Most people don’t appreciate that Shakaal had amassed so much Real Estate (an entire island) at a relatively young age. He also brought his love for animals to his profession (sharks, crocodile, dogs, etc). It is also rumoured that the smiley emoji was inspired by his look. Bikau media will never share these facts!!

Loved the episode. This is getting better by the day. Hats off to abbas for his alternative ending. Btw Kallia also had brother dying played by kadar khan.
Also to add abdul and his song was added as a token to pander to all religions like it was done at that time .
Shaan Mukherjee has aged really well.. he looks good for an 50 year old guy..so sweet and humble with no controversies.

Technically extremely sound, looks fresh even today. Not many movies today can match the finesse, inspite of having green screen technology. Actions scenes were exceptional, songs were awesome.
Actually saw Shaan lately -- loved it!!! Also felt Shakal as kid felt like a world domination villain but watching the movie again, he’s like a petty smuggler -
My double feature would be with Do aur do paanch which is also has a very funny first half.

My first thought after rewatching Shaan recently was the immense budget of the movie😮 but i loved the movie and still seems fresh❤

Shashi Kapoor did many many potboilers. And he and Amitabh were cast together because they were already a very successful pair. Check out Deewar for reference
I think, Abbas means 'Gairo pe karam, apano pe sitam' from 'Aankhen'.
One of the most terrifying villains was shakaal. Plz do has it aged well for namak haraam

This time Abbas did a poor job of summarizing the plot. Usually you are able to follow the podcast without watching the movie. It was quite difficult this time. Please keep this in mind for future episodes. We love you guys!
Madhuri and Anupam Kher as con artists duo in Khel bears strong resemblance to Bindiya Goswami and Johnny Walker as partners in crime in Shaan (niece and uncle jodi). I wonder if it was inspired.

Coincidentally I was just thinking yesterday how Shakaal wasn't a scary villain, after listening to the DDLJ recasting episode and remembering how effortlessly scary Amrish Puri could be. I'd forgotten the crocodiles, but otoh Mogambo had a lava pool. Shakaal was a Bond villain, but not as fun.
SRK once dissed Shaan in some interview saying "Sholay ka Shaan mat banao", using it as a metaphor for over-reaching.
I definitely liked parts of the movie when I watched it on TV back in the day, but it doesn't work as a whole. The initial con portions are more fun. The soundtrack is great, especially "Jaanu Meri Jaan" is a banger.
Mazhar Khan was a real life villain, a wife beater (Zeenat Aman!) abuser. Dunno why I tossed that in.
Ankhen reminded me of shalimar movie 😂😂😂 do that too.
25:00 this movie is great no doubt on that regarding Amitabh Bachchan role it's like Akshay Kumar's movies like he outshines everyone when he's the lead guy wherein sholay lead guy is Dharmendra so that's the difference between shaan and sholay regarding no othery guys outshining
but won't deny this movie was way cooler than sholay
