I have to say that discovering Snarky Puppy has probably been the most incredible music experience I've ever had in my life. The rabbit hole I've gone down to find everything and everyone connected to Snarky Puppy has given me more new music that I can barely keep up with it all. About a week ago, I started looking up "Robert Searight" for shits and giggles and that man has done so many other projects outside of Snarky Puppy that I'm still finding new stuff just by him. I'm actually going to a Ghost-Note concert in a couple of months from now and I literally didn't know that band existed one week ago. It's just incredible. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Bill Laurance is also incredible. I'm loving all of his compositions!
Absolutely! same here mate. After discovering snarky puppy I got really into Bills solo work and then later on stumbled across Esperanza Spalding. Best finds of my life!
Been listening to this song for years and it never gets old. It makes me feel as though I'm soaring. It's a brilliant composition performed by brilliant musicians. I've always preferred instrumental because in YOUR mind, it becomes whatever you want it to be.
The ending is so amazing. I have to be up early, but it's past midnight, and I can't stop. This makes me want to become a better musician, and a better person. Amazing.
This piece truly tells a story. it makes for a great soundtrack. I imagine a fractured love story between a couple desperately being saved before it ends.
I know a lot of people who say they don't listen to instrumental music because there aren't any lyrics and therefore they can't "relate" to the song. They obviously haven't listened to the right songs.
I think you have to be a certain type of person to be able to 'feel' the lyrics in this. When I listen to instrumental music, I can hear and experience the same 'journey' that other people get from lyrics...
The funny thing is that I find it harder to get that same 'journey' out of lyrics, they have to be very well-written for me to get something out of them.
@@roelandbr I think lyrics lead u to think one thing, and it's very a very similar thought process to the singers ideas...Whereas here its open to so much interpretation that it makes it so much more relatable
never felt so much in just 10 minutes, this is art at its finest, reaching deep into my soul and bringing me almost into a state of meditation. All that while demonstrating such unique talent on that piano. I love this music.
Bill let’s the music take over his soul and u can feel it just listening almost can hear words the mesh of these guys is a God Send thank you!!!! Like these guys really become the music
fantastic... I am so happy you guys are being the new ambassadors of real musicianship..... just playing a song on a instrument wont cut it..! STUDY! PRACTISE....and PLAY FREE!
This version makes Michael League's Bass come alive much more than the Jefferson Lab version. Is it possible to fall in in love with a band? That's how I feel with Snarky Puppy
Yesterday I was at the concert in Budapest, MÜPA. I was sooo happy because the plus song was this. This is my favorite, it has a beautiful intro and outro. Bill thank you! :D
Went to see Snarky Puppy last week in Birmingham, they played this. I'm definitely getting this album... Also, the cinematography from about 8:35 onwards is just as stunning as the music itself.
My new hobby is discovering all the different versions of RW. They all have unique stories to tell. Seeing/hearing this piece live in Lincoln NE a few years ago was a major highlight of my concertgoing life. Sublime ❤️
Am likin' both S.P. v. and solo. Each stand alone with a whole diff vibe. Laurence is technically proficient maintains a brilliant feel for the melodic timbre & dynamics, time changes... brilliantly executed compositon imho. Ah fuck it i give it a 10 out of 10 ! ( :

Same man
Absolutely! same here mate. After discovering snarky puppy I got really into Bills solo work and then later on stumbled across Esperanza Spalding. Best finds of my life!
i've been the same way since a few weeks ago!
This is literally the words that I need to express. Bill Laurence takes us fly. Snarky Puppy is so much difficult than maths.

Michael league badass grooving as usual.....incredible
Ya gotta luv the "Stank" face he's giving while he's playing. LOL
Bill Lawrence and the drummer are connected to the same stream of thought. The way they switched together seamlessly. Just amazing....
The ending is so amazing. I have to be up early, but it's past midnight, and I can't stop. This makes me want to become a better musician, and a better person. Amazing.
THIS!!!
Ok, why did they switch that rhythm so smoothly like that. That was simply crazy and beautiful. The Strings are simply amazing. Wow......
too good
That ending... I'm left speechless.

I was on those people until I heard snarky puppy.lol
Welcome to the bright side of the force.

My God. Heard this with the Pups. Can honestly say that both versions amaze me with the musicality. Good job Mr. Laurence, keep it up.
saw Snarky Puppy in London on Tuesday, and they ended with this. Bought the album on Wednesday and can't stop listening to it!
Really impressive, difficult to define but easy to understand...with my soul.

8:30 to the end is by far one of my favorite moments in music history.
The most emotional moment in the last 100 musical years.
