I performed the popular songs for the Japanese animation films created by Studio Ghibli. All performances are recorded on multitrack recorder, which overdubbed several kinds of acoustic guitars such as a classic guitar, a folk guitar, a guitalele and so on.

耳をすませばの舞台は多摩の聖蹟桜ヶ丘。
あそこらへんはしばらく前はまだ水田や畑は多かったよ
最近は宅地開発が進んでめっきり減ったけれど
心がゆったりする良い音色だよな。
ちょっくらアンパンと牛乳セットで買ってくる。
パズー見たいに高いところで空でも見ながら、ちょっとかぶりついてくるよ。

i remember watching totoro as a small child i watched it whenever i was sick and at home
because for some reason it always made me feel better
So.. relaxing.... I listen to this all the time when I do homework - I can never concentrate though, because I'm always too caught up in the beautiful pieces though.

y does whisper of the heart have a rural background?
@SANNAFABICH Actually, only the opening lyrics were performed by Olivia. The ending credits were performed by Yoko Honna, with different words. (This might differ in the subbed version, I wouldn't know. I never watch the subbed versions...they irritate me:3) I think they didn't use John Denver's performance because it's a movie about a girl, not a boy :P It gives a different mood.
