When Tina was singing with Ike Turner things were not easy for black artists, especially a black woman singing rock, blues or funk music. Beyonce is here achieving all that success because of women like Tina Turner.
Yeah that was the point. Ike was obsessed with trying to get a hit so he ended up emulating other artists and hit records in his writing. It’s one of the reasons they did so many dang covers.
@@damonsmith6566🤗 I'm sure Beyoncé has seen this one and all the others too, she patterned some of her style of performing after Tina. She was 1 of Beyoncés fan and idol.💋💃🏽🎤🎶😍
For a long time I had been wondering who could be this Ikette performing alongside Esther Jones and Claudia Lennear with this short wig partially hiding her face though until I found out her name was Stonye Figueroa. Sooo sexy! The Ikettes brought Tina a platform to shine with the band. You're the 3rd person I read stating her/his mother is performing with the Ike and Tina Turner's Revue. One was the late Vera Hamilton's daughter and I forget who the other person was. You must be proud of your mother and certainly be sharing great memories. 👍👌 All the best for the both of you.
Love 60's/70's Tina, but it's better she did so well with her 80's material when she was able to reap all the benefits for herself, outside of Ike's control. Happy for her later blockbuster successes, in music and in life!
I can't think of any current female artists, including Ms Bey, who'd survive vintage Ike & Tina dance and singing moves today, the dancing was strenuous, no backup tracks or auto tune, just your top of the line coke-snorting slave-driver bandleader, the band, Tina and the ikettes, plenty of fines and ass-whippings to go round, all to do 8 shows a week, touring or recording a minimum of 8-9 months of constant one nighters all thru the year! "The beatings will continue until morale and revenue improve." That was the chitlin circuit in a nutshell. Ike's tyranny notwithstanding, they certainly put in the work nonstop, because that was the minimum requirement to keep your reputation in good faith. Tina's current Broadway show couldn't do that kind of schedule these days and had to settle for 6 shows lol. My former boss worked with Ike & Tina at Fender Guitars and had some stories...and I found out years later that my ex's younger brother was one of Ike's sources... and I don't mean songwriting neither! Sometimes the world is a bit too small.
Let's face it there were only three goddesses of rock music in the 1960's...Tina Tuner, Grace Sick and Janis Joplin. Thank god that Tina and Grace are still alive....I worship you babes. Thank you so very much for all the happy times you gave us.
On top of the talents of Tina Turner & The Ikettes along with Ike and the Kings of Rhythm. The camera work and movement is amazing. From a Videographer's stand point I love how the camera at 0:27 swept across to ease up to a center shot.
she was very much the female James Brown!!! everything about her from the voice, to her moves reminds me of the legendary James Brown and the Flames. LOVE HER.

Can you imagine being Sixteen Years Old and still in High School signing your very "First" Record Contract with your Mother because you are still a "Minor" as is your Partners one of which has a Mother who doesn't know how to Read & Write (Mary Wilson's Mother Johnnie Mae who didn't go to School Regularly because as a child she was always sick) while another doesn't know what's going on (Florence Ballard's Mother), then your "Fifth" Supreme Barbara Diane Martin's Mother doesn't allow her to sign because she doesn't trust the terms of the contract. Then Nine Years to the day you sign, you are making your last appearance with your Partners one of which got fired three years earlier who got replaced and you are on your way to being one of the Biggest Black Female Stars of all time. Oh another Group who emulates Tina Turner are the UK Girl Group Girls Aloud who show Tina's Influence in a Concert Performance of their Song "Miss You Bow Wow."
Anyone who lived at that time recognizes all these old dances she "choreographed" into her show. WONDERFUL Excuse the spelling, senior moment! Stay in school. Study harder. Study longer.
adoro as performances de Tina Turner, pra mim ela é uma artista completa, dança, canta, nos diverte, muito bom! E esses passos fora do comum são sensacionais. @thieres_duarte
Let's acknowledge up front that Ike was a troubled guy in a lot of ways, exacerbated by a lot of polysubstance abuse. Accepting at face value that he mistreated his wife and musical partner, let's not let that obscure some very positive accomplishments musically. Ike was the brains and the svengali behind the scenes. He was a great arranger and writer, and was a very underappreciated guitarist who influenced Jimi Hendrix significantly. It's sad the way he has been marginalized as a significant figure in roots music who influenced pop and rock as well, his less noble traits not withstanding.

YASSS!!!
Much LOVE FOR THE QUEEN OF ROCK N ROLL MS. TINA TURNER!
As a 61 young man now I see why my Father was glued to the Television when Tina Turner came on..RIP DAD.
A voz a coreografia perfeita instrumentos qualquer musico toca mais cantar e dançar perfeitamente com Tina Turner e a Tinetes e incrível so Elas
Wonder if she knew this dress would become one of the most legendary, iconic symbols in pop culture.
Curtis King II damn you fine
This choreography and their dancing is incredible.
the choreography always blows my mind
The dresses ,hair , and makeup is everything too !
And Tina's Voice
HAHAHAHA her moves? She could do anything but dancing!!!!
She is a worse dancer!! Not everything is good about TINA BUT A GREAT PERFORMER AFTER ALL
Tina sounds like a female verson of James Brown in that song. It sounds like something James could've wrote. 💕
Yeah that was the point. Ike was obsessed with trying to get a hit so he ended up emulating other artists and hit records in his writing. It’s one of the reasons they did so many dang covers.
Exactly very similar
Ike wanted her to sing like a man. Only natural she'd copy the number one singer.
It’s, Sly Stone, Sing a Simple Song.
When Soul music was SOUL music
it's Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Funk, Rock and all mixed together - simply perfect!
Well done Ike; what a great band!
Tina Turner was so young and gorgeous here. So amazing!

Absolutely the greatest entertainer. She lit up every place she performed in. Electric energy!!! I love this song. Kudoos Miss Tina!
My fave performance of hers. RIP Tina
This is how you put on a show ladies and gents
Tina's the ESSENCE of SOUL.
Tina’s voice……..deliverance…..energy…..unbeatable
She sure was a bold soul siStar! ✨️💫🌟💫✨️
Sweet at the end how the singers line up for the big finale! AND menacing at the very end when you hear Ike yell "Tina! Come here!" 😱
That wasn't Ike that was Ed Sullivan calling them over to talk to them. You can find the full clip of that on the Ed Sullivan Show channel.
Complete force of nature!
One of my all-time favorite Ike & Tina records 🔥
Same
DAMN!! This song is pure fire!! Especially when they break into the change with that pumping bass line!
It's crazy how she's more famous for her 80's stuff but these performances in the 70's were much more technically advanced.
