      @@DebbieHdz Debbie you look lovely in your videos ! You seem mixed race but I can't guess the mix. Some advice on visiting Portugal please : Apart from Lisbon, in what other cities/towns are there considerable numbers of racist people we should avoid like these: prruk.org/extreme-right-escalates-violence-in-portugal/ and www.theportugalnews.com/news/anti-racism-association-vandalised-in-portugal/55334

      My mum is from there, I was born in England and when I was 10, my parents decided to move over there. I came back to England for Uni and I've been living here for about 8 years and everyday for the past year or two, I've been thinking about going back. Don't get me wrong I love the UK but I just miss the the warmth of not just the weather, but the people too! And the food, my god I miss the food haha! Sorry if I got a little carried away, I hope I didn't bore you lol. And be careful not to go on a kuduro videos rabbit hole, you might not come out ;)

    • @DebbieHdz
      @DebbieHdz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a bore at all! I loved this, thank you for sharing this. Wow!! England?! I've done a lot of travelling, but I've never been there. I've never had much of a pull to go, just because I'm American and I feel it would be a bit similar to the states (of course, very different in many ways too I'm sure)...but I can totally see how you'd have that pull/thoughts about Portugal (and yes!! haha the warmth! Both in the culture and weather!) and I sooo agree about the food my friend! dang, now I'm getting carried away!! hahaha Well, enjoy your time in Uni and I hope you get to see Pt soon! :D

    You should have visited both the north and the south of the country. Our culture is wildly diversified according to the place where you're visiting. For example, Porto, Guimarães and the Douro Valley have a huge historical importance and some common ground with the Celt and Visigoth culture, as well as the Lusithanian. In the north you can find traces of history that go to Medieval times.
    In the center and south you can find traces from the Muslim occupation, and more recent history and culture.
    To the South you find more beach oriented tourism and a more multicultural approach (loads of English and German people there), but you'll also find a more rural way of life in Alentejo - horse breading culture, for example, is very prominent in that area.

    Hello Debbio, I love your video, but please to put spanish music in background when you talking about Portugal, for some ppl can be offencive. I know portuguese and spanish are very similar, but next time take that in consideration. Love from Portugal :)

      @DebbieHdz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Marco! Nice to meet you and thank you for watching my video! eeek :D I know it's a spanish song, and I'm aware of the differences--I put that song because it felt festive and fun (plus it played a lot in Portugal, so it was part of my memories abroad), but I understand what you mean! Thank you for bringing it up though! Sending much love as well!

    -Glad to know that you didn't wander just around Lisbon.-
    Nevermind, you didn't even visit the northern or the southern places.

    • @ShankaraOm
      @ShankaraOm 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In her defense it was a short time, and she has to start from somewhere, right? Like, when you travel to other country don't you normally start your trip on the capital?

    • @bit2shift
      @bit2shift 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if you are:
      ‣ visiting a neighbouring country, in which case you just drive across the border and explore your way around.
      ‣ planning a trip, and researching places to visit-the capital might not be the best starting point.
      In Debbie's case, she went to Lisbon because she had a contact there-Maguie's boyfriend-, giving it a higher priority on her list of places to visit here in Portugal.

    • @ShankaraOm
      @ShankaraOm 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are talking about exceptions, i'm talking in general...

    • @bit2shift
      @bit2shift 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In general, you should research beforehand about the place you're visiting. That's item #2 of the "not if" list.

    • @ShankaraOm
      @ShankaraOm 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but many times the capitals have much to offer, i'm not saying that there isn't other parts that have equal or even better things to see or experince. But the capital and big cities have more easy access, regular transport and so on to move from there... Personally, i'm more into culture and nature but many times i end up starting from points that are easy to move, and have cheap flights, like is common to be the capitals... And also there are many people that only like big cities and visit capitals of the world... do i think this people is missing out? Definitely, but that is another story...
