    Great video. Studying for Architecture board exam and this helped me understand the difference between the wall types very well. Thank you

    Great video! I am studying to become a property law attorney but am a nerdy-nerd and have never payed attention to the construction aspect of buildings. This video really explains things simply meanwhile providing much detail. Thanks :)

    Thank you! Very helpful. I was wondering if you could do an updated video with what that means for openings (windows, doors, etc).

    I know this video is old, so my apologies. But in chapter 707 of the IBC, it says fire barriers can be of any construction permitted by building construction type.. In other words, in a type V, you can have a wood fire barrier. This also goes for the firewall, as I understand it. Do you have any clarity on that?

      You are absolutely correct this video was made a few years ago and I see now I am wrong on several points in this video I will try over the next week or two probably month or so actually not to make a new video but to put some commentary notes. The difference between fire barrier and fire partition I have since learned that exits have to be a fire barrier separation of areas could be a fire partition but you are absolutely correct in the fact that A fire barrier and a fire partition can be made of different material based off of the construction type you select. Thank you for pointing this out I am constantly learning and I make the videos as I stated more for me to learn and people to critique and if we all learn we all make a better place thank you very much

      @@MartyHuie Honestly, as long as people don't become rude or get butt hurt, I think it's great that we can have a discussion and learn from each other. This video is still a great explanation of the difference between firewalls, barriers and partitions visually.

    • @MartyHuie
      @MartyHuie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, strictly and I mean strictly smoke partition just needs to be caulked definitely do not fire caulk it it’ll confuse everyone just caulk it

    is the smoke wall, have to be caulk on both sides of the wall, top and botton?

    • @MartyHuie
      @MartyHuie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      just one side needs to go to deck and be caulked, not fire caulk just regular caulk

    • @robertocolom5091
      @robertocolom5091 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      where can i found that information in riding, the inspector not understand , i have both sides up to the deck and one side with caulk top and botton

    • @MartyHuie
      @MartyHuie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertocolom5091 you're knocking to find that it only needs to be caulked on one side in the code, it's part of the fact that it's only a smoke tight wall and only one side needs to go to deck so if only one side needs to go to deck how are you been a caulk the other side
