Actually the port of Altered Beast is an official port that was released on the Famicom only. Many Sega games got ported to the Famicom by companies like Sunsoft who also released After Burner and Fantasy Zone officially in Japan (these versions are also considered better than the Tengen releases by many people).
Oh you're very correct about Altered Beast. What I meant in the video is that the game included in the BittBoy is NOT an official release of that version. Everything on it is pirated or bootleg.
I mean in the 90s battery life was a real concern and the gameboy light need some more optimisation to reach 12 hours of gameplay with double As, i know this is a 5 year old comment but like still
I love going back to this video sometimes, it’s amazing to think that Bittboy seriously thought it’d sell. Honestly though, as soon as I saw the bootleg Chip ‘N’ Dale sprite on the menu and the 300-in-1 bootleg ROM which has been around for years, I knew it’d be a disaster.
Crikey. So, this was only sold for a short time before being pulled due to low sales?! In the words of Wade from Dank Pods "Can you believe no one bought this?!"
I've seen several reviews of the BitBoy. Yours was the best. You actually went through all the games, and as far as I know, no other reviewer I've seen has. Although it would have been good to hear about the poor connection the AV out has and how difficult it is to play because it cuts in and out horribly.
That "Aladdin 3" game is actually a hack of "Magic Carpet 1001" from the Caltron 6 in 1 cart for the NES...which was essentially an unlicensed multicart...with no pirated games on it. A really interesting bit of Nintendo history.
Lol I just bought a fake vita off of aliexpress for $20 and that has a micro sd card reader so I can load whatever the hell I want on it! The fact this console gets so much publicity is so wierd to me.
See 8 bit Guy's video on this. The company that's making this is pushing this thing really hard and he mentioned how annoying they were to deal with after he agreed to cover it. If they got Shaun to cover it, they must be really desperate right now to get it sold since most youtubers have covered it by now. Granted, Rerez is a great channel and all but still relatively small. Also, if they sent to him (*Giggles like a schoolboy*), it just proves they are an incompetent company because Shane ripped them a new one. Most youtubers seem to have been forgiving, but Shane's right. Great Hardware, mostly bad software. That's sad really because even if it's got pirate stuff on there, it deserves better.
It would be really annoying to use parts from this because its all soldered on. However if you're looking for that sorta thing there's something called a pigrrl it should be exactly what you're looking for :P

hey rerez apparently the folks at bitt boy are really pushing this thing ...they sent one to the 8bit guy...apparently they werent exactly thrilled by his review or at least thats how it sounded in his video.... im curious why are they pushing this thing so hard... theres better handhelds out there like that chinese handheld that plays famicom carts family computer or some similiar name... theres an optional controller available for that it also has a rechargeable battery but has normal batteries too .. and it hooks up to the tv. as well...
I know it’s been six years at the time of me writing this since this comment was written. But that is true what you said about The 8-Bit Guy receiving this particular handheld. I remember when David actually reviewed it and he got a different model than what Shane received from the company. The particular one David got was one with 129 games and it didn’t have any of those really bad games. I’m not exactly sure what happened in terms of which model they sent him, but I do know that the company representatives were absolutely insane because they kept bothering him about his review and how they didn’t like it.
The "new" BittBoy has a functional micro sd slot and doesn't include any games to avoid copyright issues. In fact, it doesn't even boot without a micro sd. It also emulates GB and GBC, has a slightly bigger 2.4" screen, load/save states, a 700mah battery, and you can control volume/brightness using select+A/B and select+TA/TB respectively. Now THAT is a portable console I would love to have!

If you want a new version of the 8-bit gameboy just get a GB Boy Colour. The SEGA games were actually licensed in Japan. Yep... SEGA Famicom titles like Shinobi, Alien Syndrome, Fantasy Zone (twice, no less), and After Burner.
Yeah but one game I can say that no one has tried to rip off as of yet is Zaxxon for ColecoVision. Zaxxon in was a cool game for its time aim if you're really into nostalgic games I suggest playing Zaxxon. Believe it or not you can still buy it on Amazon.

Altered Beast for the NES is as official as Tengen Tetris. Tengen released Afterburner, Alien Syndrome, Shinobi, and Fantasy Zone on the NES during their phase where they used the courts to get info on the lockout chip and released their own versions, until they were dragged back into the courts by Nintendo.
That is correct. What I meant in the video is that the game included in the BittBoy is NOT an official release of that version. Everything on it is pirated or bootleg. I don't think collectors of the original release would be happy with this.
At first I heard him call it a "Pip-Boy"
The SEGA games were actually licensed in Japan. Yep... SEGA Famicom titles like Shinobi, Alien Syndrome, Fantasy Zone (twice, no less), and After Burner.
I have never in all my years as a gamer seen a 3.5 inch audio jack, if you can believe it.
Harry Potter is broken Aladin....
Yeah but one game I can say that no one has tried to rip off as of yet is Zaxxon for ColecoVision. Zaxxon in was a cool game for its time aim if you're really into nostalgic games I suggest playing Zaxxon. Believe it or not you can still buy it on Amazon.
Hey Rerez i just bought a Bittboy from ebay and it will be coming soon 😃
Omg!
This thing sounded so good!
...And then there was the micro SD slot that is just a hole!
What were they thinking?!
