    I’m honestly really mad that they got rid of this ride. Hollywood studios is supposed to be a representation of the golden age of movies in the 1930s-40s, and the great movie ride is THE ride that captivated the glory and what the theme park stood for.

    That montage at the end always gets me choked up. Films are such a beautiful demonstration of the human element - our love, our fear, our joys and sorrows, and everything in-between.
    Films are proof that we were here and that our art will persist long after we are gone. They’re an exclamation of the human soul.

It was so much fun; guess Disney figured they could make more money with a new gift shop connected to a another attraction that would actually be more at home in the Magic Kingdom. MGM is a shell of its former self and the only redeeming thing for me is all the Toy Story. I'm not a Star Wars fan (minus my love for Star Tours). Universal is also sort of a shell of its former self and the thing that sucks for me is that my favorite type of theme park is the kind that shows you how the movies are made... It got me interested in wanting to at least learn about film making when I was a little girl and gave me a lifelong hobby- animation. :(

I’d always get so scared during the Alien part, but it was still my favorite part. I really miss this ride. What makes it worse is that they replaced it with the worst, most low-effort ride I’ve ever been on. They didn’t even bother to changed the queue at all so to me it was just all for nothing. They sold out the fans of this ride to save a quick buck. But then again, that’s all Disney does nowadays.

Disney doesn't all have to be about the new. It should keep rides like this to pay homage to the old too. There are also two possible scenarios for the actor on stage. It’s either the mobster taking control of the vehicle or a bandit which means a right or left track switch not that it will change much just which scene you will see next and the dialogue of the driver. It’s a 50-50 shot of getting one. I kept getting the bandit for some reason.

    They should’ve just scrapped some of the older more obscure movies for some updated ones but I assume they might’ve been a licensing nightmare that they didn’t want to get involved and may have costed more than what it was worth.

    • @dlh7989
      @dlh7989 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I doubt the licensing would have been that much of a problem, these were all random studios so there are probably lots of movies they could have switched to without much trouble, spice it up with The Godfather or whatever. Even if it was too much hassle, they could have done it with stuff they own, especially after buying 20th Century Fox. It's not like they'd even have to replace the whole thing. My idea just using Disney and Fox stuff would be two major overhaul scenes: replace The Public Enemy with the end battle from the first Avengers and have an actor playing Loki replace the gangster and steal the car. Then replace John Wayne with Jack and Rose on the Titanic and continue into them in the hallway during the sinking, with the lights flickering on and off, basically the same thing as Alien. Not that Alien isn't still a classic but that would just be a really simple change. Keep Indiana Jones and have Loki get destroyed by the Ark the same way. Keep Singin in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz which everybody still loves. Just replace stuff like Footlight Parade and Tarzan which nobody cares about anymore with Fox classics like Sound of Music, Home Alone, Princess Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Moulin Rouge, Fight Club, Die Hard, there are a lot of options. Public domain classics like a Charlie Chaplin movie or It's a Wonderful Life. Hell just put in a scene from the original Star Wars.

    God, I loved this ride! Thank you for posting this. My favorite parts were Mary Poppins, Singing In The Rain and the Wizard of Oz. As a kid the Gangster sequence scared me a bit and the Alien part always gave me goosebumps even as I got older. I was 7 when I went with my parents for the first time in 1989 and there was no warning about how dark & realistic the Alien part was so when that thing came from the ceiling, I shrieked & dove down to the floor of the tram & didn't come back up until we got to the Tarzan portion. After the ride, my dad took one of the cast members aside and said something about how a sign saying that there were portions of the ride that may not be appropriate for small children would probably be appreciated by future parents that were considering going on it.
