Decades of years of practice. Seriously. Most of us can reach lvl like that, but this means that we should practice for thousands of hours doing things properly and slowly learning how to use your voice, cause it's really not only about breath support.
Basically, he works to put the distortion somewhere other than his actual folds, cause that would tear them apart. I am by no means an expert on this, just a college student doing a music minor specializing in voice, but you kind of put your voice “forward” instead of more back, so it’s not grinding your vocal folds. You also don’t try to “push” it or force it, that’s gonna go right to your vocal folds and tear them apart. Despite what it sounds, you almost have to like relax and let it happen more naturally without pushing
Might have failed miserably the first time, but came back and killed it this go around. My man made it sound like the warcry of a crazed berzerker. Made the hair on my arm stand up.
