I am from kurseong relatively small town then Darjeeling but people here passionately adopted the western music culture. I am DJ myself and opening was so responsive less.. C'mon it's Jay platinum record selling artist! Today I really understood what deadmau5 said in one of his interview on masterclass "If you can inspire one person with your music you have done it" it's not about selling out venues it's all about those 10 to 50 people who actually understand you as an artist & respect your art & music Peace ✌

I had tickets to this gig. It was a charity show with Coldplay headlining. I was super hyped to be finally going for a Hov show but as it was getting closer to the show, I started realizing that more than 90% of the crowd was just basic people going for Coldplay. No hate to Coldplay, but they certainly do attract a lot of just basic people and since the tickets were pretty expensive, it was gonna be all that. On the last day I decided to give the tickets to my mate who wanted to take his girl. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the energy of the crowd matters a lot and after seeing this, I don't regret my decision to not go anymore. Hopefully someday I'll go for an actual Jay show with some real ass fans and not people who're going just for the cool story on their 'Gram.
brooooo i went there and ill say u missed out big time bro to watch JAYZ perform like that with a full band, he and his mic without any background vocal tracks. i enjoyed every second of it the crowd was crazyyyyyyyy too in this video ull not even hear 1% of the crowd coz its basically muted in the mix, its like a whole day of standing without an inch to sit still people went crazy. On top of that to experience coldplay perform a world tour set it was something else. i didnt take out my phone the whole day. being a person in india who is only into western music since a kid i can assure u missed out but its alright.

In America for example NY or Balt where he hung out during his early days, Jay Z is extremely relaxed sometimes he stopped the music just to talk to us, also he might freestyle some verse or bar we never heard or he will put a beat on and ask the crowd to sing, but he loves performing so I can tell he's enjoying every second in Mumbai as he is in America. There's no right or wrong way to be, the people were great and I love the set
This is a late comment but the audio mixing on this video has managed to competely silence the crowd. I was here at this concert. This video completely misrepresents the actual vibe that day because of the audio mixing. The crowd went FUCKING crazy and everyone was bouncing throughout the JayZ set. You missed out.
Tbh The level of understanding bar in India is quite low. That's why honey singh is so big here... , no complexity, no metaphor, no doubles, quadruple. elementary rhyme scheme and easy on the ear flow.
Many in India speak english but among those >90% of us can't catch rap bars and find it hard to really enjoy rap...but some popular rap song such as 'Rap god-em' were known by many again... To everyone questioning the crowd there! I was one of them, some 100mts from Stage. The crowd was till 1Km away from stage. I came there at 4pm, people have been there since 11am and this performance was at 7pm right before Coldplay (which was always shown as highlight of the show) Also Jay-Z was not even promoted much, many people didn't know that he was coming. And finally you see crowd near the stage so dull coz all of them are there from some "juggad" (read "corruption") to get those tickets not really your hip-hop fans! I'm lucky that I witnessed Jay-Z live for the 1st time and then started listening to him.
