We had a friends husband from India visit us in Finland some years ago. I introduced him to some nordic music, Wardruna, Danheim and Kalandra too. He now is the biggest fan of the genre. Music is an universal language
Helvegen has such a deep meaning to understanding the importance to make due with the time we are given on this earth, and the value/impact of your deeds when you are gone.: "Cattle die, kinsmen die; the self must also die. I know one thing which never dies: the reputation of each dead man". All I know that this song brings relief of the fear of the unknown when I am gone and brings me peace knowing that if I live a life of honor and purpose, that I will be remembered in the end.
💙😇Rip craig 1975---- 2024 you are dearly missed 💔🥺😭this was the funeral song we had played for our viking family member 💜🎵 goose bumps every time i hear this song
This song helped me discover who I really was!! When I 1st head it, I felt a deep, deep connection to it. Which is weird because I listen to rap music. Anyways I fell into this rabbit hole of Norse music and history! Well, I was adopted, so my wife got me a DNA test one year and came to find out I was 98% Scandinavian. Apparently, this music was met for it!
Einar Selvik is the male singer from Wardruna......he wrote this as a way to bring historical feelings and beliefs to a modern audience......"Helvegen" is the road to Hel (NOT the Christian HELL)....only Viking warriors who died in battle went to Valhalla, other deceased Norse went to Hel after passing.....kind of like Christian Purgatory, I understand......Einar reminds us that death is inevitable, but we should remember and honor those who went before us......Einar has performed this with Eivor Palsdottir and Aurora, and their versions are just as magical as this performance.........
It's pronounced something lie 'Pazinskie' or 'Pazinsky'. He's Polish, and there's a few symbols in his name that I can't make with a keyboard. Can't think of his first name off the top of my head. Hope this helps!
I had the joy of listening to them in concert, in Bucharest. Their music is wonderful!
I love the whole singing ending part from 5:06. Id have it on repeat ❤
I am Nigerian but I listen these types of music. They're so beautiful.❤❤❤
But that is cultural appropriation, remember that!
I love this comment. Music knows no borders, and we are all part of the human race ❤❤❤

This music makes me nostalgic for a place i will one day call "home". I do not know where it is, but i will recognise it.

The sun has set. The waves crash on the rocks in the darkness. The fire rages. The music plays-my ancestral home.

It's a song about death in bloody battle, and being doomed to die and go to hell. So you should maybe pay attention.
Can only use my favourite word in the whole english dictionary: Astonishing

@@emilyp8928it looks similar to Zdzisław Beksiński 'Valley of Death'. Seems like the album cover was inspired by this painting ☺️
