This is what is missing from Squad... destructible environments and the atmosphere. With the exception of BF 2042, BF games always had great graphics and the the environment looked great (debris, trash everywhere, ruined buildings, etc.). I think that's missing in all the mil sim games, they need destructible environments but I'm no game dev or designer so I'm guessing it hard to. I hope Mil Sim games built with Unreal Engine 5 changes this in the future.
@Ruska You mean Squad players don't want destructible environments? I think any military FPS game (arcade or hardcore) would benefit from destructible environments.
Great video Terry! This mod looks incredible! Can we please get more footage of how environmental destruction affects gameplay? Most other popular sim-like shoters don't really have that, and it could be interesting to hear your thoughts on destruction in such games.
Much better than Squad and Arma 3. It definately has better graphics and it's better optimized as a good Battlefield used to be but now with a realistic mode.. perfect! I'd love to see the same happening on Battlefield 1.
The mod releases on the 17th. Its different to Squad and the maps are using the BF3 maps with the borders removed, so they are generally smaller than Squad. Since its built from BF3 it uses all the graphics/sound design plus the destruction.
It has a huge potential. Just check Project Reality which is the inspiration for BF3 RM. It will be the same logic but with frostbite engine. Squad was also inspired by PR but could not achieve what PR offers. Just wait for tomorrow and try it & see yourself
the movement looks super clunky, every thing you get stuck on like terrain or small rocks like soooo bad, plus it looks like your running animation is in slow motion. like if your running that slow why is the gun giggling so much. looks off
Yeah thats just how the movement was in BF3 an dim not sure if the mod devs can change it that much. Running has been slowed down to make it feel more realistic based on all the equipment you carry. I don't know what you mean by "gun giggling"
The sound design in BF3 is still one of the best ever
It's a shame what happened to the franchise. So much potential to keep making great games, with all that talent they had on their team.
I prefered bc2 sound design but yeah it was great
And the gun progression was the best.

It’s UE4. Such a bad engine for any complex features like destruction, if you want the game to have more than 10FPS.
Theres a reason why BF3 has good destrcution, its casue its on its own engine, designed for it, unlike UE5 which looks horrible.
Squad was a great attempt but fails at being PR 2.0. I think this new mod for bf3 will be the true successor

I do have another video coming out which has some small destruction moments in it. One of them gives us a secret entrance into an enemy position!
I hope I can get used to playing BF3 again, the last time was a few years ago and it was tricky for me after playing the later games.

The whole mod is amazing but imo they should do smth so that you don't get teamkilled that easily
