Gee mate, I’m half way. If ya need something picked up in Sydney, let me know. I’m a Landie Nut too. I’ll get it to my place (Moruya) and pick it up from here.
Vintage Restorations Australia . Glad to hear that. Just finished a 4 year restoration of my Series 2. It was very much a one man affair, but still lots of fun. Thanks for the helpful tips in straightening a buckled cross member. My next project a series 1 has similar damage, so good to see how best to straighten this. All the best from Canada’s winter ❄️ Ian
Vintage Restorations Australia. Thank you. I’ll try. The cold winters means a short season to work on our land rover’s. I’m on the prairies. All the best
My Miss’s took my 1988 Land Rover 90” on a 4 hour drive with her sister from Dublin to Kerry because her A3 had engine problems, over 600kms cost €60 in fuel ⛽️ I asked he if she took her 1.6Tdi what would it cost about €50 ... not bad for a 300 Tdi & R380 gearbox.... she could of taking her brothers mark 1 pajero but he said it wouldn’t make the trip ....😆
@@VintageRestorationsAustralia we have a glasshouse few lads in North Dublin all have landys , we are all the same vintage 😆 one guys good at electrics one guys good at welding we all have our skills .... good to see .... respect
Great video. Just a safety tip when using the drill. Make sure the handle of the vice is against the column(post) so if the drill bit grabs it will turn the vice and hit the post rather than the person using it. Also do you have a link to the rust converter product that you use?
Doesn't the "O" in OH&S stand for Occasional or Optional ?? :-) jokes aside its a good point Smurf. It's hard to see but the vice is bolted to the drill press platform and cannot move, with lube and low speed it drills nicely and accurately, tends to not jam. We start small and work up in drill bit sizes (mabye 5 steps to a 10 or 12 mm hole). We normally make our own corrosion inhibitor and I will do a video on making it soon but the commercial stuff is this www.itwpf.com.au/galmet/galmet-ironize/ Galmet is very good but there are other brands available cheaper.
@@VintageRestorationsAustralia I am moving Land Rovers around at the moment(I bought some more). I have just started renting a shed to do work on it. However, until i get a break with work I won't be able to do any more to it. Hopefully mid January.
A video close to my heart mate. Thanks for getting me started on the tools!
ha, you are very welcome my friend
That chassis looks better than my 1970 IIA for sure....so should last another 50 yrs ;) Good work guys!
Yer it came up pretty well, very happy to have a solid base for the rebuild /conversion. Thanks for your comments Stuart, appreciated.
Awesome stuff, brings back some frightful memories for myself.
Ha, sorry to put you through it again :-) Im looking forward to seeing the outcome to your relay adventures.

Chassis looks great! It's 12km to buy a carton of milk here. Who cares, it's worth it! I could never go back to the city.
I hear you Brett, black tea is worse than city traffic and neighbours you don't know :-)
