It’d be cool if in the attic they added another changing portrait of Constance and a new husband, but instead of him losing his head it’s her without one, like she met her match.
Yeah, I wish she had a canon death, and that would have been pretty fitting. I guess technically she’s supposed to have died of old age but I never liked that
@@phantomology13 Well, the reason she died of old age is because Constance Hatchaway-Hightower is tied to the Stretching Room portrait of an elderly woman holding a hatchet while sitting atop her latest husband's headstone. Originally, that portrait belonged to Master Gracey's mother (Yes, in this instance, George's relation to Master Gracey [the Dorian Gray Aging Man Changing Portrait] is a paternal one, before George's surname was identified as Hightower, thus making him instead the brother of Harrison Hightower, the owner of Disney Tokyo-Sea's Tower of Terror [still tied to The Twilight Zone franchise]) or to a woman entirely separate from the Gracey's appropriately named Abigail Peachcleaver (with emphasis on the "cleaver" part).
Let’s just say all of them are canon. I like to think that the house may have a curse on it and those who live there are doomed to have a failing love and to die a grim death
That would make sense, but then all the brides would be hanging out, and I think the others would not wanna associate with Constance due to her not being extremely remorseful while the others are more of grieving widows.

Beating Heart is my favorite, we don't know a lot about her and that's what makes her scary (I mean come on it's a haunted Mansion). We know Constance's entire backstory, we aren't left asking any questions. Honestly I think Disney should rework her a bit, maybe obscure her face and have her voice lines be more vague (as it stands all her voice lines can be summed up as "I am evil")
Well they can be obscure but the issue is that her weapon of choice keeps popping up in her hands each time. I agree that the beating heart bride deserves more story, she's clearly looking for her groom, did he ditch her? Did he die? Did she kill him and is in denial? Was he always dead and she's just delusional? They sometimes lump her and constance together, but she doesn't really show remorse and the only way you'd know she does is by looking at her story more. So her and BHB being the same is weird. Unless they had constance's heart beat and she asked you to be her new groom.

You ABSOLUTELY missed the bride in the Haunted Mansion Video game from 2003!! Probably as obscure as you can get, but still a haunted mansion bride. You meet her in the Maid’s Room waiting for her groom who never came.
I once met the director of the Haunted Mansion movie, Rob Minkoff. I didn't have enough time to talk about the mansion with him but he was a great guy! Also co-directed the Lion King too.
Nuptuwl Doom is my canonical version of the Bwating Heart Bride because it gives her depth and an actual story and it also shares and continues the trend of sad longing tragic brides doomed to haunt the house until they're married. And the diction used at the climax is great.
Constance and Beating Heart arent the same. Their tragedies dont share the same tone and neither do their personalities. BHB is more like Melanie except in Lousiana, not California.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense that they're the same, it would if constance had met a man she actually loved and he then killed her, leaving her heart longing for her man that managed to finally make it beat
If you like alliteration, Beating-Heart in the Epic Mickey videogame's Haunted Mansion-inspired Lonesome Manor level is called Bernadette & can be found floating in front of her tombstone in the graveyard.
Nice to see the SLG Haunted Mansion comics get some mentioning. They're criminally underrated and I find them better than Marvel and IDW's versions imo.
I read a fanfiction that combined Lillian from Ghost Gallery and Sally Slater into one, turning her into Gracey's bride- it's actually fairly well-written, and makes brief mentions of Phantom Manor, ties in Madame Leota's story from Ghost Gallery, and explains how the portrait ended up in the portrait gallery. It's Alternate Universe, and well worth a read. I think it's called 'A Delicate Balance on Archive of Our Own.
I'd love to see you do a video on the Ghost Gallery. I remember coming across the webpage in the late 90s. One thing that jumps out at me...the whole business of the bride getting locked in a trunk on her wedding day (in the Ghost Gallery, it's Madame Leota who's responsible) seems to owe a lot to the old ballad "The Mistletoe Bough" by Thomas Haynes Bayly. There, a Christmas wedding is interrupted by the bride's mysterious disappearance during a playful game of hide-and-seek at the reception, leaving her husband to mourn for years, never knowing what happened. But years later, an old trunk is found in the attic...with the skeleton of the bride trapped in it. She'd hid in the trunk and been unable to get out, suffocating to death. There's a little more about this legend/folktale at www.snopes.com/fact-check/bride-and-go-seek/, and it's mentioned in passing in the Hitchcock film Rope.
I've disneybounded as Lillian Gracey and Constance Hatchaway both ^_^ (I am STILL angry that they tried to rename her Sally Slater. I get it rhymes with Alligator but bruh)
The change from Lillian Gracey to Sally Slater was taken from the ghost Phineas Pock's poem. Sally Slater was also used as her name in the Ghost Post game sent to those who bought it.
I remember one story where the bride was to marry a sea captain. I think the last name was Gracey. Her father wouldn’t give his blessing for the marriage since he didn’t think the captain would be worthy of his daughter. The sea captain decided to set sail to bring back riches to prove himself worthy. His bride told him that she will be looking from the attic window at night with a candle watching the ocean and waiting for his ship to return. She had told the captain that she would remain in the attic as long as her heart was beating. Unfortunately the sea captain had perished at sea. In the hallway with the pictures, you see the result of his ship during the storm. At the mansion at Disneyland, the weather vane is that of a ship. I think this story was from those Disney records/books that you would follow along and turn the page when you hear Tinker Bells pixie dust. I doubt they used the pixie dust sound effect for this story though.
These brides are so scary and elegant at the same time. My family and I love Constance Hatchaway even though her appearance scares the crud out of the 3 of us. I'm considering playing her for a short film which happens to be called, "The Case of the Black Widow Bride." The bride with the candlestick in one hand and a bouquet in the other hand is named Emily Cavanaugh.
Emily Cavanaugh De Claire (Gracey-to-be, had she & Master Gracey [Which adds more fuel to the fire of the "Is Master Gracey The Ghost Host" theory] married).
I agree 100%, Constance is my favorite character besides Melanie but for some reason she’s kind of a controversial addition to the ride. So what if she’s kind of campy? It’s not like the rest of the ride isn’t.
Considering that the Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas revamp for the holidays...I think that qualifies Sally as a bride of the manor...
I have ridden the haunted mansion in Walt Disney World a few times. Its creepy. I've never heard of a smurf bride befoe. Don't know what kind of bride that is. Anyway, I think I'm liking the ride a little bit

The voice lines are fine but I feel like her facial expressions were too exaggerated and goofy, especially considering how sophisticated and laid back she looks in the portraits. Whoever decided she needed to waggle her eyebrows should be fired
I feel like the expressions should have been more serious? Like not smiling so much, just less goofy in general, maybe she could, like, look down at the hatchet and run her finger over the blade to give that serial killer vibe? Also the line delivery doesn’t match the facial expressions, they’re cartoony and kind of wacky whereas the lines are delivered pretty slowly. She even says “you may kiss the bride” now (I know they probably used that line to be sinister and call back to her murders) which… uh… they did not need to give her that suspiciously flirty line out of nowhere like that, but it sort of fits her character so…
OK so I’ve always been a very huge fan of the haunted mansion, both the ride and the Eddie Murphy movie. Still waiting for Disney+ to drop the newest version of a haunted mansion movie though I’ve heard it’s ratings for not nearly as good as the Eddie Murphy original movie.

it's only disrespectful if disney purposely named the bride after your relative, which they didnt 😭😭😭😭 its not disrespectful at all
@@p3achgrl oh 😖😔 I didn't see it that way thank you
Oh im sorry
