That's a great story. I like his humility given his obvious success. The sprung front end really shows the transportation heritage of a European tractor.
The D - Series was a great success in Germany and lots of them are still in service ! I own a D-212 , the smallest ever built . I learned to drive it at the age of five and it stayed with me my whole life ! I`m still fascinated how smooth these engines run - at high revs just like a 4-cyl.
I have a couple like this but different make. A 2 cylinder diesel german "guildner" and a 1 cylinder diesel "deutz". Have worked on both to make them usable on my garden. I just love the popping sound they make ♡♡♡. This IH is a beauty too. Thanks, but it looks homesick to me. Please send it home soon.
I couldn't determine if it is a 4 cycle or 2 cycle diesel engine. That buddy seat should have been a standard feature on USA tractors. It is now for the most part but not when I was a kid.
You are right. IH had factories in Europe, in the past : one in Neuss am Rhein , Germany, that produced "D series" tractors. One in Doncaster, Great Britain ( B series) and one in Saint Dizier, France, (F series) .
It is German built. Built at one of International Harvester's European factories. It resembles the styling of the British built B-250 and B-275 tractors.😊
Nice collection, very special to you and to those of us who enjoy them. Thanks for sharing

I'm from Germany and we own the same Mc Cormick. But our D 217 has the original wider back wheels.
Nice Video and really nice tractor 👍🏻
Love those tractors. We had a lot of international stuff too. I miss them all. My health forced me to sell what i had a long time ago.
That sucks. I have a little 41 H. My first tractor. I'm only 16 but I'm an IH guy too

The styling reminds me of the British B-250 utility tractor
Looked like maybe an IH 660 back in the corner of that shed along with a 1206. Both are machines of my youth.
Thank Yo
Nice
Friday Tractor's tractor had an accelerator also. With its IND 6(I believe) and the dodge truck drive train it would clock about 35 on the road.
i just bought a d217 and cant find any information on oil filter, fuel filter part numbers. also glow plug part number would be nice. please help.
German John Deere or Lanz Bulldog would be nice to see
Auf jeden fall!

Four cycle glow plug start diesel
I love knowing that my family isnt the only people who call it a buddy seat.
I always thought the 'D' in the model name means 'Deutschland'. The German name for Germany, where it was built.

Gutes altes deutsches handwerk, nice to see some german engineering, but we german are known for good quality and this is one example
Ich frage mich schon länger ob sich wohl mal ein 1455 xl in die USA verirrt hat und was sie von dem fanden
The D stands for Duitsland (Germanen) 2 the cilinder and 17 hp
Did I see some electric cub cadet pulling tractors?
