    I watch a lot of videos from Australia and i feel as though the Aussies have so much more better things for homes and cars compared to the U.S

    Awesome tutorial Bill. This is exactly what I needed for an upcoming project to resolve some drainage issues down the side of my house.

    Bill you should go on tour, pick 5 contestants who are doing some projects and visit their houses/ homes give them a few pointers and what not and boost their confidence, I am sure some viewers might have a similar project going on and could find some ideas and learn something.

    I just did one similar DIY job like you did. The supplier did ask for a foam to attach to the side of the channel, so you can open the cover easier.

    Would be helpful to see how they are set into concrete. Maybe next time Bill? Cheers :-)

    • @billshowto

      Set into the concrete is the easy part. Put a little bit of concrete underneath the channel and concrete around it. Maybe next time👍👍👍

    • @stuckster
      @stuckster ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't forget some adhesive foam along the top edges so you can remove the grate after the concrete has set! Pretty important step.

    Thanks for the video. This has helped me a lot as I am planning a similar project. I am looking for a little bit of clarification around connecting to the downpipe. If it is a wet system, won't cutting a hole firstly release water in the pipe, and secondly, result in upwelling at the grated drain? Or am I getting fluid mechanics totally wrong? Thanks in advance.

    Are you in Melbourne or Sydney? You should run workshops, so we could drive you crazy with a million questions. Thanks for your channel, I've just found it and binged watched a lot of it yesterday. You make it look so easy, but I am grateful for the step by step guide, I reckon I can hang my drapes now.
    I'm not interested in sending rainwater away from my property (I'm a gardener) but I would be interested in french drains or swales for a suburban backyard. If that's up your alley?

    Great video mate. Can you cut with a saw that is not on the rib at 1400 like you did? Just randomly in the middle of the ribs?

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Needs to be on the rib if you want to add a joint to it. If there’s no joint you can glue and seal the end cap on 👍

    A question : there are water/sewerage pvc tubes alongside the house & buried (any idea how deep ?), if concreted & a pvc pipe broken, need to break the concrete ? (concreted mine just thinking ahead just in case).

  • @sw86241996
    @sw86241996 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Bill, quick question, do we need to use primer first, then pvc cement? Also, I saw an old plumber who loves to insert pvc first to see the position before applying glue. Is that correct ?

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Primer should be used on joints. Depending on the where and what the pipe is being used for you can get away with no primer. As for inserting pipe work first that’s a personal choice once again depending on what your doing. This section didn’t need to be exactly in a particular spot 👍

    Fk it no primer or chairs

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No need for chairs if you lift the steel up into concrete as you pour, personal preference. As for the primer, it should be used on all joints however depending on where and what the pipe is being used for you can get away with no primer 👍

    Can these plastic drains be used to go across driveways or are they not rated for vehicle weight?
