big problems in the chroming world as EPA pressure to use enviromental friendly chems only and the cost has gone thru the roof. lots of firms i know were just about ticking over. now due to the expence of the process and the new chems they are just closing down and calling it quits....
I've seen some beautiful car restorations in the UK with chrome -- surely you could have had the bar re-chromed ?

grind back and get powder coated in fake chrome
