    Hey! I'm an ICU Nurse for about a year now. I love all your videos and have taken fantastic notes from them. I wanted to know if you can make a series for Ventricular Assist Devices? Possibly Comparing and contrasting the various types, differences, management, expectations etc. Would love to see it

    I am a first year Perfusion student. Your videos are very helpful. Unfortunately we do not have many resources for perfusion students. Thank you for helping.

    Should the pump be placed on standby for chest x-rays?

    • @teresarr07
      @teresarr07 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily but I've heard standby just makes it easier to see the marker on the iabp for placement but it could still be done

    Who is responsible for inputting the settings into the machine? The icu nurse or physician?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically the nurse will be the one making the changes on the machine. Ive seen them drop them out of 1:1 to wean and see how they do, but usually they don't manage the pump itself.

    Can you make an impella video??

  • @arielleemilcar8145
    @arielleemilcar8145 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Eddie, your videos have been backpacking me through my career as a CVICU nurse lol… any chance you’ll have any videos on VADs and Impella’s anytime soon?
    Again, I love your content! I can’t express how helpful all of your videos have been!

    • @ICUAdvantage

      This is so great to hear! Truly awesome to know the videos have been helpful for you as you grow in your role.
      I do plan to cover both VADs and Impella. Impella will be soon. Not sure on VADs.

    Hi! I like your content. Will you be able to discuss managing Vasopressors and Inotropes drip, Hemodynamics, on patient who is fresh heart post op with HF while on balloon pump.

    Eddie, do intra-aortic balloon pumps increase pressure on the right side of the heart? Are they contraindicated in cases of right-heart failure?

  • @bikeste

    What's your lower limit for mean pressure when weaning pressors?

  • @amysimmons9022

    I think you should do a series on impellas too

  • @futurepublications6847

    thanks for excellent presentation, can you advise when patient on IABP with inotropes , do you wean off IABP before inotropes? or you try to wean both simultaneously ? wat protocols do you use
    also in patient who has cardiac arrest on IABP how do you manage the pump in this situation ,
    thanks

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Typically wean IABP first and may even up inotrope to support IABP wean. For codes, make sure IABP is in pressure trigger. If having issues can always standby if needed but the added coronary perfusion is great in codes so pressure is best.

    But i don't undrstnd, why we use the helium to Inflate the balloon?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The helium is a quick gas to move, which enables rapid inflation and deflation with minimal delay.
