Hey Ashley, say hello to Francis in Honda Marine, an old friend... I have zero experience of being on a kayak. I am from the boat fishing background, thinking of a kayak now as I want something that does not require a trailer. Does the Hobie Pro flip in rough waters? I know its very calm the day you filmed this, but with that engine in the back... It won't like that salt water very much.
Only problem I noticed was the fuel tank in the front hatch, do you have to leave the hatch open? If so if you flipped you're kayak would start taking on water pretty quick no?
That's an old video the new one has the tank in the back I realised I just need 5 litres to get me going through the whole day... I burn 1 litre in 4 hours or trolling so I now have a smaller container behind the livewell at the back... check the new bude posted
Jim Williams Ashley, great setup! I would like to contact you concerning engine mount height and steering issues. You could save me a lot of time on my project. Thanks
Hi Steven, I used to prime every 30 minutes or so or when I could hear the engine gasping for fuel but I fixed that issue last week when I made a hole in the fuel cap and a hole in the cap of the fuel gallon now that air is being fed it draws fuel automatically and I don't need t9 prime it anymore
@@OceanAddict thank you. I got same motor on my sailboat and about to do a 230 mile trip( mostly motoring) and didnt want to refuel every hr while spilling in the water.
You should check out the TH-cam video on the Hobie Pro Angler 14 with an Expandacraft outrigger kit. More space, same speed but enough stability to stand up and cast net from the wing!
I thought about that option but I car top the kayak and keep the engine in my trunk... I needed a quick easy setup to install and remove easily and I believe this is the best... check my other video with the engine too
You did an AWESOME job on this project. Many thanks for sharing all the details on your design. It looks very professional. Hope you have a ton of fun using your new propulsion unit. John
Great work man 👍
where did you get these hose connectors for the fuel cap you used? it's a great idea!

Hello.
How did you manage, to attach the big fuel tank in front to the engine in the back??
Many thanks
A long 5 meter patrol hose with pump but I don't use that anymore... I just use a smaller can kept at the back near the engine now
That’s an insane set up, 👍👍

How do you keep the fuel flowing? Prime the ball every so often, or does it draw on its own while running?

Did you make this mount? would love to buy one
I did got an idea took it to a welder trailer manufacturer and he made it out of Aluminium in one day...
You tip up ur kayak will sink with ur hatch open for ur fuel tank like that 👍
NICEEE ¡¡ I HAVE MINE WITH 3HP YAMAHA AND LOKING FOR OTHER THIS MONT .. NICEE
MAGO'S TEAM KAYAK how fast does that get?
How many mph?
I get about 8 knots and can go faster but it gets difficult to steer with the rudder... I usually just troll at 4.5knots and that's fast enough
Just a tip, don't run your outboard on sand
