haired boy who is the spitting image of his songstress mother gets shipped off to the baby microwave dimension, where he tries to learn the power of song, but instead learns to be a child soldier
@@cyndit9054 Somehow I'm always surprised when I realize just how many characters this man has voiced. "Baby microwave dimension" might just be the funniest thing I've read in a long time :p
Overwatch 1 was 6v6, Overwatch 2 is 5v5, and the maps are set across the world. "Cosplay enthusiasts" was where they lost me since that's incredibly vague and could apply to a lot of games, but as Matt said it's probably all the skins.
Matthew Mercer is an incredibly prolific voice actor, according to IMDB he is credited on over 460 things. Not to mention that he's one of the most beloved DMs on the internet.
This might be harder for us if we didn't immediately get the most recognizable title arts on the planet very very badly mosaic'd that we can still perfectly recognize them. Kinda better off without them if we wanna play along.
Angsty teen steels his military friends identity and trravels the world on giant chickens with some cata, a giant stuffed animal a vampire and a science experiment (and others) in an effort to thrawt another military friends world domination plan.
The persona one was such a softball description especially when metaverse is in the description lol. Couldve been a group of teenagers help bring corrupt adults to justice in unnatural ways.
I’m glad he still looks back on Titanfall 2 fondly, because it’s probably his most boring role ever. Only so much you can do with “generic shooter protagonist” but it definitely helped BT shine by comparison
You should stop putting covers of games in and let the audience guess too. And why do you even pixelate them if you set a giant poster as a background?
Give us some more bad descriptions of Matt Mercer's games!
Cop gets into fights way over his pay grade - Mortal Kombat 9 (Stryker)
Back to the Future in medieval times - Fire Emblem Awakening (Chrom)
Malcom in the Middle of East vs. West - Fire Emblem Fates (Ryoma, Azama, Shigure)
Reincarnated person chases god, catches them, has a big "Now what?" moment. - Pillars Of Eternity 2 : Deadfire. (In which he plays *many* voices)
Random amnesiac literally lands in a town, ends up making money and dating dungeon bosses (Rune Factory 4)
still annoys me they renamed mccree to cassidy for no reason
A group of soon-to-be soldiers enjoy field trips and a spooky mansion as their country falls apart around them - Trails of Cold Steel (Olivert Reise Arnor)

thats why he is famous lol

"No, no, no, no, COWBOY."
Good to know Matt also immediately pictured Minsc, Gale and Astarion walking into Elfsong with that first one

This is how I found out that Matt Mercer voiced Scaler, holy crap!
Same. I can’t believe it. That takes me back.
The Scaler throwback caught me off guard I loved that game as a kid
Same. I remember seeing it on his filmography and it sent me way back.
i genuinely forgot that game existed and then saw the clip and was like WAIT THAT I REMEMBER THAT like that's SO bizarre
Its super underrated.
2:52 Agreed Titanfall 2 is underrated.
BASED take
8 hour campaign. Pass.
@@Squant It is genuinely one of the best story lines in gaming. the Titanfall 2 campaign is _Incredible._

Brrooooooo same here
Some of the censorship blurs did nothing, I recognized half the blurs lol. Even Overwatch and I don't even play it lol.
Overwatch’s cover art is too iconic
Brain can't read words despite doing it for a living. Need I remind you of the Aurora incident Mr. Mercer? Lol
you need to go and spread your legs a little, you're watching too much of Campaign 3
How hard are you?
Shivers and queef
I’ll raise that with a ‘Spreading your legs’ 😂
"It has begin!"
and
"Spread your legs..."
Is Mike Hunt there?
I'm sure this will go very well (this feels like a creativity battle)
I had a friend with a GameCube who got Scaler for it. I almost forgot that game existed until you mentioned. I remember it being pretty fun.
Hes such a gem!!!
Matt: "oooo thate a good one im using that as the basis for the next campaign"
100% agree with him on Titanfall 2
It's an even bigger masterpiece when you discover the cookie crumbs in the campaign
I just love how down to earth he still seems to be.

I did actually play Scaler as a a kid, it was actually a pretty decent platformer. i played it twice since my brother deleted my save when i was literally at the end so i had to play it all over again to finish it
Matt might be the only person other than me that remembers Scaler. Small game true, but back in the days when small games were fun, too.
And has a gun like every vampure, me "hellsing 👀"

I’m Ready for Titan Fall 3
As he read the first one I got flashbacks of so many characters he had played.
Kind of wish they pulled from one of his first roles, Ace Combat 5 from 2004
WHAT
@massivemodds1974 yeah he was Gennete the reporter in ace combat 5

I wonder if he was shown these pixelated covers because that's how I got most of these
I just realized that his Vecna is a modified version of Nagash's model from Age of Sigmar.
I didn't know he was Cooper or Cassidy! The more I learn about this guy the more I love him.
Matt is a TREASURE.
He needs to be protected at all costs!
4:16 I can tell this game just from the blurred image of Tracer
let's go titanfall 2
At 4:40 he literally does Cassidy’s laugh lmao
I had no idea I killed thousands of Matt Mercers when I played through MGSV...
Ganondorf has the most swag
Wow, Nintendo is so subtle
4:16-So, I've met 2 Majima English VA's then...
amazing

"Career?" 😂
He'll always be Eder for me
Was that pumat? 1:25
oh, i thought his dnd games. but that's ok too
First game is always the easiest, thus for Matt its either Final Fantasy or Overwatch. Baffling that he got it wrong
MATT WAS IN SCALER???
Still no Ira love 😭
Got all of them except for titanfall

Yeah that took me right out of it. Where's the fun in seeing him squirm when we immediately know?
I liked Scaler
No Evolve :/
Aw no fire emblem but still fun 😂
Damn i’m early
first twelve hours lesgo?
This is early
That’s not Vecna that’s Nagash, silly Matt
first!!!!
I assumed from the title that this was going to be about TTRPGs. Boo, not interesting.
Imma be honest. I guessed most of these based on the pixelated game art
I used to play Scaler! I didn't know you were in it!
