As a newbie for plastering I kept wondering what plasterers meant by flattening walls as I watched other channels videos. Their walls seemed to me pretty flatt without any extra work. But then I saw your videos and your brilliant filming angles finally showed me all those highs and lows and marks what other plasterers have been talking about. Thank you so much for taking time and effort for filming your work!
Here's me thinking my uploads weren't all that good it pleases me that its helped you out a bit I'm new to the sponge float method but was taught just on steel trowels so dont get to hung up on all these spats and flexi trowels that alot of people are using you can still achieve a great finish with a normal trowel thanks very much for watching👍
I tried flattening with super flex before, by definition a flexi trowel just doesn’t seem to get the wall too flat in my experience. Looks good and is supper smooth until paint goes on then shows a lot of imperfections
Yes I agree I've seen my work painted and shone a light on it after using the sponge then the flexy trowel and it turns out great I wouldn't use the flexy to flatten a wall without using the sponge I've seen walls painted when it's just been flattened with a flex trowel and I agree they look terrible painted 👍
@@onpointplastering good vids mate . I'm all for trying new methods but can you tell me why using a sponge float and then a flexi makes the difference to the finish when painted ?
@@griff0871 to be honest with you I've been looking at work I done 10 years ago with light hitting it and the finish I've been leaving with just a SS marshalltowns been fine I do however find if the walls a bit uneven I coat a bit thicker then I will use the sponge and flexi trowels on uneven wall it does leave a good finish after painted it was trial and error knowing when to use the sponge method but not used it in a while as it's been alot of new gyproc walls I've been going over thanks for watching👍
@@griff0871 I will use if I think theres a reaction or my first flatten doesn't go well if you know what I mean I will also use it when reskimming over old lath and plastered walls took me a few toes as in when I need to use the sponge float method
