- Dubdi Monastery, occasionally called Yuksom Monastery, is a Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism near Yuksom, in the Geyzing subdivision of West Sikkim district, in eastern India.
The Chogyar Namgyal established the first monastery known as the Dubdi Monastery in 1701, at Yuksom in Sikkim, which is part of Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit involving the Norbugang Chorten, Pemayangtse Monastery, the Rabdentse ruins, the Sanga Choeling Monastery, the Khecheopalri Lake and the Tashiding Monastery.
Established in 1701, it is professed to be the oldest monastery in Sikkim and is located on the top of a hill which is about an hour's walk (3 kilometres (1.9 mi)) from Yuksom. It was also known as the Hermit's Cell after its ascetic founder Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, who along with two other lamas from Tibet met at Norbugang near Yuksom and crowned Phuntsog Namgyal as the first King or Chogyal of Sikkim at Norbugang Yuksom in 1642. The literal meaning of 'Dubdi' in local language is "the retreat".

At first I thought what a wasting exertion when you realize that the monestry was closed. You've taken all the efforts to reach there but you can't go inside I thought this could be torturous feeling but no, that's where I fall wrong... the efforts you took was worth visiting even though the monestry was closed. What a tranquil atmosphere around the structure, I can sit quietly and try to listen to the silence to hear what it wants to say... the ambience looked so sacred. As there was another way of reaching but the route you choose, like hiking and reaching was the best way. Since the monestry was built in (1701) it should be declared as the heritage building.... Thank you so much Darshan for taking us to this oldest monestry through your camera.

Dubdi Monastery have 2, 3 trekking routes to go I believe, I have done the hike to Dubdi on 22nd November 2023, that road was most toughest inside the jungle.
04:08 I guess it's a prayer wheel, (khorlo) not a ghatta. Actually ghatta is a water mill where a stone grinder is spun by a rapid water flow to grind maize, rice, millet etc. in remote villages.

I have been there. Sikkim is self sufficient, idependent, well developed, clean and have strict rules. Citizens are very polite, well educated and knowledgeable. Again, Darshan please wear mask and follow the rules. Being influencer, you are conveying wrong ideas!! Its not just about making videos.
