Hallelujah, im gonna praise 👏 🙌🏼 him all my days on this earth . I love him soooo much more day by day 💕 💓 💗 praise him in the morning, noonday, when the sun goes down 🎶🎙🎶🎙
I saw them proform this in London at the Royal Albert Hall when on the same tour, though over fifty years ago it lives on in my memory as the best concert I ever saw, and I have seen a lot over the intervening years. Elaine Kelly singing lead on this knocked it out of the park as she did singing lead on To My Fathers House. 🎵🎶🎹
This was my favorite song from Elaine when I saw the Edwin Hawkins singers in Wormerveer the Netherlands in 1970 at the age of 15 years. My first and most impressive concert!
They played this and similar tunes after midnight on the Gospel Train radio show in Detroit in the late 60s. Between songs the DJ would come on and act like the train conductor and say they were moving to the next car on the train. I was a new convert and I would sit on the living room floor and worship and cry until my mom would send me to bed at 2-3 am. Great memories.
Such a PRICELESS TREASURE for so many reasons...love hearing Elaine Kelly in her best and powerful voice as led the audience in that call and response style vamp...the other treat for me is seeing Edwin taking a break from the piano and joining his Singers. His smiles and youthful energy as he joyfully plays the tambourine and sings clearly shows he loved what he was doing. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🎹❤️
The greatest Gospel band, from my youth HALLELUJA AMEN,After 10 years looking, and who has them, but a never came on the name was in my mind gone and yes, there they ware there. Find and find wath you need and it makes you happy Amen DONT GIVE UP
As good as it gets ..listening to these anointed singers 50+yrs and of course others but hey come on this is live, this is where talent outs ...are you listening young singers ......love Elaine Kelly ...bet Irish ancestry....
It was recorded in concertgebouw Amsterdam. I had the Buddha album "Edwin Hawkins singer live at the concertgebouw Amsterdam". Don't know if this album is available on cd or on the net. Always loved this song eventhough i'm not religious at all.
If you have a clip of Walter Hawkins singing lead during this concert please post it, this is too cool and a very rare gem...thank you so much for sharing this with us!!!!!
Wisely and obviously, Hawkins was still insisting on a conservative dress code, even though the choir gowns were let go. This was not about showing off, but lifting and gladdening the souls of the audience. In concerts and on records that's exactly what Hawkins achieved, and it seems to me, exactly the kind of life's work the Kennedy Center Honors were designed for. Hint.
I wonder why Elaine Kelly didn't continue to record with the Hawkins Singers. Does anyone know why she didn't lead more songs, or why she wasn't present ?
That audience is not used to the African-derived approach to music. We sing with our whole bodies. Apart from the instruments, which we could do without, it is soul-stirring.
Everybody Say Amen Everybody Say Amen One For The Father Two Fir The Son Three For The Holy Ghost Everybody Say Amen Everybody Wave Your Hands Everybody Wave Your Hands ✋ Everybody Tap Your Feet Everybody Tap Your Feet

Wow This girl sure can sing up a storm. Tears of joy in her eyes when she opens up her throat and lets rip all that power. LOVE IT.
Amen
She reminds me of a vocalist in the D.C. area as I was coming up. Here's to Judy & her daughter Anika ...

All these DECADES later and I'm just disco that this isn't Lynnette singing lead on Praise Him...what a revelation?! They sound so much alike!
YEP Lynnette emulated Elaine Kelly's style a few years later.
OH MY GOD! I listened to this song as a child!! I've never seen the Hawkins "kids" this young before!! Tramaine looks so cute as a "teenager"...
I'm clapping my hands, patting my feet, and saying Amen!

Heard Oh Happy Day on the rock radio stations back in the late 60's.
dvlaries....you know something? The Hawkins ARE WAAAYYY OVERDUE for recognition of Kennedy Center Honors!!! You are so correct with that hint.
The Glory Of God
Might be the finest song I’ve heard recorded.
If she (Elaine Kelly) wasn’t an influence on Bettina Pennon of NYC... idk who was. Bc they sound SO MUCH aliiiike: approach, tone & ALL 🤯🤯🔥
It's cool to see Walter, Tramaine & Edwin (esp. @8:02)
She sounds just like a Hawkins. Also was Lynette there
I wonder why Elaine Kelly didn't continue to record with the Hawkins Singers. Does anyone know why she didn't lead more songs, or why she wasn't present ?
Je souhaite savoir si le concert de Tramaine Hawkins "jazz in paris 1993 live" existe en CD.
MERCI
Love this group. But I am still trying to figure out what is wrong with the audience?
I love their conservative dress. Today's performers could certainly learn a lesson from them.

@@dellitaogunsola9544 The bible says to praise God on the loud sounding symbals.

The slower tempo detracts from the thrust of this great song. Makes it sound kind of static. Maybe it was the setting? PWG
amen
Could this be recorded in the Mozes and Aaronchurch in Amsterdam?
Does anyone know where this was recorded?
ELAINE KELLY.
Haha look at the stayed Dutch audience they don't know what hit them !!
